His breakdown is a prime example of why I've always preferred Panther over Cage.

Wow, I can't belive I never connected T'Challa as having the same name as the black panther party.

Wow...I always preferred Black Panther over Luke Cage (or rather, didn't quite like Cage) and now I know why. Great analysis. Need to research Brother Man, though...

i dunno, cage has been a favourite character since new avengers because he was street level and let's not forget that he's not a criminal, just framed as one. it's one thing for superheroes to focus on the next crisis or whatever but cage's role in keeping the heroes grounded and trying to make the community better seems more powerful somehow. you could remove the unbreakable skin from his story and his feature film would be the most real superhero movie there is.

Cage definitely has a larger fan base than Brotha Man and a mighty mouse with a lot of cheddar behind any movie or television adaptations. Granted, 2 Guns is a comic book min-series that few people have read and it's in theaters this week.

what he said about Stereotypes are true to a degree, but People relate to the street urban type of black character it has nothing to do with stereotypes. No one what's to see a cornball type of character.

Despite agreeing with his opinion, thats a great rebuttal and a strong point that I can't dismiss.
      Well played.

What he was saying is that you can make a strong urban character without falling prey to stereotypes. Our culture shouldn't be depicted by the perception of white creators. We've had enough of that.

Is AA culture only urban ?? how poor is that ?
Is AA culture only rap, hiphop, gangbanging, silver or gold chains around the neck etc... ? 😐
No, you cant have urban character without falling to these stereotypes for the simple reason that urban people are these stereotype.

Actually, Luke Cage knocked up Jessica Jones, one of Brian Michael Bendis' pet characters. Other than that fact everything else you said was correct.

May 3, 2018----He didn't like Luke Cage? With a newspaper route, I could afford to buy Marvel comics when they first came out and my favorites were Spiderman and Luke Cage, followed by Daredevil. I always thought were a lot alike in some ways. It's been 55 or so years, so please excuse my memory (I'm 65). Both had rough starts in life, Peter seeing his uncle killed and of course, Aunt May with her bad heart. As to Luke Cage, this was (I think) the first superhero who had gone to prison and after getting out, got changed into having super hero powers and then struggling NOT to get back into his law breaking ways, but trying to help his community. And wasn't there a Marvel comic book hero (black) called Black Lightning put out during this time frame? Pretty sure he wore an all black outfit, wore no mask that I remember with yellow lightning bolts on the front/back of his costume. It wasn't bad, though I liked Spidey and Luke a lot more. As to The Black Panther, never heard of him until I saw the movie trailers. And nope, not interested in even buying the movie when it hits the $5 bin at Walmart. Having enough trouble even trying to watch those group superhero movies with Thor, Superman, etc.

Azuzaj1, I think the love cast in the direction of Brotha Man is because he is more positive than Luke Cage and created by a black man. Cage is surfeit with racial and political elements through the lens of a white creator. I like Luke Cage, but he certainly has his problems, including his name.
