I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I am so happy I did. I just use LR for my basic color adjustments and then finish with Luminar. But then sometimes I only have a min to edit and I slap a template on and it just does a fantastic job. Thank you for your tips with this software. I’ll continue to watch
Many thanks Anthony, very useful. Loved seeing the huge range of material you had available to select from. What an amazing place New Zealand is, so envious! And bring on the CURVES tutorial!
Glad you enjoyed it Chris. Yes, it's a stunning place and I'm planning to get out and about a bit more before the borders open to tourism again. It's an ideal opportunity for me to visit unique locations without hoards of people fighting for the best angles!
Hi Anthony. Personally, I find the HSL tool in Luminar 4 easier as it display Highlight, Saturation and Luminance on the same panel, without the need to click on any drop-down menu icon. The same is true for show/hide mask. I prefer Luminar 4's layout as the button is always visible on the top bar as an eye icon, without having to search for it in another drop-down menu, so in this sense Luminar AI has made editing more difficult, "well done" Skylum tech guys! 😾 Cheers! Felix the Cat! 😼
Update 2! Hi again Anthony, I managed to do a reasonable job after using the plugin, I used the AI Enhance and AI structure tools, but there was a still strong orange and red cast due to the poor light level when shot. I used a combination of the white balance, dodge and burn, exposure and other light adjustments, it's now reasonable, but still lacks detail. Cheers! Felix the Cat! 😺
Update! Hi Anthony, I ran the same picture using Luminar 4 and opened up Topaz Denoise AI as a plugin. I chose the 'Low Light' option and it had done a reasonable job in getting rid of the noise. One caveat though, the picture now lacks detail, I will try Luminar 4's AI Structure to bring back some detail, I will give you an update accordingly! Cheers! Felix the Cat. 😺
Adding magenta tone gives the sunset a nice FD filter effect! I think is cool! It's difficult to obtain good FD filters, most of them are cheap resin ones! It's good to be able to replicate the effect in Luminar AI. Cheers! Felix the Cat! 😺
Thanks Amnon. Cheers for the other message too. 👍 No workshops as yet... perhaps when our borders open again post covid. Is it something you'd be interested in or just curious? Cheers.
Hi !! Thank you for your video! I feel very comfortable with Luminar. What would be the next level of software that you recommend? I would like to be able to layer, add motion and elements. Thanks!!! 😊
Noise problems! Hi again Anthony, I used Luminar AI to enhance some of my old JPEGs taken on Safari, but the noise reduction tool is inadequate, I'm especially referring to the the colour noise reduction tool. Normally I would open the library up in Luminar 4 and use Topaz De-noise AI as a plugin, but like I said yesterday, this is not possible with Luminar AI. Also the suggested templates are not always the best! Regards from Felix the Cat! 😼
Yes please Anthony. As I said before, I find using the curves function difficult, I usually mess it up! Could you then upload a video on using curves! Thanks! Felix the Cat! 😺
Hi Anthony, love your videos. I am in the process of searching an alternative to Lightroom Classic and Luminar AI was in my radar. After watching your videos I was going to buy it, but suddenly it disappeared from their website. Then I tried Luminar Neo, but the workflow changed quite a bit and I am not sure what to do. Did they definitely abandone Luminar AI version or what?. Thanks for your help!
Hi mate, Yes a while back Skylum announced they were going to be focusing on NEO as it is a better platform for future development. TBH I prefer Neo as it has more depth for the editing process. You can still get it here as a one time purchase rather than just the subscription option bit.ly/Luminar-NEO the ATNEO discount may still work but I'm not 100% sure. Try it and let me know! 😀
AI is newer and runs faster than Luminar4. Layers were removed from LAI but the texture tool has brought back most of that functionality anyway. Bottom line: You're all good with Luminar AI 👍
when you adjusted the thumbnails, are the changes baked in so that when the program is closed or another batch of images is viewed one can return to the folder of images and see the "synched" results or do the thumbnails revert to "from the camera"? TIA
I'd need to double check on that but I believe the thumbs are not "baked-in" and remain relative to the Luminar database only. IE you won't see that version of the thumbnail in the explorer view. (I think - don't quote me 😉)
I am running into all kinds of problems trying to 'copy adjustments' and then pasting them on to a large selection of images as it's copying the colour temp and tint amount so totally changing the white balance. The photos are all taken in very different lighting conditions so it makes them all look totally wrong. How do I stop it from changing the White Balance? I have tried manually setting the white balance to 'As Shot' before copying or syncing but it just ignores this and copies whatever colour temp and tint values that original photo had and applies them to every single photo. To be clear, all I want to do is apply a template to a load of images. Rather than simply selecting all the photos and then clicking the template you want to apply, you have to do it to just one photo then copy all the settings from that photo and apply them to the rest, which is where all the problems are coming from. Any ideas? Thanks.
@@AnthonyTurnham Yeah, at first they said that was 'expected behaviour'. But I pushed back as that really would make it useless for multiple image editing. But then I thought I have seen you apply templates to loads of images before without any issues, so looked into it a bit more and all I can think is it's a Windows error and doesn't happen on Mac OS. You are on Mac right? I made this video to better show the issue: ruclips.net/video/SAva5gI2gM8/видео.html
Anthony! Can't you create the same effects using the "color balance" tools in Color Harmony? Then you can avoid using the curves tool - right? Just a thought! Felix the Cat! 😺
Sure you can do similar colour toning effects. Personally I prefer curves because you can be more precise in targeting colour and contrast too. But yes, I love the fact there's often more than one way to achieve a result.
Perhaps you can compare Topaz Gigapixel AI with Corel's PhotoZoom. I don't have the latest version of PhotoZoom which is PhotoZoom 8, I only have PhotoZoom 7, but after getting the Topaz version I now ignore Corel PhotoZoom as I found the Topaz version to be much easier and better, but then as I said, I don't have the latest Corel version, so I could be wrong. What do you think? Perhaps you could download trial versions and test them out! Cheers! Felix the Cat! 😺
If they already have a prootion running then it may be deactivated. Sometimes they do that so customers aren't able to compound multiple savings. If it's not the reason though, I'm stumped... Thanks for letting me know Angela

Looking forward to do some photo editing from my drone pics!
Love the tip for seeing the dynamic range of your photos. Thanks for sharing! Oh, and yes I'd love to see a video teaching more on how to use curves.

Awesome feedback Jamie!
Wow, this is awesome. I’m new to Luminar as recent as yesterday, 03/16/21. Insane software. 😍
Yeah, it's some pretty clever stuff! And a lot of fun to use too.
Nice work, Anthony! Enjoyable and instructive process. I picked up a few good pointers :) . Yes, please re curves!
Cheers for the feedback Andrew
Great insight into your workflow. Thanks !!
My pleasure Robert!
Hi Anthony thanks for some very educational videos. Im 71 and you never stop learning. I would be a fan for a video about curves tool. Gary.
Yes please for a curves tutorial 😊
Thanks Bev

Thanks 👍

More info on how to get the best results from using the curve tool, Anthony.
Consider your vote for that counted Ken! Thanks

Hi Anthony! Another interesting tutorial. Felix the Cat.
Thanks Anthony. Loved the process though I think the final result was a bit too much...
wuould love a good curves tutorial :)
Yeah. Absolutely too much. I was considering titling the video, "my worst edit in Luminar yet" or something to that effect! Curves request noted!
I’d like to learn more on curves
Yes, I have always found it difficult to use curves!
Yes please Anthony. As I said before, I find using the curves function difficult, I usually mess it up! Could you then upload a video on using curves! Thanks! Felix the Cat! 😺
I think I'll have to do that. I'll just see if there's more interest first. I've got so much on my plate at the moment!
Curves. Yes.

What is the main difference between Luminar 4 and Luminar AI? I bought the AI recently but it appears that Luminar is better.

Do we have panorama merge in luminar ai ?
Hi Arun, no pano merge isn't a feature in Luminar AI.
Curves.
Have you done a video on editing smoke photos in AI please,
Hi Linda. I haven't I'm afraid.
Luminar website does not accept the promotional code ATSKY10, any ideas? Thanks!
