    This is from February 1997 -- Feb. 17, if my memory holds. Irving Plaza, New York. I was there! Jeff announced from the stage that the concert was being taped for an HBO special. I didn't have HBO at the time, and have been hunting for the footage ever since. Thanks for posting!

    I live in STL and he was hesitant when the band first formed (Wilco) to play this but he's very comfortable now and this and Casino Queen (across from the Arch) are usually always played at his STL shows.

    Saw them at the Troubador, same time as Being There was out. Jeff wore pajamas. Winona Ryder and Rosana Arquette were in attendence. Incredible show, 2 nights, 1 was broadcast live on a local FM station.

    Bob Egan is the guitarist to John Stirratt's left. He toured with Wilco between 1996 and 1998.

    RIP Jay. First saw Wilco at HORDE Tour in 1994 or 95 in VA. They played one of the side stages...Blues Traveler and Black Crows were the main acts.

    Saw them play August, 1996 in Huntsville, Alabama at a small town jam. Were known as the ex-Uncle Tupelo band. Probably about 25 people were there, ignoring Travis Tritt and a pianist/bizarro act called Jason D Williams nearby. Little did we know then that in a month the legendary Being There would be released.

    @CancerWTF Time for some Uncle Tupelo 101: When the band split, Farrar went and formed Son Volt, while Tweedy and others formed Wilco. This song was originally an Uncle Tupelo song, but in this video, it is being performed by Wilco, which explains the absence of Farrar.

    Wilco has always been a great band and continue to be, despite a slightly different sound with more technical and polished musicians in their current line-up. While I prefer their older, more country/roots-rock stuff, I saw them live last year and I was blown away by their incredible performance. Jeff Tweedy is a God

  • @Diabeticuss
    @Diabeticuss 13 лет назад +1

    @SirRedSun88 I love the twang, but bro, wilco has evolved so well. Ya i would dig a more country roots vibe, but i just saw the group a week ago and fucking believe me, the group is so complete with nels.amazing group.

    Nels isn't trying to play these songs like they were played nearly 20 years ago. Nels has a fine grasp on the subtleties and reinterprets them into his own style, not Jay's.

    Went to see them at a bar in 2000 in Iowa City. Walked out thinking, what the heck happened to Wilco. Worst mistake of my life. I've since made up for it.

    I mean, I don’t want to spit on any graves here, but at this point Jay figured he was Lennon to Jeff’s McCartney. Jeff didn’t see it that way and sent Jay packing. Migraine vomit and diet coke, on display in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart.
