Physical changes result in NO NEW substances and chemical changes result in NEW substances (products) because of a chemical reaction. Tearing a piece of paper is a physical change but burning a piece of paper is a chemical change.

How is taste a chemical property? When I taste sugar or salt, does it change into a different chemical? It seems to me that taste is at best a physical change like dissolving. The molecule or ion triggers a receptor, but the substance you are tasting doesn't chemically change or react, does it?
