Such a surreal moment.... Solomons reed character has so much depth. He really wanted the best for so mi but his tunnel vision is what setenced her to hell essentially
I only feel pity for him in this ending. Both him and V know that if we give him Songbird, Myers will continue using her and we will give Songbird a life worse than death. A life she is trying to escape from. Knowing this, Reed still insists because he is no more than a "loyal" tool to his corrupted country. He can't see that sometimes doctors can't cure some things. Sure they can "cure" Songbird but can we really call that a cure? Live only to get used by someone you can't escape over and over and over again. Is this life? In my opinion, like Johnny says the next morning if you side with songbird, we actually doing a good thing killing him. He is too blinded to see the obvious facts and he will get used by Myers in the name of "service" to country just like Songbird and Alex. Empty fucking promises.
Reed was his own worst enemy in the end. Myers may have given the orders, but Reed decided to follow them to the letter. Without question, without insubordination, without heistation. And here he is sitting in a barren desert, his bosses happy, his friends dead, and the closest thing he had to a daughter gone.
Just like what Johnny said. Johnny would be like reed if he never left the military. Reed wanted good but was to stubborn and he slightly realizes that on one of the endings too
Songbird also followed Myers' orders when she almost killed Reed 7 years ago and in this ending she killed Alex, so why do you think Reed is somehow the bad one.
@@mrlucky9157At least she realized that Meyrs will kill her one day and Hansen is the one who killed Alex. She felt betrayed. What the hell you expected? Reed wanted to give her up to Meyrs from the start and he was lying to V about his plans so no wonder So Mi did what she did. Reed had a choice but she never used that power.
@@starlaixystar Well, Reed is now working in the office (if you didn't kill him), so I guess it's batter than being on the streets. It's very rich of you to blame Hansen who was just defending himself for the death of Alex. Songbird decided her fate. She either wanted to have one less obsitacle on her escape or to align briefly with Hansen to stop you from capturing her. Don't try to blame the blackwall because she reached for it after she had killed Alex. "She felt betrayed" when she was betraying everybody around her xD She betrayed Myers, Hansen, Reed, V and killed Alex, so yeah. I'm not saying Reed is better than Songbird, just everyone is at fault, unlike you claim.
The first thing coming to mind seeing that scene is V burning her hands on the sand and crying out. I don't know why, but I thought that was such a cool thing to add.
Reed isnt a bad guy. He was a good man working for some very bad people. He did what he thought was the right thing in the situations he was in. I genuinely believe he truly cared about So Mi. What a fantastically human character.
I know some people think Reeds Is a bad guy but honestly he’s a good guy, he’ll do anything for So mi even though he was betrayed by her he never had vengeance or hatred towards her, he does anything he can to help Vincent, and Alex the only thing he’s forced to face is himself and working for NUSA and all of the issues Myers caused
he’s a good guy with good ideals and principles but he’s working under an evil power base that could give less of a fuck about him, that’s why I feel like freeing So Mi and killing Reed (essentially releasing him from the grip of the NUSA) is the best ending, I feel like you’re putting him out of his misery, but in a good way, he was doomed by his principles and morals from the start
He might not be completely evil like Meyrs but he is not good person either. He is a coward who will never say no to the psychopath who used him. Destroyed So Mi and because of his stupid plan Alex is dead in his path so I don't really have empathy to him. He blames V for everything if we kill So Mi so I can't like him. He is a scumbag.
@@starlaixystar I think that’s what makes him such a well written character, there’s so many ways that can make him seem like he’s either good or bad, or both, he’s trying to redeem himself for what he did in his past but he’s also willing to get his hands dirty again for the sake of the NUSA, his ideals, and what he feels is right
I agree with you. I don't think Reed is as evil as Myers but he is no saint either. When we go to the Farida's clinic and talk to Reed there, He tells V that he will take Songbird to a safe place and ask some questions, establishing a common ground. He then proceeds to tell V that after he does that he will take Songbird away from everyone else including Myers. It was at this moment that I fully realized Reed was full of shit. His intentions might be good but he is too blinded to see some things. He doesn't understand or does not WANT to understand that Myers will never give up looking for her. When he is forced to choose between the person he sees almost as a daughter and his ideals, he does not hesitate to choose the latter. This is why I will never help him. Like Johnny said sooner or later we have to betray someone or something(his ideals). Reed will always be a snake that bites it's own tail until the end of his days unless we kill him. This is really so sad. Not only this, he also tries to convince V to agree to this stupid plan by saying things that V wants to hear. It's clear as day that he hides something. This is also why when Songbird reveals that the cure is only for one, I will always choose to send her to moon (I am also pissed at her for lying to us but I understand she had no choice but to resort to some means.) despite her lie. It's not about survival at this point. It's about protecting a tool, a weapon from it's abuser.
Actually this guy is good written version of Max Caulfield from Life is Strange. His words are sweet but his true persona is nothing more than a traitor scumbag who will betray everyone for Meyrs. Alex. So Mi. V. He will betray them all for Meyrs and he will be betraying people over and over. His character shows how toxic blind loyalty to the country is and how much it turns you into a monster. This is what Life is Strange was never able to do with Max because she was main character and Square Enix tried to force us to think that she is a good person. In this case no one wants force us to think that Reed is a good person. He is on bad side and he always will be because he is too far gone.
@@TheCakeIsNotLie Maybe because you are a toxic Life is Strange fan who hates Chloe. Max treats Chloe like crap. Ignores her feelings. She is a coward who can't understand that she hurts Chloe. I don't think you truly understand his character. His a fool and a slave to his ideals. At the very end he starts to realise his mistakes, but it's already to late. The very last convo at the basketball court, reed blames V for everything, but he admits that he was right. He starts to see his mistakes and the better choices he could've made. He agrees that V killing So Mi was the better choice, one which he would've never been able to make. He only realises this, after he lost everything or rather because he lost everything. This is exactly the same outcome for V, if they chose to be cured by FIA. Lost everything, but gets the second chance because of it, sees the truth because of it. Can be better, because of it.

I'm sorry but no. If he wanted what the best for her then he would never give her up to Meyrs.
