Finally! Some accurate info on rod bearings. My co-worker has an ‘08 with 150k miles (240,000km) and it’s on the stock bearings. I’ve seen cars on the forums with 260k miles (418,000km) with their stock bearings. It’s all about how you drive the car (letting the oil temp reach at least 200 before going past 3k rpm.)

It’s a bit odd watching your video retroactively since i actually purchased my E92 M back in February but I must commend your thought process and presentation. Personally i did not do many of the things you mentioned here however I did have an owner/friend with an E92 M that was able to help through most of the process (including even viewing the car I ended up buying). Self reliance for the majority of scouting work is highly recommended but one thing I would add is definitely rely on a trustworthy source if and when possible for second opinions as they will almost certainly notice things you can miss and be very helpful when gaining perspective on a potential match for your budget and spec. All the best and look forward to seeing more content on your car.
Oh and just in case you wonder, its an Interlagos Blue E92 Manual 87k (bearings replaced by previous owner before it was sold and included the oil analysis and original bearings with the service pack). 😊

Hello! Thanks for commenting! I really appreciate the feedback! 😊 Everyone goes about purchasing a car in a different way, the goal was to show how I went about purchasing mine to help those make the right purchase especially as these care are delicate aha!
I 100% agree if you have someone that can come with you that is such a major help especially if they already have an E9X! and I’m glad you had your own process to purchase and got the car you wanted! Hopefully your comment will also add value to anyone who is watching this to view an M3! 😄
Ahh I was so close to getting interlagos blue its such a nice colour! That is a great point actually another thing you can ask the owner to prove when buying! and also something you can do once purchased to check the condition of the bearings! How are you finding E92 life? and whaty did you have before?
      Thanks
      George

FLOORit thank you for the kind reply, so far so good the only minor thing in 500 miles is a blocked windscreen washer filter and a windscreen chip so nothing amounting to a horror story 🤞. Prior to the E92 I had an S reg Techno Violet E36 323i manual coupe which i bought late 2013 and served me well for 45k miles, sadly it had a front end hit in January that forced me to get a cheap runabout and then the next month I dived into the E92.
Running the M3 on a budget isn’t easy but also not impossible, provided you can set a little aside each month to cope with the inevitable consumables and dont put a ton of miles on the car - I am finding the latter harder to do certainly haha.
Next time I visit family down your neck of the woods I shall have to make a point of finding that B road and having a little blast, all the best and look forward to you next videos.
      Cheers - Lewes 🙏

No worries! Ah sounds like a dream start to ownership then! Oh I do love an E36! Are you happy with the E92 vs that? Yeah they are not cheap to run that’s for sure! I use mine as a daily and I have just accepted that it will be what it is 😂 I just warm the car up correctly and don’t gas it everywhere all the time 😂 (unless it’s dry) glad to hear you are enjoying it! Yes 100% follow me on insta @M3_floor and I will follow back and then let me know next time you are down! Thanks George 🙂

FLOORit interesting question re: 36 vs 92. Naturally there is the distinct double power difference between them and the E92 being two generations ahead and an M car vs a mid level 6 pot with a 5 speed i did notice a couple of things that stuck out to me, firstly that the heavier chassis on the E9X platform is much more planted yet not as nimble as the 36 in a big way, i had the mtech suspension on mine with genuine bushings all round and it would take corners like an absolute dream inspiring confidence in almost every turn, that coupled with the older fly by wire throttle input encompasses what i miss about older BMW’s. On the flip side for such a heavier car the E9X is still “nimble” for its size and I imagine will keep a lot of current cars on their toes when not on a long straight given the general trend towards larger frames and chassis of modern vehicles in general.
All that being said driving the E92 is very enjoyable and the engine is addicting but it more of an event than a daily, IMO it needs to be considered in that way with the M3 since it does require babying before it can be used, conversely the M52 can literally be started up, driven lightly and within 2 miles it is up to temp and ready to go. My work is roughly 13-14 miles from my home and if driven under 2.5k rpm the E92 is not even fully up to temp by the time i reach work. I would definitely have another E36 in the future but alas i think the age of cheap ownership of those cars is coming to a close at this point.
I popped a follow in IG, i dont tend to post that much on there but am happy to share what I do and will no doubt speak in the future, I grew up in Langley so I know Berkshire reasonably well. All the best - Lew.

I had a look at your E36 photos looked lovely! Yeah the E92 is a heavy beast but if you use the weight in the right way can actually play in your favour to get better rotation around corners. Its not the Ideal daily car that’s for sure haha but its can be done. I agree i will look to get another car in the future as a daily but I’m happy with just the M3 for now aha!
Nice one i followed back keep me in the loop with your E92 😄 thanks - George

I wondering how is it baying 13 years old car? Reason why I am asking is cos I am very close to get one for me , not sure what age but definitely e92 and planning to have it forever until it will be a classic one.

Hi buddy! For me the 07 E92 M3 feels like a new car except the idrive! However I use my phone for everything even in a new car so this doesn’t bother me! You have to be a little more cautious with it as there is no warranty to help (unless you buy one) but really it’s a modern car! Comfy, fast and a easy daily driver if you can afford the fuel haha! Thanks George
