Very well done with good information, you put many marine mechanics to shame. Have a 70 HP Yamaha with the same vintage as above and I have learned LOTS.......THANKYOU keep up the good work

I’m just getting a 1996 Yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke rebuilt, its by far my favourite motor that Yamaha has made

Yamaha HPDI has a small electric oil pump for the VST, but is has an oil pump like yours as well, where it sends oil to the intake manifold. I primed each line to the intake manually.

If you can get a piece of tubing to fit onto the bleeder in a vertical position, you can watch the air bubbles in the tubing.

Been following this series. I have a 2006 1720 with an Etec 90. Every 2 or 3 trips I top off the fuel. It’s only a 30 ish gallon tank, but every other trip or so I add some 2 stroke oil to the raw gas. I have never had a fouling issue and it doesn’t smoke at all. Probably about an ounce or less. I have been doing that since 2017 and it runs like a top. Plenty of wide open throttle runs.

Can you please do a video on zerk fittings? I own a 2005 90 TLRD and having some issues with the steering tube zerk fitting.

One thing to check when an outboard has been sitting for a long time is the one way valve on each line after the pump. They like to clog, make sure they are letting oil through, I highly suggest to change them. Ask me how I know 😂

Gotta love a Yammy two stroke.....back when things were half way simple.

I recently rebuilt my 1989 90hp and my oiling system is giving less oil than before (like 75:1). I adjusted the linkage arm to specs and nothing is changing. Should I just take it off?

2003 250 HPDI is it possible and do you recommend eliminating oil system and run premix to eliminate that point of failure on an old engine ?

    Have a 06 90 I just bought.
It has the oiling system deleted unfortunately.
I’d like to have it reinstalled I hate premixing.

That engine doesn’t sound healthy it may be fuel or air but sound weak. I have had many 90 2 strokes

I never trust any 2stroke oil system, best just to pre mix it
