    I never understood how Corey, one of the last members to join the band, ended up being legally and financially in charge of SK with Clown. Besides Chris, Corey was the last to join. Far far from a "founding" member.

    I don't think they'll lose the case. But ever since Chris' departure, the band has constantly been losing a big part of their fanbase's trust. If Chris going away was hard, just imagine how disappointing this situation is for us. Not saying the other members aren't or weren't important, but Joey was something else. Disrespecting his legacy and memory is something they will hardly come back from.

      This is very true, they only seem to really care about money nowadays.

    I used to love Slipknot back in high school. I was listening to their 3rd album on the bus every morning, I knew all the members names and the lyrics to their songs, etc. When I found out a few years later that Joey was no longer in the band, I thought "Oh... well then it's not really Slipknot anymore." Joey was member #1 for a reason - not only was he a founding member, but the rest of the band agreed that his drumming was the foundation of their music. To this day, I don't really understand how the rest of Slipknot was able to justify kicking him out. Call me naive or idealistic, but I just don't think they had any right to dismiss him from the group he was so integral to creating. I hope his family gets some sort of justice from this, even if it's just monetary.

Heart heartbreaking that a metal band would be so dishonest, especially when usually bands are a solid family because they spend a hell of a lot of time together, touring, writing etc. Joey is important but more talking to the family to discuss what can be used in the museum would be fantastic. Joey did not want to come back. He wanted to do another Album with his other band but Slipknot had to start the Album cause they still had the contract with Roadrunner. And even members from his other Bands Vimic and Scar the Martyr said Joey did not respones to calls. There are so many Interviews and everything about this Situation but most "diehard" fans are just so stuck up in Joey=Right Slipknot=Evil that they dont even want to know what was going on. Honestly, I'm struggling to figure out, if Slipknot is profiting off his death, how is it illegal? I get if they signed an agreement to return Joey's property, and they didn't. Then they would have to return the property and probably pay damages. Unless, the property they have is directly band related, then they have to figure out if that stuff was Joey's property or Slipknot's property. If it was paid for using bad funds, or if they were acquired using advances from Roadrunner, that means the band has to recoup that expense, so technically Joey didn't pay for it, Slipknot did. That's what they are going to have to figure out in court. Also, they'll probably have to confirm whether the "property" in question is authentic or replica. Their objective might be to derail the museum display by forcing them to either admit it's fake, or pay damages. It'll be interesting to see how t all shakes out.

    When Chris was basically pushed out, we saw our first link in the armor. I didn’t actually think they were losing much, he’s just a percussionist and a backup vocalist, they can find that pretty easily. Then Paul dies, that’s when I knew it was the beginning of the end. They had already been on a decline imho, but once Paul, then Joey left, it was almost already a different band 3 out of 9, 2 of the original band members, were now gone and already, don’t sound much like Slipknot anymore. They’re albums from the Gray Chapter on, completely different band. In fact I dislike their sound quite a bit and to hear they’re profiting of Joey in such a way, I hope they fall apart, like they’ve been doing the past 15 years. They started off amazingly, but now, they’re a shadow of their firmer self and they’re unrecognizable…. Disgusting & disgraceful.

    At the end of the day this situation could have been avoided. If they wanted to keep Joey's stuff in the Knotfest road show the band should have offered Joey's family a percentage, it didn't need to be a big percentage. But Slipknot (Shawn and Corey) is known for their shady deals and after Chris Fehn sewing them, this was just a matter of time until it happened again.

    • @Jasonxknot
      @Jasonxknot 4 месяца назад +9

      Joey let them use that stuff in the Slipknot museum for years. Joey loved the fans and he still loved the guys in Slipknot. He said they're all still his brothers and he praised The Gray Chapter. There were no hard feelings there. All drama is created by fans. This lawsuit is bullshit. The End, So Far says inside its dedicated to Joey, so the claim they said that after the release is bullshit. This is totally disrespectful to Joey and his legacy. There's no coincidence that they brought this lawsuit on right after Slipknot announced plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their self titled album. You know they're going to want to celebrities Joey and his contributions to that album. A lawsuit could potentially keep them from doing that. This is just a money grab. If they won and take the stuff away that Joey let Slipknot use, they're basically deleting Joey from Slipknot history.
      Shady business deals is created by fans too. Look into it. Chris complete dropped his lawsuit with no cost to either party. No settlement or anything. He was wrong about what he tried suing them for. Shawn's daughter claimed Chris was an addict and that's why he wasnt in the band anymore. He hid behind the lawsuit to keep that from coming out. After what happened to Paul, the band put in a strict rule that there would be no drug use with any of the members.

Chris wasnt part of the original Roadrunner deal. He didnt have any ownership in the band. He was hired on as a musician like V-Mann and Jay, for example. He didnt even record on the first album. Clown did all of the percussion on the first album. He wasnt even on the album cover. They edited him in afterwards. He wasnt entitled to any other money the band could have been making other than the paycheck they gave him to play percussion. That's just one of the reasons his lawsuit went nowhere. This is sad coming from a band that I really admired when I was like 12. When Paul's widow, Brenna Gray said that Slipknot wouldn't help her get Paul the help that he needed, I gave Slipknot the benefit of the doubt. And a lot of Slipknot fans called Brenna horrible and disrespectful names, like a gold digger, a stripper, a druggie, etc. When they kicked out Joey via email, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that never sat well with me. When Chris came out with his lawsuit saying that they were withholding payments and getting involved in shady dealings that had nothing to do with the band, I wanted to give Slipknot the benefit of the doubt, but how many times can I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt? During Chris' lawsuit, Corey and Clown's attorney said that "Mr. Fehn is not a shareholder in the company. Only Mr. Crahan and Mr. Taylor are." This translates to: "Slipknot is a company comprised of two CEOs and seven employees." But the fact of the matter is that they haven't sounded like Slipknot since Paul's death. Paul and Joey were the best songwriters in the band and R.I.P. to both. It's so wild going back to the late 90's/early 2000's interviews and listen to what they had to say about the music industry being money hungry sellouts. Now they seem to be everything that they used to hate.

    I think whats gonna come out in any court proceedings which will effect the outcome directly when it comes to Slipknot using Joeys stuff for they knotfest museum is actual ownership of said items. Stick and stuff tend to be sponsored at that level that Joey's at even if he has a signature stick. Its valued as an ad placement for the stick company to have someone like Joey using their stuff so he probably got his sticks for free. The mask, if it was a gift or if Corey designed or commissioned them for the band, they'd belong to the band. The drumkit easily could be something Joey purchased out of pocket thus it belongs to his estate or it could have been purchased by the company as a tour drum kit even if it was used for recordings, mvs, and personal use at home for Joey.
    Whats really going to determine if they're "profiting" off of Joeys death legally is who actually owns the stuff that they're showcasing in the museum. If it is owned by Joeys estate which was ordered to be given back, then yes, Slipknot clearly was profitting from not giving it back.

      If Joey wasn't worthy of their time when he was alive, then they're not worthy to display any of his person stuff he used in the band. Even if they are legitimately trying to honor his legacy, it's too little too late and they have no right to display it because it's not their property. Jay needed a medical procedure that would require time off as well right as slipknot fired him, Joey had medical issues as he got fired, Seems like a pattern is forming with the band. Chris says bad things about the band too so and Corey made Jim choose between slipknot or stone sour. A lot of red flags with them.

    I met a couple members of Slipknot at a Flyin' J in north Las Vegas one day. we were all standing in line to pay for Coke's and whatnot. Really nice guys. It was probably 1999, maybe 2000? I was headed back to my duty station after a TDY.

    I’ve heard that there is no extra fee to go into the museum. In my honest opinion, if I had a loved one who was in such a huge band and was no longer with them and then passed away, especially someone who was there from the beginning, I would 100% be ok with them putting some of their items in said museum. Especially one of their masks and an instrument. But that is just my feelings. I can’t speak for anyone else

    They replaced Craig so quick after he departed the band. They also emailed Jay the same way they did Joey saying he was out of the band. I agree at this point it's the Corey and Clown show. At this point the only original members since the first album are Corey, Mick, Jim, Clown, and Sid

    I'm pretty sure it will all boil down to property claims and paperwork, so we'll see how this plays out. And about the timing of the statement about "The End, so Far" being about Joey being to boost album sales because they saw bad numbers is a slippery slope.
    However, I would not discard this narrative as a marketing stunt.

    10:54 Is it his stuff though? If the band paid for it, or got it through sponsorships, it's not his personal property.
    Shoes? More likely that it belong to the estate maybe... drums? Masks? A written agreement to return "his stuff" could mean anything, definitely comes down to paperwork and literal receipts.

    Think of it this way.... If a law firm loses a partner due to death the firm is allowed to leverage all assets associated with that member, as well as their legacy, for profit. There's nothing wrong here. They also can keep his desk.

    They're really trying to lose the trust of their fans and at this point I just appreciate what I have from the past. It's really sad to see how little trust we should have with the two who seem to have become the heads of the band. You hear things online about how Corey and Clown run the show and the rest of the band are just in there collecting a pay check. Events of late have really made that sound very true

  • @joeyjonesaquatics507

    I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes so I want to see this from both sides. The way I see it is any band profits from a members death. Fans will buy merch, concerts tickets, stream songs more, and stuff similar to support the band they love. Another thing, I went to the Knotfest museum in Irvine, CA in 2022 and (correct me if I’m wrong) I don’t remember seeing anything of Joeys. I didn’t take many pictures because I wanted to live in the moment so I could be wrong but I just don’t remember seeing it. Last thing I want to mention is, the family is literally trying to profit off his death. Joey (to my knowledge) never filed a lawsuit about getting his stuff back and I have not seen Slipknot using Joey to promote their museum. So now that Joey has passed the family is trying to get money out of Slipknot. I could be wrong on all of this and I would love to discuss it with anyone willing to respectfully discuss the lawsuit.

    • @KleioChronicles
      @KleioChronicles 4 месяца назад +2

      That’s a good point. If the museum existed prior to his death, why didn’t Joey ask for that other stuff back and did he even truly own the costume or was it owned by the band? The family sound bitter over Joey’s treatment (rightly so) but I don’t think that means that Clown and Corey are always acting maliciously or greedily or that they don’t care now or then. Joey didn’t tell them about his condition from what I’m aware until after he was fired.
      I suppose I’m just looking at it more objectively. At the end of the day, bands are jobs and they require someone to manage the business side. The museum itself or having some of Joey’s band stuff in it doesn’t seem heinous to me. If anything, excluding him from the museum would be disrespectful.

  • @heidibaltom8138

    Do they have stuff from every past member in that museum? Because if its only Joeys stuff then I would say there mght be something to it. I dont quite now what to think. I do think its gotten to Corey though as he is taking time off and cancelled his shows.
