As a vertically challenged fellow like yourself, I really appreciate this review. Those guys that can open the tent from the ground and close it from the second step are just freaks. I am looking to purchase one of these RTTs very soon. I was wondering if loosening the rain fly when closing the tent would help with clicking in that bow? My thought is: with that being loose it might allow a little more space to click in the frame. It will add an extra step to tighten up the rain fly afterward but maybe speed up the process by allowing the bow frame to lock faster. Also, by being loose when closing it puts less stress on the button. I would also recommend leaving a window, or the back flap, open to allow the air to escape faster (9:10)
@@g2t Same one. The 49 fits my roof rack perfectly. The 55 would overhang the vehicle just a little bit. My wife is only 5 feet tall. We don't need a lot of room 🤷🏽♂
Follow up comment: I now own the same RTT and have used it a few times since late last year. That front hoop is supper annoying to lock in for me. Have you found a trick? Or has it just gotten easier for you over time? I love the tent otherwise. I find the mattress is comfortable enough but have also picked up the FSR air mattress to compare.
Pushing up the supports is now very easy as I leave the side door and screen unzipped. We literally discovered this a couple weeks ago on our last trip! Try that and let me know.
@@g2t That's the key!! I just went out and opened it up. It definitely was easier. The first side went up no problem but I still had to use my foot to push up the other side. Hey. It went up first try so, that is a huge improvement! 🙏🏽
Hey thanks for a good review! Im thinking about getting one, same size 49 wide. Did you find it wide enough for 2 adults and let’s say sleeping bag and stuff? Im 6’5 wife 5’9. Thanks!
I've been looking at different tent options and I'm wondering if you can keep an additional sleeping pad on top of the mattress in there and still close the tent
@@g2t I’m 6’4 and love the interior space in this tent but I’ve also never been in a rooftop tent that’s had a comfortable mattress and find myself always needing an additional sleeping pad.
Thanks for the thorough review!

And I can really stretch out in the tent! It was as loose and it gets - guess i didn't mention that. What tent are you going with?

It’ll be a little tight. Won’t have much room for “stuff”. My son and I just did a four day and we were comfortable, being 5’6” & 5’8”.
Thanks
Do you have an airflow ramp attached to the front of the tent?
No i do not

Nope. I keep sheets on the existing mattress and I keep a sleeping bag in it. That’s about all and still get it to shut.

Is the bottom a hard shell also or just the cross bars to make it lighter?
It has crossbars. Good question.
