I've got a 2014 GMC Savana 1500. No infotainment center, no blue teeth, no wifi and ... ... no problems ! It has enough brains to run 4 things : ABS, Airbags, fuel injection/emissions control and ...NOTHING ELSE I wonder if there's a correlation ? lol
Then try to find parts after they stop producing an upstart tech vehicle...assuming you have a source of fuel.
Not artificial intel ligence, more like artificial ig nor ance.
Scotty Kilmer, I'm a gas combustion engine kind of guy just like my dad and brothers , They can keep that electric vehicle crap, hahaha. 😇😂😁
What are they going to sue Toyota for? What guarantees did Toyota make regarding fuel price and availability? Probably none.
Yes, the owners should sue themselves for being stupid. That one they could win. =PC=
true, I feel like if I wanted to buy hydrogen car the first question that would pop up in my mind would be where can I charge it..? And if I didn't have anywhere to charge it and still proceeded to buy it ,then that's 100% my own fault
Toyota did nothing wrong at all they where stupid to buy them in general I hope toyota wins this cause they where idiots buying them
But then they would be sent to jail for not being able to pay themselves the money awarded in the lawsuit.
@@sten260 YOU DO NOT CHARGE IT, YOU FILL IT WITH hydrogen gas.
so much for 'oh what a feeling toyota' while your walking or calling a cab....
Record income for Toyota. Increased from 16 billion in 2018 to 32 billion in 2023.
I think Toyota will be ok.
No they are ruined according to Scotty! 🤡
I fact checked you. Toyota income 2023 was18.14 billion. For 2022 it was 36 billion. Looks like a 28.5 percent decline to me.
They are expanding more go figure
Nothing better than a gasoline powered 4-cylinder for reliability and economy.
Except a diesel powered 4-cylinder ( ° ͜ʖ͡°)
As an ev owner and a former diesel car owner i disagree gasoline was expensive to buy and the car was harder to maintain so I switched to diesel then a cheap ev which has almost no maintenance at all.
EVs are junk.
@@Baki-EGW Diesel is indeed seriously underrated.
My grandfather had a Nissan Sentra diesel and it consistently got around 60 mpg on the highway. They key is it didn't have any of the goofy system now on diesels.
Economy is relative. I drove a 4cylinder for 13yrs and then graduated to a Hemi V8. Just as relatable, just as well built, WAY more comfortable and a joy to drive. The advances made on this engine is remarkable. People have been brainwashed in to thinking that small engines are more efficient but don't understand the importance of power to weight ratio. A dinky engine in anything bigger than a little puke car is just beating the hell out of it and it has to work a lot harder.
At least Toyota isn't putting all its eggs in the EV basket.
Exactly.
Yes. Because most people don't want EVs.
Just hybrids. Remember the 2 engine car? Neither do I.😂 Hybrids are half ev.. so they only half suck.
Yup👍
@@Nick41622 Mostly people want reliability and efficiency. They are not against ev, but they are pro good value. Positive value does not include ev's at this time.
Those fools who set and watched the fire on the electric car were probably breathing in all those toxic fumes also.. Smart...
Fund the Saudi!
I mean they weren’t smart to begin with so 🤷♂️
Well, how many skyscrapers and auto manufacturers are there on the African continent?
On the other hand, if you can't find fuel to drive them, they will last forever!
Yo, Scotty. I thought Toyota just leased the hydrogen cars, didn't sell them. Something like a 3-year lease that included hydrogen at a discount and insurance. Main purpose was to collect data on the performance in the real world. Guess that didn't work. California had helped with the cost of building stations around the state, but I guess even that was not enough to keep the Mirai going. The cars look very similar to a Prius.
As a daily motorcycle commuter I found them to be extremely obnoxious. They would dump huge quantities of water from the tailpipe, even on the freeway, and in the summer it could make the road dangerously slick. I'd rather deal with dodging a dozen 65 mph HOV lane Priuses, than see one Murai in the front of me.

😢 Eh What? Decisions have consequences? Say it isn't so.
One problem with hydrogen is that a 100 litre tank pressurized to 700 atmospheres (over 10,000 psi) only holds just over 6kg of hydrogen. And even allowing for the fact that hydrogen has twice as much energy (weight for weight) as gasoline, you won't get far on that.
they can go 300-400 miles per refuel. Similar to gasoline cars
according to sources they have good range with the capacity toyota has. I can share if u want
@@theoutlet9300 That is around the same range as the 2021 civic with it's 12 gallon tank. Seems like Hydrogen isn't that good after all.
It’s also very explosive..

When I was a kid my grandmother took me to Chinatown to buy firecrackers. She would walk up to a guy on the corner and hand him cash, and he hands her a paper bag. Easy peasy. That was in the 1970s and 80s.
Hahaha!
Grandma even called them "fire crackers"eh?

Sad to hear Honda's quality has gone down. They really did use to make some of the best engines in terms of reliability.
Oh yeah. My 2018 Honda accord. Blew a head gasket last year. And I just paid it off !! Unbelievable. !!
@@harveyhankerson8359gross I’m sorry

Modern Honda's are garbage, esp since 2017's introduction of earth dreams 🗑️👎
Absolutely, I've seen many Honda powerplants power tubs of rust down the road, the engines outlasted everything else on the car 😂
Why would a consumer buy a vehicle that didn't have a viable fuel source. Mmm, what to do now?
If an engine lives for 63,000 miles...it was assembled properly. The problem with bearings is lack of lubrication due to the extended oil change intervals every manufacturer is trying to advertise. It's VERY dependent on the proper oil being used as they almost always call for a full synthetic with specific ratings and many/most owners just go to Jiffy Lube now and then for the cheapest oil change they can find when the car annoys them with warnings that they need to get service. Conventional oil DOES break down where synthetics won't....and I'll bet a dozen donuts that the problems Honda is having is due to lack of proper maintenance.
Absolutely. I bet that motor that went out at 63,000 only had the oil changed once or twice
People are notoriously stupid with maintaining their cars!!!
I’m confused, you’re blaming the manufacturer for extended intervals but then blame the owners for lack of maintenance. Which is it?
Actually Hydrogen fuel cells do work and quite well. Cities like Montreal, Winnipeg who get cold winters run fleets of hydrogen buses year round without losing significant performance. The difference for them is because they have the fleet base they can get fuel in bulk and store it at their bases. The issue with hydrogen is I can't find it at my local gas station and even diesel is disappearing. Who would have thought diesel would be an alternative fuel.
I truly admire it when Scoty indicates, the manual transmission can go forever and easily saves on gas, too.
After over forty years of owning manual transmission vehicles, never had a transmission problem, not gearbox or clutch.

When there’s 300+ years of oil & natural gas in existence and 100+ years of infrastructure based on it, any other fuel is going to be a tough sell.
There will probably be way more oil than 300 yrs worth….in the 60’s they told us at best we had 10 more yrs worth….then technology finds more and more and better ways to extract and magically we have 300 more years worth . In 20 years they’ll probably say there’s a unlimited supply…that Mother Nature is a just a oil making machine
We had ALL of this figured out once upon a time. Just think of it. Stunning.
- Ford Motor Company built a few hydrogen cars 20 years ago and deducted the same thing. Yes they pollute less because their by product is water but the size of the fuel tank need for normal driving range is not feasible as well as the cost and impracticalities of refueling infrastructure. Live and learn Toyota . Lol

Funny think about Hydrogen....WE HAVE TONS OF IT... but its not a Fuel cell. Iv seen only 1 Vehicle design, that uses Light weight Containers, and Slide them into the rear of the car.
If they would JUST go for the large Containers, it Should be fine...
Especially trying to work here at a Toyota factory,, a highly byest one no names or locations
In one thing you are wrong: fuel cells are proven technology, being used in buses in European cities since 90's.
I can think of thousands of jobs that AI will never be able to do and as far as Bill Gates goes just ignore the sociopath.
Seems like something the customer should have thought about before they bought it. If I was the judge I would throw that case out immediately
The Murai is an awesome car. Basically it drives like a luxurious EV.
When they came out my first though was that they should be plug-in hybrids: say 100miles on battery and use H2 only rarely: small cheap fuel cells charging the batteries.
Of course then you may ask: why not a small gas engine, then? Oh, that’s a BMW i3 😁 or Volt.
I've been calling for the government to build infrastructure for electric/alternative fuel cars for a decade now, and now here we are, still barely any infrastructure and the continued push for non-gas cars. Like... wtf...
Hi Scotty! Greetings from Sweden! I watch all your videos and I have learned a lot of tricks 😁

What are they actually doing on the Honda rod bearing recall? Engine assembly or rod bearing? In my experience when they are knocking it is too late for just bearings. The crankshaft and rods need machining.
It's too late for Honda....they join Nissan
I like it, Scotty. In the big picture of A.I. it is garbage in/garbage out

I was a senior lead software engineer at Microsoft, shipped Windows for a decade.
BillG was not an engineer, could not code his way out of a wet paper bag.
The one thing he did right after being given a monopoly (thanks to his mother) was to hire the best coders on the planet.
Great video
Thanks Scotty I love your sense of humour 😂
Scotty agreed with consumer reports Now that's rare like the eclipse.😊😂
In Ct in 2000-2009 they had fleets of Chevy cavaliers fueled by hydrogen and fleets bought for electric company and for DCF workers and social workers!
Now in center of the whole state were maybe 3-4 private fill stations for them. So it would take a hour for those on the outer edges of state to drive to center of state to fill up!
After about 5 years these cars were sold to civilians in public auctions! Those who bought them then found out they couldn’t fuel them cuz they weren’t state employees
And it was a private station that would send invoices to get paid! Not individuals or cash or credit cards
So it took awhile and town hall meeting to change the payment methods and allow reg people with these cars to fuel!
Then when they broke down no one knew how to FIX them! And had to ask the city municipal garage who used to do the maintenance on them to do the repairs which then also turned into a battle because they were not a garage for the public. They only worked on vehicles for the city. Unfortunately they did know how to fix those hydrogen ran cars so you had to get somebody to work on it off the clock. I would’ve never thought buying a car with alternative fuel would turn in such a hassle and then you’re stuck with it because who’s gonna buy it if you try to sell it?
Man I just want one of the new Corolla gr’s.
Just like “cold fusion” it was going to revolutionize everything. What happened to it??

How can you sue them it's not there fault they didn't even let you buy one unless there was a hydrogen station in your area
They were talking about building a hydrogen highway 20 years ago. Guess that didnt work out. I think hydrogen is still more possible than ev

Merlin from Merlins old school Garage says he is a IA Intelegent Artifact😃
Gee that means Mr. Bean should sue Toyota for letting him test out one of the GR Yaris with an experimental hydrogen engine with a Japanese pro racing driver. The mental gymnastics is strong with these people.
Can't blame people for suing if at the time of purchase Toyota made promises of fuel availability & that promise didn't hold true. Toyota has the money, they probably should offer the people a decent compensation package.
Toyota makes cars not Hydrogen. If there was a gasoline shortage like in the 1970s can you sue ? And for Scotty, what your home Electrical generator or solar broke can you sue Tesla?
@@danc2014 I get what you're trying to say, but it's not really an apples to apples comparison.
A.I. means artificially ignorant
"You should sue yourself for stupidity" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had a Honda natural gas commuter car. Loved it, but there was a natural gas filling station (for school busses and garbage trucks) on my route. Free bridge toll, got to use commuter lane, propane was 1/2 the price of gasoline. Hydrogen was touted as the way of the future when I was driving on it. I knew hydrogen was going to be a bust and couldn't understand why politicians pushed hydrogen when natural gas was already working.
The world would be a great place if Scotty was in charge.
Out of curiosity I figured I'd ask a mechanic rather than a collector about whether or not a 1970's era European or Asian car is a money pit when compared to an American car of the same era.
No AI could ever replace Scotty, thanks.
You got that right on AI
LoL... you're hilarious.... made my Day 😅😅😅😅😅
I may be criticized for this, I think Hydrogen will be the way things go eventually. Heck of a lot more chance of Hydrogen than EV. I understand Hydrogen is very energy heavy to produce and expensive at the moment.
Scotty you are so funny sometimes 😂😂😂
I wouldn't buy a hydrogen-electric vehicle, have you seen what that stuff costs to make and store?
You lose like 30% of the energy in the process, might as well drive an ICE vehicle at that point.
Hydrogen electric does make sense for trains and cargo ships though. Tractor/trailers too.
I don't know why Toyota tried this, the physical constraints of the technology were obvious.
I don't even think hydrogen makes sense there either. Hydrogen combustion has terrible efficiency meaning you need a tank nearly half the size of the car to give it 150 miles. Meanwhile fuel cells are ludicrously expensive and even then aren't even powerful enough to fully power the car on their own. Imagine how expensive they would be to power something like a train which has power measured in the megawatts.
No I think trains should stick to direct powered lines and trucks will likely stick with diesel. We do also already have a fair few tractors though that are electric, it's just rare for the mega farms. Hydrogen is just extremely flawed with even natural gas looking better.
They push it to show that EV's are not the only option and justify their heavy reliance on hybrids. If EV's finally conquer the market, they will have to jump on it as well, but with all the data and mistakes from other companies, not just their own so it's a win-win situation to wait and see how it goes.
And ICE that runs on hydrogen, is not an EV.
The future can be bright. Hydrogen can be easily and cheaply made using nuclear power power plants.
It will take govt subsidies to make it work.
They do it because it would help Japan become energy independent instead of relying on other countries for energy which causes them to be indebted
Eventually I believe it could evolve to individual home generation with direct to hydrogen solar cells.
Sounds like oil companies are the obstacle standing in the way. Then we have many politicians bought by big oil.
You look so handsome Scotty. I love your glasses and hairstyle
