Went down this river twice about 10 years ago. Flipped the kayak a few times to cool off. Saw a bunch of a manatees and a ton of trout. The water is crystal clear all the way down, I highly recommend this especially in the summer when the temps are in the upper 90's and humid.
How far down did you go? We were dropped in at Rodgers Park, paddled about 4 miles up stream then rode the current back. Sadly, we didn’t see anything.... We didn’t go all the way down by Buccaneer Bay.
I went from just after Buccaneer Bay to Rodgers park. I went in Winter( January ) when the Manatees come up the river where the water is warmer. I believe they are only there from like maybe late November to March early.
Hi, do you remember the temperature of that day you did kayaking? Recently I went there but didn't see manatee in the state park part but only see them in hospital hole near Roger's park. Staff of state park said the weather is warm so manatee didn't come.
I went on a weekday (Tuesday or Wednesday) and got there around 10am. Took about 4.5 hours to go from where I dropped in all the way to Rogers Park to get out. I stopped a few times for jumps, pictures and a bite to eat. Have a great time!
Yes you can rent equipment. I rented straight from the state park which is where the river starts. The river ends at rogers park. The rental is for 4 hours and was $35US which included a Kayak, Paddle, Life Vest and Shuttle return. So you park your car at the entrance and get your kayak there. Then you paddle all the way down to rogers park where they have staff waiting to collect the kayak and gear and you wait for their shuttle van to pick you up and take you back to entrance where you parked your car. Very easy, streamline process and friendly staff. You can book online or call to book. Best to reserve your spot though to make sure they don't rent out. They also rent paddle boards and 2 person kayaks. Here is the state park link where you can rent equipment and find out more information. You will have a blast! :) weekiwachee.com/kayak-rentals/rentals/
is the place with the jumping tree close to entrance or the end at rogers park? I will be there in the beginning of March, hope I will be lucky to see the manatees too
This is amazing! I rented a house on the river about 15 houses down from Roger's Park. I'll be going next week. Is this a good area for mid February to swim with them or do I need to head more towards the Gulf? Awesome video!
Thank you! Yeah it really depends of how the weathers been. If its been cooler for a couple weeks they tend to come warm up in the river because its a constant 72 degrees. Ive seen a few cruising the river and sometimes alot congregate at hospital hole (close to rogers park where its deepest). And Ive seen some just past rogers park heading to the gulf. I'm usually there mid to late January. You are going to love it. Have a blast!
Can’t watch because I’m soooo jealous. Nothing like that within a 250+ mile drive of me an definitely no manatees!!!! Oh, already watched most while typing; might as well finish 😃🚣♂️
Yes there are many gators actually, but they are not on the main river part, but if you go off into the canals where the water is warmer then you will see them.
Thanks for watching! Comment, Like, Share and Subscribe for more videos!

At 4:06 is this part of the river near the gulf or is it inland? I see saltwater fish... looks like a great spot 🤙🏻
