Sarjeant has the gift of using each instrument's characteristic tone quality to enhance the band. He really is THE FAMU sound. Just like Duke Ellington would not be as well known if it weren't for Billy Strayhorn's genius rearranging of Ellington's music. It's always the people in the background that make the biggest difference, like the HORN section :-)
it sounds good (SU fan here) I like SU's better just because I like how they put the power behind it but this version is reallll nice too I love both bands.
@@dperfect28 not taking away from this. It's great. But you need to listen at southern at the atl 05 botb. You clearly hear all parts. Plus woodwinds. Mr. Knighten arrangement of the song is on point as all of his songs. And when he came to the meac as an assistant. Guess what band toke over that yr. An won honda. People amaze me. And he swac and su all day
Sometimes I read these comments and can’t comprehend anyone with the slightest musical background blurting that foolishness. Brilliant musicality speaks for itself and excludes the emotional rhetoric that competitors spew out. This piece is brilliant. The End!
Cerl84 You can google the word musicality for a formal definition and figure the rest out yourself. It’s spelled M-U-S-I-C-A-L-I-T-Y. Hopefully this is helpful to you. #100
I did. That is when i realized you were using the word incorrectly, and probably didn't know what it meant yourself. Read the entire definition this time. I was only trying to understand better being that I saw only praise for the mighty "100". Where are all these "competitors" spewing "emotional rhetoric"? calm down dude.
No they didn’t! FAMU would have score all 10s down the board for dynamics, balance, clarity, precision, and pitch! Two different styles. Wish everyone would stop ridding the SU band wagon!
SU all day famu and bcc better not come too the SWAC with that concert sound SU and JSU going too blow them out they better get it together with concert Ass band✌✌
Without looking at the sheet music, I can always tell when a Sarjeant pulled a pen out to write. Both brothers influenced my love for the MEAC.
This is called balance kids in 2022💯
No other university comes close to this sound! Love it!!!

😂😂😂 Real Comedian or tragic hearing loss?
@@DBerry757 I did laugh when I read his comment, and really LOL when I heard SU's version.
Nah, FAMU got them on this, I follow Southern and like their version but this is beautiful.
SU all day famu and bcc better not come too the SWAC with that concert sound SU and JSU going too blow them out they better get it together with concert Ass band✌✌
