Truly appreciate the videos. Just got the Roland D-05 and I've been enjoying it now that I have a better understanding of how synthesis works within this powerful unit by watching your videos.
Hi..I have a question about the Roland D05. Why every sound bank that I would load on the synth..are placed every on bank 8? How I can change the bank before copy into the synth? Thanks😊😊
I actually think from the insight of your video that Roland have implemented this step sequencer really well. Adding/changing the notes and tie-ing them on the fly seems particularly well done. If this was combined with a more hands-on synth interface that would be a definite winner. And credit to Roland for improving the sequencers on the Boutiques as they have gone along.
Thanks for the explanations, though I've searched through the video, and I didn't see where I can actually save the sequencer patterns I program, which makes it quite useless. I wonder if you could explain how to actually save these patterns so they can be used in the future. Thanks again
Anyone know if there is a way to stop the sequencer from triggering when its connected to an external MIDI device with Start/Stop messages? Every time I hit the record button in my daw or external sequencer, it starts one of the many sequenced patterns on the D-05. This renders it useless in a setup. Very annoying.
Very good video, well explained! You've got my thumb up. Is there a way to save these sequences / arpeggiatios and thus be able to create a number of these and call upon them when needed? If you power down the device and later on power up, will the 'recording' still be present?
@Luc Lafontaine I've tried to recall my sequences, but have never been able to. If they actually can be saved, I would expect that there is a sequence of controls that must be gone through to save them.
Thanks for your time and patience in making this. The D-05 is a lovely synth in terms of sounds but is quite difficult in learning how to program / edit so appreciate this. One minor quibble - you didn't illustrate how to save your sequence...
Question: I see you can load SysEx Patches onto the Korg Volca FM via DEXED vst....Is it possible to load a sound coming from the DEXED library into the Roland D-05. I am wondering if the patches used by the DX7 and by the D50 back in the days are the same....do they share the same language?
They both use system exclusive MIDI messages that are Exclusive to the model. In the case of the Volca FM, Morg decided to create a device that understood the DX-7 SyEx. The D-50 and DX-7 do not have compatible SyEx nor compatible synth engine.
Hi I was interested in purchase the Roland D05 but it’s not multi timbre I would like to use it with live 10 senquencer question is can I use it midi multi tracking or do I have to do it audio multitacking
I really wish he had gone over this crucial step. You press Sequence, Write, then the RIGHT ARROW KEY to go thru more options. Finally, you will get to the save confirmation.
Hi,I have a question how do you access the rest of the bank sounds that are not on the front panel. There are 8banks presets with 8 numbers, and that means 64 stock presets, but I know there are many more something like 364 or something, but how do you access the rest of them?
FWIW I prefer the SH-01A sequencer as you can directly load MIDI into it from other gear, much like the Korg Volcas allow. Both the SH-01A and D-05 can be hard to program syncopation in as well as other decorations like slide and gate, so I get faster and more consistent results from using something like the Beatstep Pro. But as stand alone boxes, I feel more liberated by the SH-01A sequencer and sequencing the other Boutiques can be taxing on the creative juices.
They both can work at the same time. You could have the d-05 in split mode with a bass on the lower tone and a electric keys on the upper tone. The step sequencer could be assign just for bass notes and you could activate the ARP and play live on the upper tone .
Anybody know if the sequencer is has key transpose? In other words, the sequencer is playing, you press a key and it transposes the entire sequence accordingly. I know you can kind of accomplish that with an arp, but it's so much easier if the sequencer does it instead.
T. N. Looking for the same thing here, if anybody knows, that’d be awesome, seems some sequencers don’t have key transpose, hope this isn’t the case, makes a huuuge difference

These videos are SO informative!! Thanks😊🎶👍🏻

Very usefull this video. I leared a lot. But i still have one question. Is it possible tyo Transpose a sequense?

Didn't know how to hold up to more than one note. Thanks a lot for this!

Look in the manual to turn off the external sync. Put it in internal sync.
@@Nu-trix Thank you very much. That worked.
You can sequence/plybck in multi tracks?
I swear your channel is so awesome

Great video. One question, how do switch view from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th 16 steps on a longer sequence ?
Jean-Baptiste Lévêque , désolé Jean-Baptiste mais je n’ai plus accès au D-05. Roland me l’avais prêté pour quelques mois seulement.
hi from argentina. How can i save muy sequences???? whem i put "write", the synth don´t allow me to save.
Nylo , dale Function, luego (Func), y cambiale Protect a OFF, acabo de buscar y aprender eso mismo 👍

I don’t have the D-05 anymore. It should work the same as saving a patch memory using the « Write button » but for sequencer.
@@Nu-trix Thanks mate I will take a look. Appreciate the response.

Could I do a song with this via midi? I tried and couldn't figure out how to to another sound while the previous sound still played
right, please more vids about d-05 :)

The Roland D-05 will be able to respond to only two MIDI channel at a single time.
But how many tracks can you record?
how do u save the sequence

Do you like the sh01a or d05 better?
I prefer the Sh-01a sounds and quick sound editing power but I prefer the d-05 sequencer.

How does the arp and seq play together??? Enough voices for that to happen.
TOO much menu diving ... poor UI.

Nu-Trix The Synth Guy Can you show a few of those examples?
Ok. I’ll prepare a little something
