i asked myself whether we have it worse now than back then or are we just getting old. but this video makes me conclude it was better back then. I'm 26, i was 2 years old in 2000, so i wasnt really around back then, yet i still feel like it was better back then, so to me that's a huge indicator that it was better if even me and other people who werent even alive back then wish things to be like those times.

Also, pretty sure they weren't a band in 2002. Regardless, thank you for the upload. Nothing beats this band live for me. If there was a training manual on how to put on a proper live show these lives show would definitely be a huge part of it.

It couldn't have been great. I know Omar is regarded as a phenomenal guitar genius mastermind these days but live he plays like a fucking dickhead during the end of ATDI. It's not surprising they didn't last much longer.
I feel bad for the sound tech. Looks like the staff was having enough of Cedric’s many tantrums. After watching endless shows and interviews this dude was a walking drama queen. It’s no wonder the only person who could deal with his shit was Omar.
Okay, I love this band, BUT you can see that they just had not found their core yet, the wavelength of sonic assault that mowed over the audience. They were very close, the musicianship was miles ahead, the stagemanship was clearly on display, but there was a pulse, an intensity found in Relationship of Command that was just out of reach
Damn. I was 18. We thought we didn’t have much, but we had EVERYTHING. This is what being young should sound like. Unapologetically alive.
I was 18 too

Cedric unplugged some random thing on stage and put the plug in his mouth during one armed scissor lol
Im so down to keep finding more footage of these guys

Man they are whipping ass, would love to have seen them in concert back then. They are peaking in more ways than one here lol
I saw them and it was awesome. The. When they joined Mars Volta it was over.
Masashi Tamaki: your honor, Cedric Bixler-Zavala will never get down

The early 00’s were a great time to be alive.
Jim Ward is amazing!
This is gold man!.. and the performance of Rascuache is from another dimension.
"you and your probing camera" 🤣I i'm already loving this footage

Metronome Arthritis is so fucking good, one of my favs by far
this video is a gem!
probably one of their best songs they ever did. the ending leaves you wanting more.
34:22 what the hell
Tf!!!
this is what nu metal did to people
incredible footage travis.
Love that The Pixies are just crushing it in the background. I really was born 10 years too late
That's another band playing "Where Is My Mind", Pixies did not exist between 1993-2004 and nobody from Pixies played at this fest
@@erickempke2036 Good to know. The latter part of my statement stands lol.
@@erickempke2036 Do you know which band it is?
WRONG
This day was hotter than balls and I remember there being one water fountain in the whole place. Sick set though
@9:06 Brother is like "Is he choking?' 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds like Modest Mouse playing at the 33:15 mark
Modest Mouse - Tiny Cities Made of Ashes

This is the coolest Irvine has ever been🤘🏾
Does anyone have any idea what song starts playing around the 40:00 minute mark? Sounds sick.
3:52 i don't even think that bottle reached the crowd
During metronome when he starts screaming at the poor sound tech lmao
I wanna say the asian guy with the bowl cut is Daniel Shimizu.
the 2000s, when the more you looked like an inflatable car dealership balloon man the more it hit different
Good old days when people watched bands and soaked up the experience .. instead in today's world when everyone pulls out there phones and records...
How did this get recorded? 🤯
Bye a stage hand on vhs camera 🎥
How was the dynamic between jim and omar during this time?

I could never get into catacombs. I’m surprised it was ever a single and that they played it live so much
PIXIES and ATDI

Believe it or not but everyone in this video is now in nursing homes.

when omar had soul and was proud of his band..he turned out to be the biggest dissapointment
Sparta making the music. Those other two…
making music beyond music
you are a funny guy. haha
I like the band, but I never understood the "ants in the pants" dancing.
Got anymore from the Picnic fests in 99/00? I never liked ATDI and I was super annoyed during this set
I’m not sure who else even played can’t remember- maybe
@@BUDDYHEAD I remember Grandaddy having to basically drown out Don Caballero who were going over their stage time
@@erickempke2036 I didn’t catch those sets
Everyone else didnt fucking matter atdi and black sheep managment for the win
Not a good band. Not at all. Wow…
omg your right, please do not ever make music or join a band, unless you want to end up like these guys. stay away at all costs.
“Steve lacy” get out of here you listen to over produced, boring music
0:04 how did u get a hold of omar for 1 second and thats it? haha
