So by delayed coincidence this video falls on the one year anniversary of my first proper video on the channel, so happy one year everyone! Thank you for all the support and feedback, I like to think the channel has grown in a positive direction with a much better quality than when I started, I aim to double that quality again by this time next year-

To be fair the rocket vehicles, not ATGM vehicles, were built for a role that doesn't exist in WT. Artillery.

@@thoughtpolice2191 Because you can't damage them for most of the game, the HE ammo makes dealing damage very easy, if you get hit your crew is stunned for a few seconds (over 15 in some cases). This means you will be unable to fight because your spread increases (should simulate stunned gunner), your maneuverability is terrible (stunned driver), your view range (range where you can spot tanks otherwise they are invisible) is diminished (stunned commander) and you are an easy target for other tanks. There is an SPG in the game that has a German 105mm howitzer on a French B1 hull which means it has armor but most importantly it fires every 6 or so seconds so it can destroy your tracks faster than you can repair them, immobilizing you completely.
Most rocket vehicles cant even change their gun elevation without moving their gun sight and since their drop is so big it means that at distances where you would want to use artillery you cant see your target

To effectively play the Archer you must know the art of the drift
It's not a tank to win games really but it certainly slows down higher tier tanks as they steamroll your team. Have had some success being more aggressive though, maybe 'cause enemies don't expect to see it charging them and it's somewhat low profile for a brit tank.

But this violates the "Begins with A" rule ... this cannot stand! The Archer is an exceptional tank.... it just needs certain maps, and situations that Gaijin does not provide. Outrageous!
The funny thing is IRL the Archer had a good operational record, it's almost as though you're supposed to use a vehicle in the role and MO it was designed for....
Yup, if the modes/maps suited it (attack/defense for instance) it could have a purpose, fire and back up to reposition. But WT is about taking points, which means moving forward.
It wasn't even like somebody thought it was a genius design either, it was just a good way to make use of old valentine chassis that were going to waste, when resources were very limited.
Actually I found the archer to be magnificent... One shots anything, and it basically pays off to anyone who works well with it (me). Especially if you put bushes on it, as the gun is only a little longer than the chassis, and won't stick out far enough to give you away. Also, you can use your fast "forward" (?) speed to get close, and then your abysmal reverse speed to actually get into position. Nice thing is, it's slow enough in reverse to be hard to notice as far as "I saw something move!". Also reverse is extremely stable because it's so incredibly slow.
And the engine likes to soak up damage too. It's always fun when people land 3-4 rounds in your engine and you kill 2-3 of them before even bothering to put out the fire...

A big problem with WT is that less than half of these vehicles were designed specifically to fight other vehicles. They were designed to support infantry or work in tandem with other systems. APCs can fight vehicles but it's designed to transport troops while simultaneously providing fire support, and the Sheridan was great because it could be deployed with paratroopers giving light infantry much needed armor to combat hardened positions. All functions made pointless in WT.
CathFawr would be great at reading the side effects of drugs at the end of commercials.

John Shotter well some advice, take it slow, take it easy, lean what your tank/plane does best practice on it, also work on your aim, it will help you out both in planes and tanks. If you need help just ask
True that, I use my charioteer for capping zone or to rush in a big map, the juicy 20pdr is enough for anything in 7.0 and under
One of my favorite tanks to play. I find it a capable flanker even in 7.7 matches.

Sounds like written text, which is fine when you read it, but can be hard to follow when you hear it read out loud - especially when it's not actually read out loud, but quietly mumbled at insane speed. It really does give the impression of a shy student having to give a boring presentation and secretly wishing for it all to just finally be over.

Ro-Go is the least played? I never thought I would see anything less played than the Independent.
I enjoy the independent as it is kind of a seal clubber since many new players will be daunted by it's size and not realize how to effectively destroy it, which gives it some survivability. I think more people should play it.

lowering the battle rating of the jpz wouldn't change the fact that it has poor armor and bad gun handling. it's just a bad tank. decreasing it's br would hardly have an effect on its performance.
It has an insane rate of fire on that 90mm. Get that thing firing HEAT-FS at long range, traveling 1200m/s, you will correct on your first shot long before your enemy does. 320mm pen is more than enough at and around 7.0.
If you get a close range map you can use the incredible speed both forwards and backwards to move around coupled with a very low profile, you got a great chance to get side shots with HESH (yes, I do this) which can now pen T-54 frontally though not for great damage.
The APCR will traumatize you though ._.
And why is the Leopard 1 at 7.7?
I actually really love my JPZ, at 7.0 nobody can touch you at the range you can snipe from, and even at 7.7 you can get two shots of and can usually take out their engine and gun before they know where you are.

What I've learned from this video. Long reloads suck. rockets are memes. Penetration is important.

The H.35 was even worst for a moment, between the short time between the ammo stat changes and before it was removed from reserve. It's APHE devolved to a mighty.. 13mm of pen, and the APCR was like sub 30 now.
The H.35 isn't helped by the fact that Gaijin is under the illusion that the "inefficiency" of a one man turret totally crippled loading within it. All French low tier tanks suffer from an absurdly long reload for their tier, caliber of gun, and placement of the ammunition. They should all have similar fire rates to every other light tank, but because of "hurr durr, one man in the turret makes everything slower," they have reloads 1 to 3 seconds longer than everyone else. Unfortunately, unless someone comes up with documents on the RoF of these tanks, this artificial balancing move will continue to afflict low tier France.

Seeing the SU-122 on the "worst tanks in war thunder" list feels like a punch in the face with he current meta. At 2.3 and with the new shell mechanics it's genuinely OP. Good mobility, great armor, God-tier firepower.

My opinion on the list
20 Charioteer: A capably armed cromwell at 6.7. It’s excellent on the flank, if not the best vehicle at the tier.
19 T92: a gimmick tank. It’s gun is plenty capable, it’s fast, and it’s armor is enough to handle light weaponry (aa and 50s) It’s a harasser, not a brawler.
18 AMX30 Brenus: BRENUS!
17 ISU122: Good at it’s job, but there are better vehicles at the same tier.
16 Jadgpanzer: Armor is deceptively passable, speed is good, gun is capable. German hellcat.
15 Bagel: Never touched this thing, but it seems like it should have a warrior-AA playstyle.
14 Sheridan: The gun is a very nice howitzer with the heat, it’s essentially a guarantee of a one shot (or atleast a cripple) if you get the side. It’s the master of cities in the right hands (the W key stays down).
13 Panzerwerfer: It’s a meme. A glorious meme. Treat it like a fat sturmpanzer.
12 SU-122: The art of shooting under a tank. The good ammo is pretty reliable too. Take it out lategame, it will serve you well.
11 T61: Decent harasser, but I can’t defend it. It’s simply too big, if it was smaller it would be an absolute monster, but it isn’t.
10 Rogo: It’s not useless, but there are better japanese tanks at 1.3 that are in the tree.
9: PT-76B: It’s a PT-76. It’s a BEAST! This thing should not be on this list at all, it should be on the *best* tanks list.
8: The archer is a monster. If you’re experienced and can read the map, you will rule. Don’t bring it to city maps unless you’re a masochist though.
7: BM-8-24: A relatively useable rocket tank. If you want to play with the barrage, this is the vehicle to do it.
6 Sau-40: Armored tank destroyer, 40mm with it’s rounding, with a nice gun and sufficient mobility.
5 M2A2: OHH NO! YOU AINT INSULTING MY BABY BOY! He may not be strong, but he has will!
4 BM-13: It’s the katyusha. it isn’t made to fight tanks. It’s fun and impressively strong at long range though.
3: I-go-ko: This thing is actually good. It has very good explosive mass when it pens (it can 1shot the LVT), passable speed, and good maneuverability.
2: H.35: Not defending this damn thing. I despise it. It’s only positive is that (admittedly excellent) curved 40mm. The other hotchkiss is great, but this... ugh.
1: Type 60 ATM: Ugggghhhhhh this. I will accept this #1.

I don't get why the Ru 251 has a lower BR than the Kanonenjagdpanzer. The RU 251 is basically equal or superior to the Kanonenjagdpanzer in every way except for armour ( 50 mm still won't bounce any shells though). It should (IMO) be downtiered to 6.7.
Floris van den Beld they should switch places. The RU could arguable even be 7.3, at least as long as the M47 is at that BR.

The RU is on 6.7 because the're are more APHE shells on this BR, thus its more likely to be one shotted. APDS doesnt do shit if you dont hit the ammo or a crewmember directly

Honestly, I wasn't expecting m2a2 to be number 5. In the time I played it it was really fun to play, and suprisingly I penetrated most things at my tier front on, even when I got up br'd I was still able to take on a number of vehicles and kill them. I guess thats just me though, most other people I know who have tried the m2a2 just did not like it.

Alot of these are really satisfying to play since you dont expect to kill somebody. It makes it all better when you get a kill and you really feel like YOU were the reason. And with m2a2 i killed 3 tanks in a spree and 2 planes, it was glorious.
The official designation for the Charioteer is actually as a medium tank. Yeah, I know right. Its pretty understandable why WT doesn't call it a medium tank, but yeah, thats what the British classed it as. As someone who spaded the chariot I have to say, the thing is so painful to play. Its gun sucks, its armor sucks, and it has the classic garbage reverse speed of British vehicles.
I'm amazed you consider the Scorpion superior to the T92. The Scorpion was a nightmare to spade due to CAS, CDR cupola .50 cals, and how poor the Scorpion's gun works upon penetration. The T92 was way more fun and efficient to spade.

The ISU 122 is a relic from lower brs where the vehicle was actually good. It is like all tank lines, where the last iteration before a phase shift blows hard because its what clued people in that there needed to be a change.
The JPZ 4-5 is a textbook example of Gaijins pay to win model. The RU-251 has the same gun and shells but is somehow a lower tier and lower BR. The 4-5 is such a hassle and you feel so cheated as you play it.
The Bagel is a fun challenge, anyone playing should know damn well what they are getting themselves in for. Its like playing Japan, you can do it, but its going to be hard.
The Sheridan sucks as much in real life as it does in-game. Guys in Vietnam actually made repeated requests for their Walker Bulldogs back after getting the Sheridan.
The Panzerwerfer is the same as all other MLRS, you should know what you are getting yourself in for when you play it. This game is not built for rocket ARTY, they are a secondary thought that barely functions. Know what you are getting into, including how rewarding it is when you do well in it.
The SU-122 was so boring and lame to play, its derpy as hell and underwhelming. Its just in general a bland experience.
The Type 61 is the definition of Gaijin's poor balancing. This thing does not play like a medium tank. This thing is a light tank with none of the light tank perks. The only good thing is it has really weird armor that somehow reflects shots that should kill it.
The Ro-Go, like every other nation's landship, blows. And among them, the Ro-Go is the worst, even worse than the Independent.
FUCK THE PT-76. That thing was one of the worst experiences to spade. I hate this thing with a passion. And no, just because some third world nations still use it, it sucks in real life too. Those countries still use it because they are dirt cheap and are better than nothing. Even the USSR itself hated the thing, thats why they sold em off to third world nations. Want realism? Try putting the Iraqi Roundel on it and taking on Abrams tanks like the Iraqis did. We all know it worked out.
Dont hate on the archer, its a really unique and fun challenge. The thing is really fun, if push comes to shove, just play it in AB and do donut spin shots. So much meme, such wow.
The BM-8-24 deserves to be hidden, paying money for that thing is a joke and a scam. The Katyusha event was the only time I ever played it and it sucks SO MUCH.
The SAU-40 is a prime example of what you are getting inf or when playing France's tech tree. If you play with the team it can endure, but its a really rough experience to spade.
The M2A2 is like all the other armored car style vehicles that serve as the base of the SPAA line in each tree. Its designed to dissuade undedicated people from playing SPAA. You have to know what you are getting into when playing SPAA and this thing teaches people the hard way.
Dont shit on the Katyusha, they straight up told people it wasnt meant to arrive in the game. And when they finally made it available they straight up called it a collector's item not meant to be played seriously.
Awww dont hate on the Type89. Its a great way to clue people in from the start what Japanese tank gameplay is going to be like. I love my little duck tank.
OMFG screw the H35 and its subsequent vehicles. It is so annoying to play. But again, it gives you a pretty clear picture of what playing France is going to be like.
Oh God, I am about to start the spading process for the Type 60 ATM. Please God, someone, anyone, help me. Save me from the torment I am about to embark upon. At least they fixed one of the vehicle's crew problems, but theres still other issues that needing to get fixed.

I agree with you for most parts, the gun on the Charrioter is good, the reserve typical for a Cromwell chassis. I still do not understand why the Type61 sits at 6.7 when the ST-A1/2 are better every aspect and they sit at 6.3 ( in AB).
Mmmm, I can relate with the PT-76, I just got it, it's a light tank, that's slow, and sucks at killing things.... There's literally nothing it's good at. I've had better luck with the T-50 in battle rating 5 games, than with the PT-76.

The SU-122 is great, even in an uptier. You can pen a Panther’s upper glacis at any distance.

Don't you think, that a great thing that the awesome WT lacks is the physical reality of guns ? Meaning that they should collide with the environment so urban combat would be sooo much more realistic and technical ! :)

For simulator battles: sure (although the game is nowhere close to being realistic, armor thickness for modern tanks is pulled out of the ass, Abrams's turret ring being like solid centimeter visible, while IRL it is fully hidden in the hull, and don't get me started on BS carousel autoloaders that eat shells like "t'is but a scratch")

It's bad in all regards except the niche it fits.
Stock ammo fucking sucks but APHE and FSHEAT are pretty alright in my book. (FSHEAT is great for kittys)
The niche is that it swims. Slap on some blue paint and swim in many places to flank enemies I guess.
There are like 2 maps that I know where this is relatively very effective, and both maps where this works leads you directly to the enemy's main cap which is great.

Low armor... Two words: Light tank
Reverse speed: Compared to the British, I see no issue.
The only thing that was probably true is the long reload speed.
Note about the Ro-Go and I-Go-Ko: These tanks now have a heat round that is much better than their standard round. In Arcade, the I-Go can actually be *great* fun, and I've had some amazing rounds with it, but in Realistic battles, it's still pretty lame.

You seem to have forgotten about the Churchill Mk.1, Gaz-AAA DShK and the "excellent" ST-A1 and ST-A2

A_Russian_Spy I got it. In the fricking last minute. Love it, need skills and some situation but those rockets would fuck shit up.
Rocket artillery like the Katyusha wasn't meant to engage armor, but rather to carpet bomb. The Katyusha would roll up, fire off a salvo, and reposition quickly before the attack could be answered. They suck in the game because they can't be used for their intended purpose.
The archer would be much more fit for the french so they can actually shoot at enemy tanks while running away

Early french tanks can hold their ground as long as they show their backs at the enemy, any round that penetrates can be stopped by modules.

the matilda is okay, but it’s at the same tier as a vehicle factually better than it in every way, the churchill I. I personally think it’s overtiered.
I mean, the Matilda was meant for infantry support if I remember, so it has slower speed to let the infantry catch up, at least I think.

Fun fact, the archer suffered from its barrel warping since it was located just above the engine so during long engagements the gun would start to warp

The ERA doesn't justify a higher BR in a lot of cases. In the case of the BRENUS, it's because it gets a new engine, which, in all fairness, makes it that bit better than the regular B2.

The whole Br isn't exactly such a good thing because they use it to equalize chances on the battlefield for the cost of historical feeling that a tank should give. For example the 1940 T-34 was famous for bouncing off the shells fired from german 37mm and 75 short barrel guns, but in the games it always comes into 1942 Pz IV F2 which kills it one shot from any distance and almost any angle. It gets even worse when BRs are wrong. IS3 scared the West in 1945 but in game it's at the same BR with 70ies tanks, some of which even have 400mm of penetration which means anything can take out IS3 easily and the heavy tank that is supposed to be resilient is just a clumsy deathtrap that takes ages to reload.
#2 is the reason that I just used premium to grind the French tier 1 and early tier 2.
The T92 is literally my top tank on my service record out of all the nations. It can pen IS-6s and IS-3s, and with a well placed shot even IS-4M.

It's really cheap to take out sp wise pretty much a guaranteed 3rd tank to take out in realistic. Stock grind is horrendous but the heat fs can kill most things.
Type61 is actually one of my favorite tanks to play. It's just mobile enough to flank, the gun has good versatility with the heat and the aphe, letting me deal with anything I can face. In a nutshell: It's just fun. (and it used to keep up with the ru-251 in acceleration up to a point. Witnessed this miracle often in SRE.) I have a video of me carrying my team with 14 kills in it on my channel if you want to check it out. (iirc the is-6 was still 7.0 or 6.7 or whatever it was at the time too)
You can do well with even bad tanks if you're good. This list is just to point out the tanks that require good skill to overhaul their shortcomings.

PT-76 is actually pretty good. It's just not the same after the historical reload nerf
And it was quite buffed moving to 5.3 and removing the fuel tanks in the back.
Still it just needs the 12.7 on the roof to defend from planes (it had it IRL)
It isn't good... The HEATFS round is one of the worst HEATFS shots in the game and everyone can kill you very easily.. But PT-76 is stil better than ASU-85 that thing is copletely shit
jonasxdufek ye, ASU 85 is pretty trash, but I never had problems with PT-76s HEATFS (always 2 shots at most, german ammoracks always die from 1 shot)

It's bad but if you know how to use a stabilizer at 5.3 you'll do well enough. It's bad enough to where you can still have fun in it.
If you plan to revisit this at some point, consider the ST-A1/2 for a slot. Possibly the worst mediums tier-for-tier I’ve ever driven.

Nr. 15 have a thin armor because the hull of it is just the german "Schützenpanzer Marder" ( Infantry Fighting Vehicle). they just replaced the RH202 mashinecanon and changed a bit at the back ( rear door etc.). the only strange thing is that there are vents at the top rear, which makes no sence because the engine is in the front. right beside the driver

Tip for the katyusha: Try uninstalling your suspension, as this allows you to dip down after you slow down, allowing you to have a chance to luckily disable the enemy tank in front of you
Jpz 4-5 worse than the ISU-152? o_O
I quite like the Jpz 4-5. Its fast, has a low profile, has great RoF and very good zoom. Its perfect for big open maps and in reality far better than the Jagdtiger is at 7.0 because the armor doesn't mean all that much compared to how slow it is.
JPz is getting so much hate only because ppl played it only with APCR. Unlock HEAT-FS and you have a great hunter.

Well, i bought talisman for it, and then just rushed cap points all day. Then i got HEAT-FS and things got serious.
I just unlocked the Maus and a stock Maus is like the worst tank ever. Everyone has HEAT or HEAT-FS and once your set on fire or have your engine or gun modules destroyed you are toast. Or you'll just get bombed before you even see the first enemy tank.
The T92 is so good now that Overpressure is a thing. I keep tanking HEAT into my transmission and engine

You forgot to mention the bug in the type 60 that was present for over 6 months where the commander was given top priority crew to where you would have no gunner, and where losing a loader meant you couldn't reload the atgms at all. The "tank" has remained hated to this day for the reputation created by that bug and people still experience so many bug witg it, like rockets suddenly warping into the ground or glitching above a target at the last second.
Definitely the #1 slot.

i have to disagree about the SU-122 while its obvious it lacks armor its HEAT is the biggest selling point about it as the HEAT shell of the SU-122 is very powerful i have played a lot of games with it and spaded the thing easily because it has a small profile and great speed that allows it to get into good positions and despite lacking armor barely anybody wants to mess with you frontally until you have fired your shell but the reload is not that bad while it does take some time its way more faster than some other Soviet Derp guns
The biggest problem with the charioteer as far as I can tell is that uptiering it to run with your 6.7's, there's no reason to spend all the time reserching and upgrading it for something thats gonna perform almost the same as a comet/challenger if worse.

The Archer was designed for hit and run tactics. It was designed to be able to quickly get away and is why forwards is the reverse gear and reverse is the normal gears.

Have you played the pt-76?? It has the worst HEATFS in the game and everyone can hullbreak you or kill you in 1 shot.. Its very bad tank. ASU-85 is even worse than PT its just completely shit tank. Even 7.92mm machine guns can kill you

In my Sherman’s I have never had trouble with the PT-76, the heat usually only kills one crew member and I hull break it or kill the crew anyways. So I’d say it’s not very good.
I very much enjoy the PT-76b for its scout capabilities and the HEATFS. 200mm of pen at 5.3 is nothing to scoff at, even if its postpen is pretty lackluster. Plus, it'll hull break M18's all day long. Still want to carry a couple APHE for where it can be used.
The whole Cromwell chassis should be on here it’s armor is legit worse or slightly better then a reserve tanks armor depending on where your looking and it has no reverse speed the only thing good about the Cromwell chassis is the speed.
