    Nothing is said about the Venture Pro being used for large game hunting . Last week, mine worked very well during an elk hunt. A nice sized scalpel with excellent edge retention. Thanks again Felix .

      @@ChrisDraussen One 'grind' cannot be best at everything. Probably best to have both a keen edged knife and another edged tool for the heavier work. But if you can have only one, there's no beating a good knife.

      @@ChrisDraussen If you are in an actual outdoor survival situation, you will need to hunt, fish and process what you hunt and fish for. I'm not that much into "bushcraft" . Primarily an outdoorsman and hunter. ATB

      @bushcraftbasics2036 Год назад +2

      Our ancestors used sharp rocks to process game so I am sure a skilled hunter can manage with one knife. Probably more effective to use tools designed for specific tasks (skinning vs jointing are quite different and there are good tools to assist with each) but if you have just one knife and the skill and desire to use it go for it

    Felix, I always LOVE watching your videos. I learn a lot and you seem to be a genuinely happy person, which makes me smile. Plus, I am impressed with your command of the English language. I think the word you were looking for to describe one aspect of the Beech bark was, "translucent" which is one aspect of transparency that you correctly described.
    I am grateful that your channel exists! Vielen dank!!!

    Hi Felix!
    Thanks for the update! It is good to hear this from Victorinox, and demonstrates their integrity and willingness to LISTEN to their customers! Please pass this on to those who are in charge of the project, as we all look forward expectantly for what is going to come. It would be good to take the required time to do the job thoroughly, as they do everything to do with all their products, rather than a rush job just for the publicity. With you there to advise I'm sure things will be done well and properly.
    Best of wishes to the design and production team!
    Cheers Felix!

    Sowie ich zum ersten Mal Deinen Begriff der "mental Toolbox" gehört habe, ist der in meinen Wortschatz gegangen. Als eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsworte, muss ich dazu sagen.
    Die Buchenrinde ist ein Bit, das ich vielleicht nie brauche. Aber wenn doch mal, dann weiß ich, wo ich's finde: In meiner Kopf-Rumpelkammer!

      Ich gebe auch mal einen kleinen "Schraubenzieher" zurück:
      Absolut nichts trockenes zu finden?
      Du hast aber ein Messer dabei und trägst (hoffentlich?) eine Hose.
      Dann einfach Fasern vom Oberschenkel abschaben! Ein Fingerhut voll reicht und das funktioniert fast noch besser als der berühmte Tampon.

    Good video Mr. Immler as always. Do you know if Victorinox will ever offer the Venture Pro with a Carbon blade only. It would make a good backup for the ferro rod in case it was accidentally broken. One could use a piece of steel or flint to make sparks too.

  • @SteelHex
    @SteelHex Год назад +1

    I have come to the conclusion that the best blade geometry for a camp/bushcraft knife of this size is full flat grind, like this Venture knife. True scandi grind is great, but the edge is a bit weak unless you use a super steel, which ironically takes a very long time to resharpen on scandi, because you have to remove steel from the entire grind! Even Morakniv puts a secondary micro bevel on their knives.
    If you have to use a micro bevel anyway, it’s better to have a full flat ground blade, because it works much better for food prep and other slicing tasks.

    Danke fürs Video, ganz toll!
    Ich kaufe mir vllt auch so ein Messer und bin gespannt auf die neue Scheide. Wäre echt klasse wenn sie das schaffen, ohne Klappern hinzubekommen .. für mich wäre es auch toll, wenn es statt diesen O-Ring einen richtigen Druckknopf mit Schlaufe dran hätte (Wie bei Fallkniven F1). Und die Farben vom Griff da könnte man noch so viel rausholen (die Form ist ja schon super). Vllt ein schöneres schwarz oder Camouflage … (Rot und Grün lassen es leider etwas wie ein Gemüsemesser aussehen) Ich denke das Messer hat so viel Potential. Ich hoffe sie holen da noch einiges raus!
    Beste Grüße

      Hallo Demut
      Danke für deinen netten Kommentar.
      Ich hoffe auch, dass die neue Scheide stramm sitzt und nicht mehr klackert. Wegen den Druckknopf wie beim F1. Da gibt's im Netz viele Leute, die über diese Lösung schimpfen. Z.B. hier: ruclips.net/video/vJ1OBAAvOLg/видео.htmlsi=v2AamNK4q85Zkun1&t=112
      Es allen richtig zu machen ist unmöglich... mit den Farben ist es das selbe. LG Felix

    • @demut192
      @demut192 Год назад

      Hm schwierig ich meinte noch so den alten Druckknopf am Griff oben. Aber ja der O-Ring is vllt auch nicht soo schlecht (wenn er auch auf Dauer hält, wirkt aber einfach alles wackelig). Ja allen kann man es nicht recht machen. Ich kenne das Video .. mein aktuelles ist ein F1. Aber es heißt ja bei der neuen Scheide von Fällkniven, dass es den Griff etwas zerstört wo es reindrückt. Schwierig. Eig mag ich den Griff vom F1 lieber weil es ein angenehmes Gummi (das Schwarz wirkt hier auch wertiger) ist, was den Stahl voll umgibt. Vllt is das vom Vic dafür stabiler. Die Klinge vom Victorinox gefällt mir besser, richtig schön.
      LG zurück.

    What about the issue with the Venture steel/edge that Aaron had over at Gideon's Tactical = warping? Is Victorinox fixing that as well?

    • @FelixImmler
      @FelixImmler  Год назад +1

      There are no issues with the steel. The Venture is a special knife with 0.35mm behind the cutting edge. This is ultra thin. That's why the knife also has great cutting performance. The venture is not designed for batoning...or only for very careful batoning. But when I look at the grain of the wood that Aaron wanted to split... it doesn't get much more stressfull than that. Look at the grain of this piece of wood!! Yes, of course, there are 1000 knives that can handle this without any problems. But why? Because they quickly become thick after the cutting edge. But that also means poorer cutting performance. Knives with 5mm blade thicknesses that could have easily split your branch are available from 1000 companies in 100 variations. We wanted to see if there was a market for the extreme opposite. A Outdoor-Knife that is uncompromisingly focused on good cutting ability. I can now say that there is even a big market for it! Yes, unfortunately the advertising text on the homepage was completely different from what we developers had in mind. That's what happens in a large company when 1000 people bake a cake.

    Hi Felix… nachdem Victorinox die Messer vom Markt genommen hat , bin ich mal gespannt was sich bei den neuen Messern alles geändert . Ob sie nur die Scheide oder auch das Messer selber verbessert haben?
    Grüße Thomas

    It is somewhat disheartening that Victorinox uses customers to do their beta testing. I’m glad I wasn’t quick enough to buy one so now I can get the new model. Thanks!

    Ich wette, es wird eine Eintauschaktion geben. Wäre nur logisch, wenn man die lebenslange Garantie der anderen Messer kennt.
