Crunchyroll subtitles making Subaru say “Emilia is my waifu” instead of girlfriend/bride... they really look for every opportunity to make my boy look bad 💀💀💀
Except that 俺の嫁 is literally the Japanese equivalent meme of "mai waifu" and is just as cringy. "Waifu" is an accurate translation, unless you argue that Subaru (or Nagatsuki) just coincidentally used the exact same wording.
@@aa-in2kn The thing is, in japanese using 俺の嫁 can mean both "my bride" or "my waifu" depending on the context and based of what i've seen online most japanese people don't see that line as saying "waifu". So yes it is a japanese meme but it is also a normal way of calling someone your bride, unlike the word waifu which 99% of the time is a joke/degenerate word.
This episode was absolutely packed, another banger from Whitefox. Subaru & Betty's display of magic "EMM" was actually very different in the anime? It confused me at first, the anime makes it out to be a sort of shadow-step or phasing ability. In the novel it's described as "Absolute Defense Magic", a sort of field that wraps around them, side-stepping the plane of existence, and achieving temporary invincibility as long as they have mana. Basically a starman power-up in Mario. When they used EMM, Regulus' hand didn't harm Subaru, he just stopped upon hitting his chest. They cut that Subaru proceeded to repeatedly punch Regulus in the face- although it didn't hurt him, even using his Authority of Sloth. Subaru thinks upon seeing this that Regulus' Authority is similar to a permanent EMM. Regulus had no soot from Sirius' flames on his clothes, no sweat on his brow from the heat, he was acting as though nothing could affect him... and the scary part is that his confidence seems earned. The scene with Lye was actually off-screened in the novel, so this was nice to see! Lye's whole thing in season 2 and 3 (although CR subtitles sometimes miss this) is that he uses exclusively plural pronouns: We/Us/Our. Very interesting implications there. Garfiel & Mimi under the moonlight was spectacular, the second time I've cried from this scene now! Something I always think about Garfiel is that he feels just like a shonen protagonist. Imagine Re:Zero from Garf's POV, it's something straight out of weekly shonen jump. Capella hasn't done much yet, but a very significant detail is her surname: **Lugunica.** That's the name of the country they're in, and the surname of the royal family which was wiped out by a mysterious illness, kickstarting the royal selection. Capella also appears to have gold hair and red eyes in the op, the distinct traits of the royal family that Felt also possesses- Felt of course was suspected of being the kidnapped royal from 15 years ago in season 1. The Witch's remains isn't specified, but we know it can't be Satella or Echidna. Satella is alive & sealed in a desert, and Echidna's remains were in Sanctuary. So, there are 5 options. This also hammers in that Echidna is a liar: Satella can't have killed all of the Witches if at least one was killed in Priestella's trap.
Regulus is basically that little kid that grabs something and says mine, even when the stuff isn't theirs. Then when you say no he explodes you with his mind.
After reading the Web Novel I worried that anime onlies might not catch some of the details but damn you're catching on to everything (like Fred just being a shorter version of Frederica). Really fun to see you're perspective lol
To think it's normal for glutt to be in many forms. Whale had many clones fighting for him, there were a lot of rabbits and the snake is just an insane mess(you can rewatch how he looked like).
20:35 originally regulus was talking about how it violated petelgeuse's rights that sirius took his last name on her own not sure if this is just a mistranslation or something the anime changed, theres also the whole subaru calling Emilia his waifu which is a weird translation but it was funny and for cut content i dont remember anything apart for some dialogue being cut for regulus which is going to happen every time hes on screen, i do remember the garfiel mimi rooftop scene hitting a lot harder in the novel im not sure whats missing from it in the anime but the novel part was probably around top 5 scenes for arc 5, VA's killed it but and the backgrounds have looked great all season so far Edit: 1:04:36 mimi is a kitten human her entire race is around that size, oh you read the novel part at the end nice now i remember why it hit so much harder
My thoughts on this episode. -The Witch that got trapped can't be Satella because as far as we know her and pandora are still alive somewhere. -It's interesting that Capella Emerada Lugunica has a "Lugunica" in her name. -If sirius can syn emotions then she absolutely syc the horny -we are given objectives, the towers control, mana for betty, dealing with the archbishops, and saving emilia Edit: to add more, -we still don't know the role of Liliana in this story -are we gonna get something on why Felt is royalty -Is Capella the missing royalty that Subaru and Wilheim talked about with her being a "lugunica" -are we gonna get more Sirius hip shots -Most of the characters are probably gonna fight/heal support, what's the role of the merchants (Otto and Anastasia) are they just gonna be strategists? and otto is facing Gluttony currently. -Are there more Gluttony? is it the same with the The Three Great Mabeast by Daphne, lye can eat memories and existence like how the whale does, does the other gluttonies have the same ability as the other great mabeasts? -Are we gonna see another Great Rabbit level death?
Felt is the princess that was kidnapped. The anime doesn’t even hide it either; the first thing Reinhard asked her when he saw the dragonstone gem glow in her hands was for Felt’s “family name” and age. It’s also important to note that the royal House of Lugunica have golden hair and crimson eyes.
There were chapters that were cut from the anime in Arc 4 that talk about how the witches actually died, and it's not all from Satella like Echidna said. My only guess on why Echidna said that they died from Satella is because Satella effectively killed the witches' names in history by being so bad that their deeds intead got attributed to her. That or she was lying/presenting Subaru the truth that the majority believed, which is also possible. Typhon died from drowning in a flood btw so it's probably her. Her name is pretty close to Typhoon after all
About the witches' deaths, here is some cut content from WN Arc 4 Vol 13, which would be the last episode of Season 2 Part 1. "Satella was driven mad because of the Witch Factor; Minerva died of insanity, caught in a trap; Carmilla perished in a sea of flames; Daphne wasted to death amid an ocean of sand; Typhon drowned in a flood; Sekhmet fell down the Great Waterfall as she rained destruction upon the Dragons; Echidna collected their souls, remaining bound to the present world by soul alone." Echidna is a liar. Bad girl.
Sirius is also might not be able to "soulwash" spirits. There was no effect on Beatrice and she wasn't able to brainwash Geuse into loving her. Maybe it's one of the reasons she is into that spirit. Cause she can easily get any love and admiration from non-spirits and it's just not interesting for her.
Regulus has never been damaged by any attacks, it’s not a matter of bypassing some kind of force field the attacks do hit him, he’s just seemingly invincible.
It's crazy that while Regulus finds potential wives just from their faces, considering he has 79 of them, which is actually an interesting parallel to arc 1 Subaru, who followed and tried to save Emilia without even knowing her name. While Sirius believes that love is the connection between people, the sharing of emotion, feelings, and pain, almost the exact opposite of Regulus's, and this is a stretch, but I also believe she is a reflection of arc 4 Emilia where she thought that love was contractual and should be able to be understood, when it's actually an incredibly selfish and sporadic thing that is not understood, but felt (cue 'A Reason to Believe'). Sirius also reflects Emilia at her lowest point when she reached a breaking point in episode 11 and found solace in the existence of Subaru, wanting Subaru all for herself like Sirius wants Petelgeuse all to herself. Also on who they are following, it is most likely Pandora since she is the one that can name the Archbishops and could order Regulus around in the Emilia Flashback. How do you feel about your favourite character, Mimi, now? she is a demihuman, specifically a kitten human btw, and she is actually older than Garfiel which is hilarious. Another thing, since you read the passage from the crying scene, a lot of the inner thoughts are actually a reference to the poem 'The Tyger' by William Blake, which I actually only found out recently.
Garfiel and Frederica were both children of SA from different fathers, happened after the mom was sold into slavery by her own parents. There she was traded and stolen as merchandise many times by bandits until Roswaal saved her. He got her to live in the beastmen sanctuary, to protect her children from persecution, she was going to live there too. Even knowing the circumstances of their creation she still loved both of them, and went to find Garfiel's father for him. Also, since Frederica is also his half sibling he feels love for the kids as well. He just doesn't want to tarnish the happiness her mother has finally gotten, since it's kind of blessing she doesn't have to live with her demibeast children as constant reminders of her past as a slave/ SA victim or better yet doesn't remember her terrible past it in its entirety. There's a strong argument for just letting her finally be happy, the author himself posted a tweet where he said she was the unluckiest character in the story so its pretty hardcore.
From what i remember Frederica was a SA baby, but Garfiel's father was just a deadbeat. It would be really weird for Reala to go looking for a man that SA her.
@@the3angelsshadowpje I double-checked and you may be right, in Ch 30 of arc 5 WN says the became the plaything for the bandits who fathered Frederica but given that she could leave the other bandits after she was pregnant with the Garfiel it's probably just as bad. Could have been the exclusive favorite of the leader, prostitution or maybe volunteered to their lust in exchange for treating Frederica nicely/helping raise her, who knows.
I wonder if Sirius's ability works backwards. Like when Beatrice healed Subaru's leg did it heal everybody's legs at the same time? I was wondering that, because i don't know if Betty would have had the time to heal everyone otherwise.
I'm still wondering what Liliana role will be in S3, I think she has a role in the archbishop's story, maybe Capella - Felt I think they are a bit similar of course with the fact that Felt is a descendant of the lost kingdom and Capella has the name Lugunica.
About the names. Google all the names of the archbishops and witches as cosmic bodies including Subaru. They do not relate to earthly mythologies like pandora's box, there are other meanings here.
The Garf roof scene with Mimi in the novel is so fucking heartbreaking with the narration and monologue. One of the few times I actually cried reading re zero
WHO CARES ABOUT GARFIEL'S MOM LOSING HER MEMORIES? HER WORLD HASN'T EXPERIENCED THE PEAK THAT IS THE PINKCUBED RUclips CHANNEL ANYWAY. SHE HASN'T EXPERIENCED TRUE PEAK YET.
I can't believe you cracked the code on the sins of the Archbishops. Ive been wondering for years why each bishop is assigned their sin due to their personalities rarely relfecting it, but you cracked the code. Its all about how they love. Petelgeuse failed to meet the one he loved (Satella) / failed to save fortuna the one he loved therefore the sin of sloth. Regulus views love as shallow as a concept as beautiful girls which is why he takes so many women as his wives therefore the sin of greed. Sirius is fueled by jelousy and emotions failing to comprehend why the one she loves can also love others which results in the sin of wrath. Ley(s) is starving for love and so eats peoples names and memories to grasp love or they see love as being satiated therefore the sin of gluttony Capella loves primal insticts/urges and degeneracy or people being her pets/slaves and therefore embodies the sin of lust. This would also explain Pandora the witch of Vanity. All of her statements involve "I believe blank" and reality changes to fit that. She loves herself and her version of reality so she quite literally makes the world revolve around her own concept of reality and therefore is the sin of vanity. I suppose even Hector the Warlock of Melancholy could maybe fit this since he is always in despair and views love as a pain and so embodies meloncholy. It makes so much sense now. Wow. Great job!
