First of all you don‘t use half a lime. Go for a hole one. Cut it in 8 equal pieces and put it in your glass and add a tablespoon of white brasilian cane sugar. It‘s very important to only use this kind of sugar. It almost feels like powdered sugar (go for ”união refinado“, a typical sugar for caipirinha). What he uses looks like normal sugar one is using for baking cakes… it won‘t dissolve perfectly. As soon as you‘ve put your limes and sugar into the glass, muddle it with the flat side of the muddler. You only want to get out the juices… so don‘t overdo it. Add 40ml or 1 1/3oz of cachaca (i like to use ”rêga fulô“ or ”Leblon“), stir it and add ice. Then take a bar spoon. Gently stir the drink with lever movement to distribute the sugar. Enjoy your cocktail.

Perfect. Happy to see Brazil here.
The lime proportion is really something to pay atention and ajust. I do prefer to use simple syrup.
      for me:
3/4 of lime in big slices
      30ml simple syrup
      60ml Good white Cachaça

Im Brazilian and I generally see caipirinha de limão made using 3/4 of a lime, 60mls of cachaça and 1.5-2tb spoon of lime. I also see some people putting some mint. Tbh, your version looks even better than what I'm used to see

@@ilirianzuta6852I don't think a simple syrup is a good idea for caipirinha since we generally use the sugar as an abrasive for the lime

    • 2 whole limes, cut into quarters and with the ends removed. Roll the limes first before cutting.
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 4cl Cachaças,
    • shake with ice, strain, and serve over ice.

@@tomriddle5537yes, but other fruits can also be used in the caipirinha recipe. Of course, if you still use cachaça, it cannot be another distillate. So much so that if you use vodka it will be called "caipvodka", but in this case we only use this variation, without using another distillate like rum for example. But of course the original recipe is the one you use the lemon in the video, but in Brazil we also use other fruits, for example: if you use grapes, it will be a grape caipirinha or a caipiuva (uva is grape in Portuguese), or use strawberries, kiwi, etc. It's very good with passion fruit, especially if you use yellow-skinned passion fruit, which is the passion fruit we have most easily in Brazil. If you want, you can also increase it with syrups and even liqueurs like blue curaçau (search later: "caipirinha com curaçau blue")
