As a South African. For a team that hasn't played rugby for months vs a team that did. I think the world champs did really well. There's always room for improvement. The Boks will only get stronger the more they play from here on out. To win a lions serious is huge guys. Huge. If I can recall the last time the lion's toured New Zealand, they came away with a draw 1-1. So for me to haven't had played rugby for months to winning the lion's series is massive.
Remember the Lions while they may be the best of their respective countries they still have to gel in a very short space of time. Evening things up considerably. That aside, well done Rugbypass, within 48 hours you've managed to get back to writing about the AB's 😑
@@andrewrobb1175 They still played a lot more rugby in the weeks together as a squad than the Boks did in an entire 18 months. Not to mention, Gatland does carry over consistency from previous tours, Farrell, Jones, Itoje, Hogg and others have all toured together so they aren't exactly strangers
Yeah they did , Nz has been a little off by their standards since the retirements of the 2015 wc , I’m a kiwi but I think it’s fair to say boks start favourites , but in saying that , I think the abs with their attacking game is the one team that is capable of opening them up .
As a Bok supporter, the ABs the only team i can accept losing too. So my call to supporters of both teams, dont us argue and fight. Let us diagree but with much Respect.
@@glenmax5806 you would probably have been right about the disadvantage factor, though I could not imagine the Boks putting in two subpar performances in a row against the ABs. The Boks are very quick to adapt and learn from their losses. However, after the total incompetence of the NZRU and their failure to plan for covid eventualities yet again, and now that the two games will be played in covid-ravaged Oz instead - it is impossible to imagine the NZ government shifting on their border policy - the matches will now start all square. Let's just hope Perth gets at least one of the tests. The crowd will be evenly split as far as supporters go, and that crowd should be great in number, which will make for a better spectacle. How NZ, with no community covid cases at all for six months, managed to lose hosting rights in the event of covid disruption, simply beggars belief. It takes a special kind of incompetence to let that happen.
As much as it pains me to say it, NZ will always be favourites heading into tests against the Boks but every AB fan also knows there's always a chance that SA walk away victorious too. No amount of analysis of past games can every really predict what will happen when these two meet. SA vs NZ tests are the golden standard in rugby.

@@jsmwh I hope the Boks stick to their game and don't fall into the trap of public pressure to play pretty pony rugby. @@ruanniemann2604 I don't know, but try this from wordcheck: New Zealand saw advantage in having a fourth player in the three-quarters placing a forward between the half back and the three-quarters. Legend has it that the position was named by deciding that the half back was 4/8ths and the three-quarters 6/8ths, so therefore the new position must be a 5/8ths. When fly half play developed they introduced the first 5/8th and the second 5/8th. Hence the fly half is sometimes referred to as the 1st 5/8, implying a slightly deeper position than halfback and the inside centre is sometimes referred to as the 2nd 5/8 implying a more forward position than a 3/4 back.

boks can win if siya keeps to his guns like in the 3rd lions test ... ref's were always dissing siya which was not race related of course, but because siya was too respectful to the point that refs take advantage by giving rubbish excuses for bad calls ... i loved that siya called out the ref to keep the same energy during calls and not being inconsistent and alum wyn jones couldnt do his 'senior' tricks although he did manage to coax refs to kick out the medic team which was nuts because there was an injury .... siya must be confrontational with refs a little bit
With the short amount of time for prep the BOKS had, all they could do was implement the same strategy that won the WC. With more prep they will surprise some teams with more than just defence.
@@hankgoldenshaft It wouldn't be wise to adopt a different strategy for the Boks. We know our forwards are superior and we have a great defensive game. That is how the Boks will win. Rassie wants to win, not just compete. Boks have been scoring a lot tries against you guys lately.
Historic battles ahead between the two old enemies! It's starting to feel like the old days where every series between the All Blacks and the Springboks was a clash of the titans!! Roll on!!
We won the Rugby Championship heading into the World Cup. Won that too. Won against the British & Irish Lions. After all that we still rate the All Blacks as the benchmark team and that tells u alot about the respect we have for them so we arr looking forward to playing them again and see where we really stand
So much salt in the comments section sheesh! I'm a Saffa born Kiwi and in all honesty it's anyone's game really. Both teams are stacked and breed the best rugby talent compared to the rest of the world. Best team will win on the day! 🇿🇦🇳🇿
We have a LOT OF WORK still, before we meet against the Pumas, Wallabies and All Blacks, I kid you not. Our performance was average against the B&IL. Luckily we've shed some rust, but we are not ready to go against the different caliber in the Rugby Championship.
I can appreciate the panels opinions however we have to remember several things 1. The boks were not at full strength last weekend. Yes injuries are a part of the game but in the Covid era its even worse 2. This team has only really had about 3-4 games of real rugby against high level professionals in over 18 months. Foster has had a lot more on field match fitness and squad work. It cannot be underestimated what the speed of international rugby does to the mind of a professional and when you starve them of it. This South Africa team has be good and disciplined but has also spent the past 3 weeks shaking off rust. Some players shone while others adapted to the game, a great example is the difference in Kolisi's performance from game 1 to 2. You cannot replace the international match fitness with anything other than international matches. 3. The best thing about the AB vs Bok games this year is that the boks have 2 more games against the Pumas before we come across to Australasia. This will give Rassie and the squad more time to work out the kinks and take on a side that runs the ball very well. 4. The Bok pack is getting beefed up again with the return of some of their best forwards The game these 2 nations play this year will be amazing and thankfully there will be no excuses of match fitness and readiness from our side. We will be in the right frame of mind as will the ABs and I cannot wait for yet another classic. The funny thing about Kiwis saying we play boring rugby is that it sets up the best rugby games when these two titans lock horns!
Seriously, I prefer this. Bokke always do best as underdogs. Being bashed by opposition media, an even better motivator. So actualy, they can amp it up a bit....

@Crusader #Raider you talk so proudly of the All Blacks after the Bokke took the Rugby Championship, World Cup and Lions series. Don’t be so sure of yourself. Go believe your own shit talk somewhere else. Show some respect to the World Rugby Champions.
@Crusader #Raider Actually there is only a small chance the two games will be held in NZ because of the quarantine laws. It's looking like all the RC games apart from this weekend will be played in Australia.
@Crusader #Raider It's how it's looking, these are the facts. Do you honestly think NZ will lift the travel bubble ban with Australia after 8 weeks with the cases in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane escalating daily? If there's no travel bubble, then both NZ and SA won't be able to travel back to NZ for the games as they would have to quarantine for 2 weeks. Btw, I'm British and am supporting NZ against SA you silly child.
I don't imagine a similar performance from the AB's on Saturday. They rarely follow one bad game with another. I do feel the AB's intensity was a bit light, not sure if that's down to the players or the lack of inspiration from the coach......... But props to the Wallies, they really kept at it, didn't lose heart and scored good tries!.........They really should've taken the 3pointers when they were on offer! I know it was windy, but a good International kicker shouldn't have an issue with those shots!
Really not sure who would win. It would be a tough one. I think the Springboks can be very confident going into this championship because the Lions series was tough and tested them tactically, physically and mentally, and they managed to win. The strategy the Springboks have at the moment (kicking game and second half putting in the running game) only started in the knock-out stages of the World Cup against Japan, Wales and England and they used that strategy ever since and it worked all the time. So the last time the All blacks played the Boks, the Boks didn’t have this spesific game plan and they didn’t have the confidence and experience they have now, because they won the World Cup and the Lions series since they last played the All blacks. And the All blacks have never really played the Boks in this strategy so we’ll see how they handle the Springbok’s new strong game plan.

We were not at our best for various reasons and hte last time we met in the pool game in the RWC, we've lost against them. And I don't think we have significantly improved since then due to various reasons or that the ABs significantly got weaker in order for us to be able to have a better chance at beating them. Maybe in SA we could win, it's 50/50, but doubt we could in NZ, time will tell.
The boks beat the lions because they were inferior .The lions or the north do not have the power for dual against southern hemisphere ! But now the All blacks !!!!! Totally different ... AB to beat boks
As a South African, I would like Johan Goosen and Curwin Boss getting into the Boks setup. At the moment Elton and Frans Steyn, have to show massive improvement the next 2 games in order for The Boks to have depth beyond 2023. As these guys are on form Goosen playing good rugby in France along with Pollard and Serfontein. His back in South Africa playing well for the Bulls even shattered the Boks A team vs Bulls and can play multiple positions like Steyn. Boss on the other hand great attacking player could cover fullback and flay half. Boks scrambling defense will make up for his lack of defense, but it can be worked on. But for these guys to learn the Bok setup would be vital. No Beef with Frans and Elton great players, but currently not on form, and with one eye on 2023 and beyond, Rassie en Jaques should choose players on form and which will gain enough experience going forward after 2023.

I agree. Winning that series was huge for you guys. I don't think most neutrals really quite grasp the magnitude of the achievement. It was a dire watch, to be fair. But you have to find a way to win, and the Boks had no rugby last year to develop a diverse game plan. Plus they had covid in the camp, and that didn't help either. James Parsons and Bryn Hall analyzed the series well here. The things most of us miss because we're moaning about the dire spectacle, these guys pick up on and offer insight into how to play winning rugby when the going is intense. It was great to see a snarling Eben Etzebeth in the second test. The Boks needed to find their mojo and in that test they delivered. These matches were somewhat similar to semifinal world cup rugby. You have to find a way to win and it doesn't matter how you do it. Just do it! Having said all that, go the ABs! Can't wait to lock horns again with our greatest rival.
Heh. Being down about the style of rugby in a Lions tour. As if NZ v Lions was all glitzNglam. Lions tours are always brutal grinds. Not touchies, luv.
I would favour SA. The Lions did not challenge them in attack, apart from Russell, but the tour has provided better physical preparation than the ABs wil have had. SA know their best team, I don't think the ABs are quite so sure
I disagree with your comment on preparation. The ABs will be playing the Argentinians twice before they play the Boks and the Argentinian team is a very physical team. Playing Argentina is almost the perfect preparation for facing the Boks. As for the Boks knowing their best team and the ABs not, have to agree with you there. Foster needs to settle on his top team and give them a few games together.
I’d say SA challenged the lions even less. in that third test, if you take away kolbes try which was a 50/50 in the air which spilled to la roux who put kolbe away for a class finish from long range, I don’t recall the SAs being in the lions 22 more than once whereas the lions had at least 2 prolonged periods of possession in the SA 22. I do agree with you that I’d pick SA to beat the all blacks because I don’t think the all blacks playing games against Aus, Fiji and Tonga plus trans Tasman at all replicates what most test rugby matches are going to be like. SA set up mostly to nullify their opposition rather than do their own thing, and they’re damn good at it - even thought it’s depressing to watch

Don't read too much into this so called expert opinions. It's just opinions after all, it's always easier said than done when it comes to playing and fronting up against the Springboks. I think perspective is important, this aren't the All blacks of a couple of years ago. Different personnel for the All blacks. Besides the locks, cody taylor and Aaron smith and Maybe anton leinart brown. It is not quite clear who the first choices are. The Springboks play percentage rugby and plays it better than most. That proves why not too much should be read from the so called experts, just opinions after all. By the time they play the All blacks, they would have atleast played 4 matches between Argentina and Australia. It would be enough preparation, the more they play the better they become. This Springboks side is a hard team to beat or win against. They don't get credit because people don't like their suffocation game plan. Nothing better than ABs vs Boks, no other team (except World 15) have come close to the Boks win rate against the ABs. Still I think if the Boks employ so many box and other kicks the ABs will slice and dice em.
As a South African - The springboks have won the World Cup and British and Irish Lions I believe New Zealand will beat the springboks. Historically, New Zealand have beaten the springboks more times than the springboks have beat New Zealand. Given that I still think spingboks still have a chance to win but not a favourable one.
It’s funny how the All Blacks always showed the Bokke so much respect but it seems like they showing us less respect of late and in my opinion that is only because they don’t just realise that we are their closest competitor anymore but that we are better then them at this point in time, the respect has turned to bitterness. What’s the point in condemning the world champs?
As an AB's supporter I believe the Bok's will go into the series as favourites over NZ and Australia after a tough series against the B+I Lions plus two wins over the Puma's...the Bok's can lose one game and still win the championship where as the AB's and the Wallabies have to win every game...anyway goodluck to all teams let's hope there are no send offs it would ruin the game the refs must make sure there was no other alternative
I’m not sure this current NZ pack has the nous to stop the boks. I’m not sure the officials have enough balls to to make the boks play at anything approaching a normal pace. NZ need to improve large facets of their game and need to treat test matches more like a test match as opposed to playing a similar strategy as a super rugby side
As a South African even if we beat the all blacks and win the championship. NZ is still the best. We need to show consistency in order to confidently say we are better than them. Do i think we can beat them. Yes I do, but NZ are still the kings of rugby. And out of ten matches i think NZ beat us 6 or 7 games
As an sa fan l believe we are the greatest of all time because if we were allowed to play the word cup since 1987 we sure would have add another trophy
say what you want ,and i repect the all blacks greatly cant wait for the matches coming, but to the all black fans that want to be cockey, we won the rugby world cup against an english team that dominated the all blacks(and yes they did), and we won a lions tour that the all blacks only tied, and this was with little playtime,
As a South African.
Totally agree
Yeah they did , Nz has been a little off by their standards since the retirements of the 2015 wc , I’m a kiwi but I think it’s fair to say boks start favourites , but in saying that , I think the abs with their attacking game is the one team that is capable of opening them up .

Beating NZ in NZ is as tough as it gets. Boks would need a lot of players to be at their best but I feel this All Blacks side is definitely beatable.
ABs don't have the front row to compete with the Boks, nor do they have a world-cup winning quality first-five.
@@Patrick8804 the stats are about the same for both 1st fives.
@@Patrick8804 do you have any idea why there are two names for the 10? I don't quite understand where first-5 comes from?

Stop fixating on the refs, score 4 tries, the ref is out of the game, depend on errors or penalties lose half the time. Not rocket science
With the short amount of time for prep the BOKS had, all they could do was implement the same strategy that won the WC. With more prep they will surprise some teams with more than just defence.

I'll never rushed home if the all blacks were playing any team in the world. But for the springboks......fucked the speed cameras.
We have a LOT OF WORK still, before we meet against the Pumas, Wallabies and All Blacks, I kid you not. Our performance was average against the B&IL. Luckily we've shed some rust, but we are not ready to go against the different caliber in the Rugby Championship.

@@moegamadadams1156 You'll find a lot of us are extremely critical of the Boks constantly. There were like a gazillion problems during this test.
NZ forwards are looking a bit soft atm. SA will definitely have the advantage there
I can appreciate the panels opinions however we have to remember several things
1. The boks were not at full strength last weekend. Yes injuries are a part of the game but in the Covid era its even worse
4. The Bok pack is getting beefed up again with the return of some of their best forwards
The game these 2 nations play this year will be amazing and thankfully there will be no excuses of match fitness and readiness from our side. We will be in the right frame of mind as will the ABs and I cannot wait for yet another classic. The funny thing about Kiwis saying we play boring rugby is that it sets up the best rugby games when these two titans lock horns!

@@minkybandie Yeah, it's hard enough to punt a Rugby ball from hand, never mind from the ground! Add in 30,000 fans and a windy stadium............
I didn't see anything in that series that would worry the ABs the whole series was just a yawn

The Boks have always been the big one for us. I'm pretty sure you guys feel the same way about us. I have a feeling honours will be shared this year. @@nicholasvanlierde2546 yes its been a brutal series but the guys are fit and tough as nails . I would not be concerned about NZ right now , we need to concerntrate in Argentina and maybe try rest a few key players . So we have a full strength side when we do go over to NZ . For now though we need to take care of the pumas and they are no push over either
The last time the Boks beat the Lions we went on to beat the ABs home and away. I'm not bragging I have huge amounts of respect for the ABs but beating the lions is a big deal! I'm so happy for the Boks and expecting more huge things from these players. Go Bokke!
@@stephenconeglan1173 I'm really looking forward to our boys taking on the mighty All blacks! It will be an epic battle who ever comes on top.
Heh. Being down about the style of rugby in a Lions tour. As if NZ v Lions was all glitzNglam. Lions tours are always brutal grinds. Not touchies, luv.
Unless you're completely dominant - like NZ were in 2005.
How can you measure who is more physically prepared?
the only evidence we can go off is there recent head to heads
@@AK-wc9rl Good point! I hadn't studied the order of the games. You're right, Argentina will be good preparation. Not knowing your best team is a kind of first world problem, as ABs could feasibly put out three decent teams.
@@ThistleThings Agree with all of that Huw, but across the 3 games, SA just about had the edge. SA play a defensive game, which is really hard to avoid either suffocating, or playing with desperation. They were never going to change their game plan, I just feel that for the Lions to win, we had more chance if we challenged the line and varied the attack.

-Jean Girard
Spring Boks are definitely favorites I'm a Kiwi The ALL BLACK'S haven't hit there straps as yet I can see Us getting close during the Rugby Championship's very exciting test matches love it✌️😎
They are pretty evenly matched at the moment and with Australia and Argentina both playing better rugby at the moment I think this championship is going to be one for the ages, can't wait!
The Lions showed in the 3rd test that if you run at the BOKS you can have them in trouble. The Lions handling and attacking options let them down, I don't think the ABS will be so generous. I take the ABS to get their act together and perform a championship grand slam.
In a nutshell, they know how to win. If I'm not mistaken, they still remain the only side to have beaten and drawn against the All blacks in New Zealand over the past 5 or so years. They will atleast win one of the two matches against the All blacks in New Zealand. After all it's, it's just an "opinion". We will not know until they have played against each other.
@@anthonymokootherock1362 If the ABS play to their best and the Boks play to their best, I take the ABS to win. I hope so for the sake of rugby Its sad to think that the best team on the planet is as boring as shit to watch but hey, thats only my opinion of course😊
@@peteryoungpeteryoung965 This is the reason why I said above we will not know up until they have played each other. I don't know if the Springboks ever play their best because they hardly ever have more possession against their opponents, I would really like to see them at their best. I really don't know so we will have to wait for the first test match in Auckland and see how they fair.
The Boks controlled the way the game was played. You got to give them credit. Record books are written.
Much respect to the mighty boks but the nod goes to NZ,Lions were a good series but the Calibre of Australian rugby has enhanced under Dave Rennies regime, and the proof was in the pudding! I think the Boks fancy their chances of bludgeoning the ABs to death and I think they'd be correct.
Yeah, I NZ would struggle with the Boks and how they play at the moment

Quiz .....which two nations scored the most tries in the 2019 rugby championships ?
1) wallabies 2) Boks
And if I am not mistaken the Boks scored more tries in both the rugby championship 2019 and rugby World Cup 2019 than the wallabies and all blacks!
Likely SA. The ABs didn’t look so dominant once the Wallabies got Hodge and Toomua on. SA wouldn’t be caught making odd selections that open the door and Pollard wouldn’t whiff all his penalty kicks like Lolesio.
We haven't played rugby for 20 months, had a covid outbreakbefore the first test and still came from 1 nil down to win the series which a full strength world cup winning ab team couldn't do 4 years ago.

All blacks will win… as a welsh fan what I love about the all blacks is whoever they play they always beat the opposition by playing attacking fast expansive entertaining rugby .. their basic skill set like accuracy passing a ball, awareness of players around them and support play is consistently top drawer… once the all blacks get in behind 1st up defence it’s usually try time because of their skill set
Home ground advantage plays a crucial role in outcome...so ABs are at an advantage when Boks n ABs meet next time.

As a Kiwi in Aus, i would say the Bok backline is an edge better than NZ right now.
DDA, Am, Kolbe, Mapimpi definitely so.
The match-up up front is very close for AB vs Boks. I am predicting 1 win each in the RC. NZ will sweep the Wallerbies. SO NZ win the TRC imho as the Boks will drop one match vs Aus. Pumas will beat the Aussies once.
The first AB v Boks test is the 100th, 56 v 36 head to head with four draws, FYI. Bring it on, win or lose, ABs vs Boks is the best fixture of the year, who needs Twickenham LULZ.
Opinions will be for SA to win, and swing, to NZ to win.
I personally think NZ, All Black's will come out on top.
Springboks play are very predictable, and running the ball, keeping it in play, has not been SA team tactics. The ball is kicked away to often. Lose the ball, lose the momentum.
BUT, I will always support them.
South Africans respect and honour the All Blacks. Please don't be drawn to the bitterness of the Northern guys. We have our own culture here down South.
The ALL Blacks are a beatable team, very exited to see AB against Boks, my vote go to the Bokke
Cannot wait for a proper game between these great rugby playing nations. Finally Rassie can relax a little about creating videos and focus on the game again. Wow, the Lions subtle pressure on the ref after the first test backfired. South Africans are not subtle.
Stephen Donald and Morne Steyn club !
New Zealand start as favorites without doubt. However, it will be no walkover for them. SA will fight every inch of the way and could possible beat them, which is something I can't say for any other side in world rugby at the moment.
Excellent content

NZ can't bounce back when behind. They're not used to having to do that. So if SA can win the first test they'll have the series

... eh.. ABs are exactly the team that can come back from being behind.
Oh really is that why we lost to aus then thrashed them in Eden Park also lost to pumas then we made a record score against them in the next
Aussies should of won that match against NZ. Next weekend should be awesome! Well Done to SA for beating the Lions again 12 years later. The last time NZ played against the B&R Lions it was a draw. defence, the real strength of the boks, they will batter the living day lights out of the ABs... I'm on the fence.
Their boring style hardly ever works against NZ
Looking forward to some great matches against the old enemy. We are going to have to be disciplined and accurate!
It's debatable if you are better than them. Your head to heads over the last few years is heavily in their favour.
With four away games chances are slim to none the Springboks will win the rugby championship.
yes for this reason alone its advantage NZ
As an AB's supporter I believe the Bok's will go into the series as favourites over NZ and Australia after a tough series against the B+I Lions plus two wins over the Puma's...the Bok's can lose one game and still win the championship where as the AB's and the Wallabies have to win every game...anyway goodluck to all teams let's hope there are no send offs it would ruin the game the refs must make sure there was no other alternative
28:20 when they start chatting about who would win...
Rugby union is so much better when springboks are in form 🇿🇲
New Zealand are perfectly suited to beating SA. Can’t wait as it should be epic!
As an sa fan l believe we are the greatest of all time because if we were allowed to play the word cup since 1987 we sure would have add another trophy
so,which WC would you have won? You most certainly wouldn't have beaten the 1987 NZ side - so that leaves 1991.possibly.
Definitely 1987 with our players that time in guys like Danie Gerber and Naas Botha to name a few
