Yes ... 8 sample slots and 4 emitters offer a lot of space to do a variety of things in parallel. What you have to keep in mind, however, is that all emitters share a global amp envelope (when you trigger a note via MIDI). For placing emitters on the grid, there is an extra envelope per emitter.
I understand what you mean... but apart from the fact that a device may be very limited, that has very little to do with the device itself. Since Tempra works with samples and offers you tons of options for dealing with them, the possible sounds are almost endless. Of course a granular synth will always sound like a granular synth. Tempera is definitely not an all-rounder... but for me it is the most exciting and versatile granular hardware synth on the market. Whether you need a granular synth and will use it a lot is another question. For example, I don't have much love for classic analog subtractive synths... they offer me very little variety and are not very versatile... but I still can't imagine life without them.
@@substan_music I understand and agree with your comment. I am still loving simple subtractive synthesis as when I add effects the possiblities are superb. Whether granular is for me is the question, but Tempera sure does it very very well.
I had one, sold it. It has one trick, that is a VERY cool trick, but it is (IMHO) a one trick pony... and too pricy for a single trick that can be done on many samplers today. If it was $400.... then we would be talking!

I don't know of any other device out there that can do what Tempera can do. Perhaps you just gave up after that one trick :P
