  • Physical and Chemical Properties of Matter. Mr. Causey discusses physical properties and changes as well as chemical properties and changes. Physical changes result in NO NEW substances and chemical changes result in NEW substances (products) because of a chemical reaction. Tearing a piece of paper is a physical change but burning a piece of paper is a chemical change.

    How is taste a chemical property? When I taste sugar or salt, does it change into a different chemical? It seems to me that taste is at best a physical change like dissolving. The molecule or ion triggers a receptor, but the substance you are tasting doesn't chemically change or react, does it?

    • @mrcausey
      @mrcausey  Год назад

      I'm not refrring to taste in general (the process of tasting) but to something souring due to the creation of an acid. Thanks for the comment.

    Hi Mr. Causey, I'm just wondering if you put electricity to something which doesn't move is it a Physical or Chemical Change?

    • @darrellcauseyjr.8595
      @darrellcauseyjr.8595 10 лет назад +3

      If you are referring to something like electricity through a wire that is a physical change because no new substance being created. However there are electrons passing through the metal wire.

    • @mrcausey

      A true explosion is the result of a chemical reaction. Chemical reactions create new substances, thus they are a chemical change.
