Jared, Off the topic of this video, but I am in AZ and am considering a Beta 300 2stroke, but am torn between the RR Xpro and the RE. I am a 63 y/o intermediate rider; generally ride a mix of tight, technical to more open flowing(3-4gear), I whooped out trails. I lean towards the RR xpro but am worried the suspension will hold me back on the faster whooped out trails we ride. The RE seems like the safe way to go due to the KYB suspension which I am used to on my current Sherco. What are your thoughts?
@ Sorry for jumping in here. The XPro will be much lighter and nimble, a bit short on the power compared to the RE. The RE will feel the most like you Sherco, KYB setup. The RE is fairly stiff for a pure enduro bike, so the faster woops the RE will eat those up. I bought a 24' 300 RE from Jared last year. Great guy and shop, highly recommend them.
In 2 hours I had the following issues with injection: oil cap one way valve fall into reservoir causing most of oil to spill and had oil everywhere, filter and intake was full of oil. Later, I just took pump plug out to dielectric grease the pins, put it back, didnt hear the clicking sound... checked the clip and was half broken. After all this I figure it out I have more peace of mind with good quality premix oil (better than ones suitable for injection). Brilliant bike tho... Love the feel of it, so smooth, almost 4 stroke feeling.
Mine did the same thing the dealer replaced the hose three times the cap, three times the pump once the diode. Could not get it to stop losing its vacuum, and oil going into the cylinder after sitting a couple of hours. A day or so later the complete line was empty.Cure for that was take the oil injection off.
@3SeasRecreation Beta dealer is buying it back. I'm trading it for a 25' 430 race edition. I bought it in May enough, is enough. What customer do you know would buy a 12000 plus motorcycle and not have it work for 9 months. Have it at the dealer weeks at a time once ten weeks and still can't figure it out. By the time I get my bike, it'll be a year wasted. And also, money wasted also to be a Beta tester for Beta tempted. On not doing this, taking the money and buying something else.
Interesting. Compared to the Austrian bikes that pump and oil hose is much further away from the inlet port on the cylinder and the hose is much longer. I didn't realize that. Maybe on the upside its more accessible. Good catch!
That hole in the pipe probably reduced the pressure increasing the flow rate, I know jack about fluid dynamics though. "According to Bernoulli’s principle, the flow speed of a fluid is inversely proportional to its static pressure. This means that, when the velocity of the fluid increases, its pressure will decrease. The Venturi effect is a version of the Bernoulli’s principle, but more specifically suited to the flow of fluids through a pipe."
Hey great find! These things are bound to happen with the quality control these days! My 18 300rr had 160hrs before i sold it and it was stock OI and i had zero issues i loved that setup! Now im on a 23 480rr debating if i wanna go back to a 2T
That is a ton of hours on your 2018! Congrats. Maybe you should just add a 2-stroke to your line up and keep the 4-stroke! Never hurts to have both :) Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Thank you, great videos on xtrainers as usual, helps me in my pre order that I will do soon, you think it is because the bike sat for a while without riding, because it will be my case ...
Thanks for the great videos I've had two cross trainers the first one I deleted the oil injection the second one I just bought a couple months ago and I'm wondering if I should leave it or delete it what do you think I know you guys say you never have problems with them I'm sure you know thanks again keep up the good work
Well we have been selling Beta since 2011 and have sold MANY XTrainers. I would say 3/4 of them never delete the system and there are still 2015's out there working great! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Curious on your comment of the bulletin on bikes sitting. Is this something I should check when starting the bike after winter storage? 24 Xtrainer. Good catch!
Jared, does it make sense to switch to a silicone oil line? Also do you suggest using a small zip tie on the engine side? Keep these videos coming please! Cheers
Hey Good Morning! This is the first time I have ever experienced the hose failing... so I'm not sure we need to make a big change. Also, I don't really think it was the "hoses fault". It got a split in it from assembly I am assuming. Also, not sure if it would need a zip tie but it would certainly give you some piece of mind! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Perhaps I missed it but did you cover what the actual symptom? Was the bike not running right? Check engine light? or did you just happen to notice the oil in the tube being abnormal? What got you down that rabbit hole?
Good Morning, yep the actual symptom was the fact that the line was empty like the videos JPEG shows. It would suck all of the oil in extremely fast. So when we looked down for the PDI the line was empty. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
380 Motorsports in Texas told me about the bulletin on the line and gave me one to replace the line on my gf's 200. Also, there's no sense in deleting the oil injection when the system works great.
I just can't believe manufacturers rely on a 10 cent hose to keep the engine alive (on the two stroke). The hose on the KTM seems better made than the Beta, but it's still not that great. The oil pumps on both bikes are virtually the exact same, and again, it's hard to believe manufacturers rely on those cheap pumps to keep the engine alive. I'm not bashing at all, just simply stating the facts.
Bingo, they do fail and why wait for that when you can delete and mix your fuel. After mixing two to three times you are used to it and no issues. You can also cary a very small bottle of oil with you for long rides to bring on extra gas and quickly mix it. Good post chadmildram.
Good point BUT Every 2-stroke that we set up regardless if it’s oil injected we premix the first thank. The motor was 100% protected! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Thanks for posting these tech videos. Good find on this oil line issue.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
And this is the reason why I deleted mine before leaving the shop. Thanks Jared
Pretty awesome Beta has that kit available to make it an easy delete! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Agreed. I opted for the RE and LOVED the fact it was deleted. Rather the old school method of being positive the oil is in there.....

Once in how many years? Strange. At least you ran pre-mix initially. And now we all know. Thanks Jared. Best Beta Dealer ever!
Yep, always a tank of premix to help incase of something like this! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Love the Beta
Definitely my next bike
Guessing I will inspect my 2021 after a winter of sitting.
Always a good idea to give the bike a look over after a long period of sitting! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Nice troubleshooting!
Thanks for posting!
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching! Enjoy The Ride, Jared

That is interesting! We have never experienced something like that. Premix it is! Enjoy The Ride, Jared

Thanks for doing this vid.
220hrs on my 2020 xtrainer with OI, np so far
That is some good seat time! Enjoy The Ride, Jared

Yep, allowed it to suck in instead of pushing oil out. Enjoy The Ride, Jared

nice find and fix!
Thanks for watching! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Something to keep an eye on for sure.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Yamaha sure knew how to make a great oil injection system, hell they knew how to make a greatbike period!
I didn't know the current Yamaha 2-strokes were oil injected! I learn something new every day! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Thank you, great videos on xtrainers as usual, helps me in my pre order that I will do soon, you think it is because the bike sat for a while without riding, because it will be my case ...
Good Morning, no this is a brand new bike and the oil line was empty. It was purely from the hose being slit from the factory. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Thanks for the great videos I've had two cross trainers the first one I deleted the oil injection the second one I just bought a couple months ago and I'm wondering if I should leave it or delete it what do you think I know you guys say you never have problems with them I'm sure you know thanks again keep up the good work

You are very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Curious on your comment of the bulletin on bikes sitting. Is this something I should check when starting the bike after winter storage? 24 Xtrainer. Good catch!
The bike would certainly have a gap every week if the hose was faulty. So if it sits all winter having a small gap will be OK. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Great video!
Thank you.
Tom H.
Thanks for watching Tom! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Over tight ziptie?
Did an OI delete to stop my worry prone brain.
Eh there wasn't one in that spot so not sure that was the problem. Enjoy The Ride, Jared

I agree! The system has worked great for us ever since it was introduced on the XTrainer in 2015. Enjoy The Ride, Jared
System works great? Until it doesn't. And when it doesn't, see you later expensive bottom end...just keep that in mind.
I made exactly 2 hours with that i jection crap, have much more trust in premix...and less mess in airbox.
Makes sense now after watching. Carb acted like a vaccum on you and sucked it straight in for sure bro.

Mine failed at 15 hours. Deleted it and never had a problem since
Can never go wrong with pre-mix! Enjoy The Ride, Jared

Id rather be mix n gas and haul n ass than hope for the best!
You sure can! Easy kits available from Beta to make the switch! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
Avoid that sistem, simple!
I would have fixed the problem before running the bike without oil going to the cylinder.
Good point BUT Every 2-stroke that we set up regardless if it’s oil injected we premix the first thank. The motor was 100% protected! Enjoy The Ride, Jared
I’m not getting it don’t care
