    This model is much more stable than it was being flown in this video - I suspect the bird was a touch tail-happy and rates hadn't been dialed in quite as well as it needed in such gusts. Mine has been a joy to fly and even in my struggles with keeping the tail down on landings, I've been able to overcome all with good technique.

    It looks tail heavy? Either that or you fly 3D reguarly as the prop seems to be dragging it round the sky rather than the aircraft actually flying.

    I have a Dynam Supermarine Spitfire, and it's quite a bit different than yours. The wings on mine were 2 piece with a carbon spar to join them, and they bolted under the fuse. Mine doesn't have flaps like yours, but they can be cut on the wings, and have servo's added, but it has pretty light wing loading, so they really aren't needed.
    I'm going to toss the 35A ESC, and go with a 50A so I can use a 4S battery.
    It's a great plane, and your looks like it flies pretty well.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  7 лет назад

      This Durafly Spit is the best plane they have produced in my opinion. I've had Dynam planes (e.g. the Corsair) and they are miles away from the quality of this plane. FMS get closer. The split flaps make this Spit virtually unstallable which is amazing considering the classic wing shape. I normally pass on my foamies after a few flights but my Durafly Spit is a keeper...and I'd get another if this one passed to the other side. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    I could tell that the wind was blowing (audibly), but the Spit seemed to be unusually jittery. Was that due to the wind, or is it on the verge of being unstable. Where was your Cg, relative to the recommended Cg? Is there any washout in the wingtips? How is it's slow-speed performance? Any noticeable tendency to tip stall? Thanks for the video!

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  6 лет назад

      Most stable slow speed spit I have flown especially with the split flaps. CG as recommended. Stall isnt fairly mild from memory. No sudden tip stall. It was very gusty that day. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    Thanks for the review. The Spitfire is certainly a beautiful plane. I would just like to ask how you feel it handles in the air? I noticed that it was pushed around a lot by the strong wind. Does this plane have any tip stall tendencies? I hate tip stalls.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  8 лет назад

      I cannot give an honest opinion until I get it flying on a calm day. Hopefully early sometime next week. It handled the wind very well and considering I couldn't really trim it out in the 20mph gusty winds. Next vid will be sweet. Low slow rolls, slow and fast passes. Stay tuned. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    thanks for your video..with the 6 channels you think it's necessary to add a UBEC for added security? is a special iron required to add the decals or will a regular clotges iron on low heat with a cloth in between work? thank you

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  7 лет назад

      No need for UBEC. Proper covering iron would be better. Easy for clothes iron to get too hot but could be done that way. Ensure that you peel of the top covering layer off the decal after ironing and application. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    This is my next purchase. Now, I have to know what trims where anticipated and what else was adjusted for the perfect 1st flight. I always have good luck with high wing models but, the low wing has given me many first flight crashes.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  8 лет назад

      It's very easy to fly Robt. On the first flight just get it in the air and get a lot of height to trim it out. Learn how to fly it at height with and without flaps. Do all that before you start bombing around. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    Nice job , but unless you may have already found out , the "machine guns " you mounted are actually 20mm cannons . The machine guns were covered in red to protect from debris till the first firing of the mission . Decals are also my test of patience . Nice vid . Thanks for posting and God Bless .

    HI Thanks for review wow what an improvement over the MK 1A I have modified mine so many times mainly the ridiculous control horn setup i have glued mine permately all over love the new ball joint set up at last they have thought about the ridiculous wiring harness set up and made it simpler can you please give me your views on the 5 blade prop available that requires a bigger motor +esc THANKS FROM DOWN-UNDER TERRY

    Just wondering how this plane (retracts especially) have held up over time? Cheers

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  7 лет назад

      Retract units are very good. Only problem is the wire legs can bend backwards and prevent the wheels going into the wells. Easily solved by bending them back before next flight. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    Are these warbirds too much for a begginer

    • @EssentialRC

      Yes if you've never flown an RC aeroplane before. You would need to learn to fly a high wing trainer first. Slower and more stable

    The removal of tips is to produce the Clipped Wing Spit that was designated the LF low altitude version.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  8 лет назад

      Thanks buddy. During the vid I was lost for words when I got to that bit. Couldn't remember the word 'clipped' for some bizarre reason. I like the Spit how it is to be honest. I think taking the tips off and replacing with those white foam parts would detract from the look of it but thanks for the info. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    • @br14nh
      @br14nh 7 лет назад

      It's also because that particular squadron code - AE-A - was a LF verison, and images abound on the web as it is still flying today

    • @br14nh
      @br14nh 6 лет назад

      Update to my previous comment - the actual plane has since been flown with the full wing tips installed, so I feel better that I can leave the wings as they are and its still an "officially accurate" version of the plane... :)

    • @EssentialRC

      No. This is for an intermediate to expert RC pilot who has their own transmitter, receiver and battery. If you are new to RC flying you should be trying something like this bit.ly/eachineMiniP51dMustang or this bit.ly/volantexRcSportCub

    Nice video and review,but i have had a few of these and the retracts are really crap, a few landings like yours there and say goodluck to them.... E-flite range of warbirds are far better and have AS3X to help stabilise them better, not been mean about HK's range but just my opinion.

    Why does it track so bad?
    Its all over the place, not sure if motor angle of thrust or loose elevator hinges, too much play, or cg is off... just flies horrible.

  • @timon3211

    learn to fly a spit will ya, you need to keep the power on other wise it will tail slide and stall as we have seen here and to be honest either its windy or the plane is bad at flying.
