    My parents in 1975 bought a school bus and we lived in it full time on the road pulling a shop trailer making redwood signs for 22 years full time 22 years I was 14 when the started and went on my own at 18-19 years old t thought we where poor now in 2023 I know we lived best life ever key west to Seattle to San Diago to NY.

    I knew a guy who converted diesel pusher busses to motor homes. The key to putting metal in the windows place, is to heat the metal with sun lamps then drill and weld them in place, when it cools, it will be tight/flat surface.

      It's the engine I'm wondering about. That's a great price but that's because fixing the engine's going to cost 40 Grand this might have been a lot of work for nothing

    OH MY GOD!!! Your seats use bolts?
    I had to grind 4 steel rivets from each of the seats, in my 37ft bus! Huge job.

    I hated removing those tracks in my bus! That was one of the worst parts with the exception of the 10,000 rivets I had to remove. Hahaha

    The weight of the wood decreases has milage very significantly. Did it to van in late 70s miles per gl.was nuts like 6 pr 8 mpgs. Just saying and in the mountains lololololol 3or4 mpgs. A bus has to be worse. Looks great no question the question is are you driving or docking. That's what will really matter. Financially.

    Take out the seats, put carpet in the floor, paint the inside and then decide what you want it to look like inside.

    I have seen old school busses converted into nice camping mobile homes with 2 bedrooms bath kitchen
    You have to have a plan and follow through

    What did you do with all those seats? You could have made them into seating for booths just have to add the table. Food for thought. That is a School bus.

    What’s the easiest way to get the bus windows out when they have rivets??

      Probably an air chisel. If you have an air compressor you just need the chisel attachment and it's not to expensive.

    Would it have been cheaper in the long run to find a used Greyhound bus and convert it? They are built to handle many more miles.. BTW you guys are doing a great job... If that is Limestone Tn, I'm just up the street...

      We used an Espar D5e heater and it works amazing! Kept us warm even when well below freezing.

    Aren't you insulating the walls/floor/ceiling? I didnt see you putting in any sort of sound proofing either. Surely that will make the bus really echoey??

      We insulated the walls and ceiling with 2 inches of closed cell spray foam and have 2 inches of rigid foam on the floor. We also put killmats throughout.

    Why not leave the existing insulated roof/walls/ceiling and the bigger and more numerous windows that are already installed?

      The bus would be very poorly insulated if we did that. We took all that out and put in spray foam and RV windows so the bus stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This is going to be our home so we need it to be comfortable.

    Interesting build, but a question...
    With all the wood in the ceiling, doesn't that make this thing incredibly top heavy? I drive the full size version of these things for my local school district, and just having a bunch of luggage in the students' seats with them makes my bus roll in the corners terribly.
