You can't judge JWill by his stats, but rather by his entertainment value. Every game was like watching the Globetrotters, until Pat Riley finally got him to settle down at Miami. Then he became a solid point guard on an elite team. But I prefer the old JWill who would go 2-20 one night, then hit for 38 the next night on a crazy variety of upside down, inside out, spinning backwards HORSE shots and 40-foot 3-pointers. "Disciplined" players are boring players, but JWill drew oohs and aahs.
I disagree with the disciplined players being boring part, implies you don't understand good team basketball and would rather go for highlight plays than the right plays.
You can judge him by his stats actually. It's why he was such a disappointment. Obviously tremendously talented. If he indeed was more disciplined and had better shot selection he probably could've been a multiple all star player.
He used to step into threees and miss.... it definitely was annoying back then to see but now it’s so common- coaches would have coronary when they used to see that
It was all hubie. Riley is all about Showtime. Just like his Lakers. It had to remind him of magic with some of the things he did with the ball and getting teammates involved. Not saying his magic. Just the Showtime idea. Riley is Showtime
I feel like a part of JWill's game that never got enough credit, and was there even late in his career, was his quickness. When he decided to drive to the basket there were few guards he couldn't get by.

So let's check the stats for this game.. JW - 10pts 4rb 6as on 4-15 shooting (0.267%) RM - 18pts 7rb 3as on 6-15 shooting (40%) with 3-7 three pointers and the WIN I don't think Reggie got outplayed.. he was 36 at the time, so I'd say he had a pretty good game actually
Yav Ivanov the two are uncomparable, it's like comparing Allen Iverson and shaq, they have two different playstyles, JW is a playmaker and made his team score better, and he danced around RM, so technically he schooled him, RM just shot more
Yav Ivanov the two are uncomparable, it's like comparing Allen Iverson and shaq, they have two different playstyles, JW is a playmaker and made his team score better, and he danced around RM, so technically he schooled him, RM just shot more
I watched 18 seconds and decided this was the worst JW video ever. RM was most certainly not "schooled" by JW. I don't know who runs this channel but they should be banned from the internet for lying.
I don't get the title of this video. Jason didn't school Reggie. Jason had 10 pts and 6 assists and shot 26% from the field. Reggie had 18 pts and 7 boards and shot a higher percentage, plus, Indiana got the win. This clip sums up Jason WIlliams' career pretty well. He averaged 10 and 6 for his career and shot less than 40%. Flashy and fun to watch, but really, he was an average NBA player at best and not someone you could win with running the point.
IamConquistador It's cuz later in his career he settled down a bit, and became more effective. Cared more about being consistent, rather than being flashy at that point.
Peja Stojaković "the black hole" & Hedo "Türko-glue". Bobby Jackson " You pass to them, it ain't coming back. You immediately start boxing your man out because that rock's going up."
Bibby was a great player too though. Just a different type of PG. They also actually went farther with Bibby and should of had a ship with him. But of course we know what happened
CJ Little Bibby was good, but I felt Williams was a better shooter and had more finesse ... and yes, I wish they could've taken that ring from LA (guess we'll just take away one of Kobe's)
xinkspillx Wait, you do remember watching them play right? J-Will was nowhere near the shooter Bibby was. What made J-Will was obviously his handles and passing but he had an inconsistent jump shot while Bibby was pretty much money especially when we needed that key basket
CJ Little from what I remember, Bibby really couldn't shoot worth a damn ... he had streaks, but J-Will was a better facilitator and that's what SAC needed most.
Lol you definitely don't remember Bibby then unless you remember him from his Hawk days. Around 01-05, he was easily one of the best mid range shooting PGs in the league. He could make 3s too but the midrange was his game. That great 02 playoff run Sac had would of not been nearly what it was had Bibby not been there. He was always the one that would step up and make the big shot
+Abuadam Alsamet Always wanted CWebb to get that chip. Ditto Peja and Bibby. Or White Chocolate. Jesus, Webber was a frigging beast for years. I blame Don Nelson! That guy was almost as cancerous as Chris Cohen for the Warriors (maybe it's a bit homerish, but while GSW was always #1 in my hears, the Kings were #2, with a sharp, if distant tie between the Lakers and Spurs for #3. The Clippers just need to leave CA, IMO.)
Dwight Love Well, from what I heard it was about money--so more of the blame belongs with former owner Cohen, who simply didn't want to pony up for Webber to stay--but Nelson apparently exacerbated the situation in some way. At this point, it doesn't really matter...but my god, GSW was poised to have a conference-level team in future years. All we needed was someone to replace Seikaly at center, and the results could have been amazing. Ah well. Could have beens.
+MrBrachiatingApe Thanks for the info on the owner I never knew about the financial side of Webber leaving GSW at the time your right it could have been something special.Nelson's relationship with rookie players was something I read about from several media sources.
That Kings team , was fun to watch... they would have been a great team in this new NBA... they had great shooters and big men who could pass , shoot , and Play the block... C web was unstoppable this year... finished 4 in MVP voting averaged 28 -10 and 5 assist.
what is that dribbling violation called (2:13) watch right after that time ---- Everyone schooled Reggie Miller for the record --- I always enjoyed J Will on the court.
One thing I admire from late 90's early 2000's Is if you where a good wing are point Guard the best found the best wasn't no duckin ya taco!! They really went at it!! 🤣🤣 But I L❤VE How the Game as evolved!!
Jason Williams was the reason I became a huge basketball fan after Jordan retired. I became a huge Kings fan because of him. The league dropped the ball on containing his style. They didn't like him, because he wasn't a kiss but player, and had a bit of an attitude. He just wanted to ball, and wasn't going for any nonsense.
Players like Tim Duncan are great for an organisation and championships but if you truly want to enjoy watching a game and remember it for most of your life, J-will would easily provide you with that. You have to really understand the game to appreciate Duncan's playstyle and finesse but any ordinary guy could go oohh and ahh from seeing J-will. He actually played basketball for what it is was meant to be, something fun.
This was right around the beginning of the end for great NBA basketball. Before the league became soft, no defense, zones, players all friends with eachother joining up to play. Shaq, Kobe, Garnett, Vince, TMac, Webber, Pierce, Iverson, White Chocolate, Wade, Marbury, Ray Allen, Rasheed, Baron Davis, Stoudamire, Steve Francis, Lamar Odom (pre-Kardashian was NASTY), Yao, Antoine Walker, Rip Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Chauncey, Dirk, Nash, Duncan, Carmelo, Kidd etc etc. The league went to shit when LeBum became the star, everyone is buddy buddy instead if wanting to beat eachother, they join eachother.
...I have never heard people praise them for making non-fundamental plays. They are criticized for those plays, but they are put in such high regard because of their potential. Beside, I think they will do pretty good against any one of us despite their "unsound" play.
Big JWill fan, Seen like 80% of his games in career. Strange though he averaged the most minutes his rookie year. Still a good career, but I think he could have worked out more & on defense.
+Doug Butthole Yeah I hear ya when him and do wade were on Miami together they were fighting for the lime light and wade eventually just pushed williams into retirement that may not be the case but that's what it felt like to me
Sorry I meant Gerald Green, not wallace. My mind is slipping lol. I realise they are much better than the average person, that is not my point. I am making a comparison of the modern game to the past. Fundamentals are simply underappreciated, and as long as a player is athletic they are regarded that highly
+alexxo78 because miller was the best defender that was quick enough to guard him for most the game, but j will got around him a few times but thats what he did to the best defenders all the time J will was a human freak, he is like 42ish and can still ball like crazy
Before their was "The Professor" there was Jason Williams! Jason was off the chain!
You can't judge JWill by his stats, but rather by his entertainment value. Every game was like watching the Globetrotters, until Pat Riley finally got him to settle down at Miami. Then he became a solid point guard on an elite team. Hubie Brown gave him discipline in memphis Pat Riley wanted him to go back to white chocolate during the playoffs on their Championship run
"Just look at J Williams, stops on a dime, gives you 9 cents change and a little loopity loop" lmao these commentators funny
Lol facts. Lol
They funny AF lol
😂😂😂
I forgot how fast JWill was watching him as an old player in Miami. I wish someone like JWill comes into the league again.
I feel like a part of JWill's game that never got enough credit, and was there even late in his career, was his quickness. When he decided to drive to the basket there were few guards he couldn't get by.
j will was the point guard every big man wish they had
Yep the number 1 wish
i know steph is a point guard, or so they say, but he is more of a shooting guard. stockton wouldve been a better comparison.
Stockton had been a much better clutch shooter than J Will. It's not fair to J Will for us to use a Hall of Famer for comparison.
kaybronson100 What’s even funnier is Stockton couldn’t check J Will. Roll the tape.....
Chris Webber never really liked JWill and preferred Bibby instead. Webber kept quiet about it because the fans loved White Chocolate.
Crazy randy moss and him played on the same HS basketball team. for such a small, rural, town to produce two great athletes
They played little league baseball with each other. Then went to DuPont high school and played b-ball with each other.

holy crap Webber had 51 pts in this game.
I'm sure most of them followed a pass from J Will...
I love me some White chocolate but 6 ast doesnt come close to 51 pts
reservoirman - should be a HOFamer.
He took 47 shots ...
J Wills bounce passes are so pretty.
2:29 is one of the best passes I've ever seen tbh
So let's check the stats for this game..

Sylvester Savage who's Jason Williams????u dare compare Miller to Williams...even if Miller has no rings...his HOF unlike Williams just a scrub....
Yav Ivanov... I don't get it either. I always say to the young scrubs, you can dribble all you like as long as my team has the W, I'm good.
clearly he didn't "shoot more" this game though lol.
Such a smooth playmaker, makes everything look easy
yeah but actually it is very hard to do...
Nice JW highlights- yes
“Schooling RM” - nope
I agree. Webber picks helped out JW. Otherwise, RM was giving some good D.

an average NBA player at best, wow
I get your point but ther is no way jwill was an average player, he was statisticly avarege but all in all he was incedible
he only accounted for at least 22 points a game and played 13 years......pretty average, idiot.
JasonWilliamsMixs great vid here. Just came across looking for old school matchups!
There are a lot of creative basketball during that period. Miss that time, kobe shaq, vince, t Mac, Ai
The way Jason shoots is so smooth and right on the money
Jason Williams one of the best NBA point guards ever! And streetballer as well! Huge respect for this guy! 🙏⚖️🔥😄 Just like the professor!
All I remember about that Kings team IS THAT THEY GOT ROBBED IN THE PLAYOFFS.... New Orleans Saints style set up.
Peja Stojaković "the black hole" & Hedo "Türko-glue".

miss that kings team

Most underrated player of all time.
dude that energy

straight up at 1:18 they didn't give white chocolate continuation. the league has changed so much
J will was great
@1:13 in today's NBA that would be an and one.
So much more exciting than today’s basketball.
Glad Williams got a ring. I would have preferred it at Sacramento too.
@4:29 Worst pronunciation of any basketball player's name ever.
He-dough To-cou-lu
True. But to be fair, Hedo hadn't really made a name for himself at this point in his career.
Wish Reggie and Barkley were on 2K‼️✅ They would go so hard on there‼️ FACTS‼️✅✅💯
He's the real Professor
JWill was so fun to watch. Like Iverson he was fast and fun to watch. He prolly should've gotten more All Star looks.

Pretty sure Webber did not enjoy leaving this team to play with Iverson and the sixers.

Who's more exciting curry or williams ?
That guy was a menace on the hardwood.
Damn that man was lightning fast
JDub and Reggie are my favorite players of all time

I was at this fame. 6th grade Chris Webber was going off and we still lost at home lol
Webber had awesome hands. He caught anything he touched!
J will had that violent crossover
the good old kings
JWill and Reggie Miller. Two of my favorite white NBA players.
williams+weber vs. lebron+wade who wins?
+king_crimson Lebron and Wade. I love my Kings but J Will's jump shot was shaky as hell, and he wouldn't be able to stop D-Wade on defense.

18 seconds in , wasnt that back court violation?
Nah he passed it before he crossed the half court line.
Jay was before his time ...you could tell the pacers were old and didn't know nothing bout that play 😂😂
And that's why Reggie don't have a ring he only barks the dude has no D in him.
The title is so misleading.
J will and a young athletic C-Webb #legendary
schooling where??? These clowns should be suspended from RUclips for this silly ass, misleading titles
Exactly. I stopped at like 45 seconds because even though I hated Reggie Miller, I saw no schooling whatsoever.
nlwilliams31 I didn't see much of a schooling just Jason Williams with some sweet passing
nlwilliams31 LOL
who won?
Seemed like the only guy on the court that played for fun instead of money and fame.
I must say this J.W. Playing in NBA
Is he better then Iverson?
Piotr C fuck no
How you gonna fight someone then wear their shoes??
jason williams or mike bibby?
ugie88 J Will
The one n only "WHITE CHOCOLATE" baby! 🔥💪💯
both are my fav players. jwill will school reggie on dribbling and passing. reggie will send jwill to kindergarten on clutch.
The Uncrowned King
How come it was Riggie Miller guarding Jason Williams? SG guarding PG?
+alexxo78 because miller was the best defender that was quick enough to guard him for most the game, but j will got around him a few times but thats what he did to the best defenders all the time J will was a human freak, he is like 42ish and can still ball like crazy
Always the quickest guy on the court
James Matthews ... not when they played Philly...
