Chen Long's mental is very strong, and he played with rhythm. Lin acknowledged that and played tactically wise, thus he succeeded in breaking both Chen's mental and rhythm, can be seen from his errors during 2nd game ending and his expression in the last points of the match. That's what separates Lin from other good or great athletes, knowing how to destroy a player's tactics.
@@nathanyein well said. What you means is his pace injection ability, which includes in his tactics, creating a flow for a rally then blow the opponent away. That is why I said Lin break Chen's rhythm since Lin injects the rally's pace before it's Chen's time to go for a winner. About Lin being off-foot, it is because of Chen's tactical shots is hard to predict(that is why Chen can go for a kill). The rhythm I mentioned here is also the game's flow, which is when a player(Chen in this case) get the advantage, they will try to play as secure as possible, creating little chance for their opponent to turn the situation and make a comeback. Therefore to break this rhythm means to break the consistent advantage of the opponent. If you watch the full match you'll see, from the second game til the end, Chen weren't able to win a streak longer than 5. Anyway, thanks a lot for your view.
In 2014, lin dan could still beat Chen Long and Lee Chongwei(the top2 player of 2014 world championship). I believe lin dan could win one more WC if he have a wild card!!!!

Such a fantastic match with minimal unforced errors. Watch this match and then watch the 2023;world championship final. You will realize what is missing nowadays. lin dan, chen long, LCW, hidayat, peter grade these legends at the same time played amazing games. 2023 world championship singles final was a joke. It was just a game of stamina and nothing else. Winner had to say sorry to the audience at the end. Hope players like Victor & LZJ will bring us some more exciting games like this.
my favorite player and i think the best technique was Hidayat, but for sure out of those 5 probably best of all time lin dan is the GOAT, the complete package. especially on the mental aspect he is by far the best, tho his touch is also unmatched.

Chen Long's net game is so good, always forcing the lift. But Lin Dan's clears are so precise it just means Chen Long has to cover more court.
