A large portion of kidnapping is done by people the child trusts - often family. A lot of parents that don't have custody or are aware that they will lose custody. That commercial is really good.

I love the idea of portraying men as protectors, rather than the predators for once. It's a bit against my philosophy of strict neutrality about that sort of thing, but it's been the other way around in fiction so many times and for so long, I can only feel relief. There are some of us out here. Most men, all that I know, are protectors, and we all love kids.

I have amber alerts on my phone, and during kidnapping season in my area (Yep. That’s a thing…) it’s always a parent or sibling, or other family member, and it’s always kids between 2-8. Kids too young to ask questions when a grownup they know is friendly to them suddenly picks them up and takes them away.
It’s a small town, so we usually find them, thankfully. I caught one in my drive-thru once. Stupidest thing you can do if you’re a kidnapper. I didn’t know them personally, so I don’t know the details why, but the kid was obviously hers, and she probably just wanted time with them. That still doesn’t justify kidnapping.

That Amber Alert one was genuinely really good. It not only raises awareness for and promotes Amber Alerts but also shows how kidnappers can very often (and usually are) look like or even just actually be the kids' parents or other relatives.

I completely missed the "wife's boyfriend" bit, and was focused on the leg. First of all, what kind of idiot sells their prosthetic leg, to send another person to a sporting event. Down in the States I could see someone having to selling their limb(s) to help pay for the lifesaving surgery of themselves or another, but for something like this, no f-ing way. Secondly, what kind of a person would take someone's limb, so they could have a completely unnecessary experience. And it's not like they'll have anything concrete to show for it either. The entire situation is unsavoury, and actually quite pathetic. Some people and their lives, are real life SNL skits.

    • @NatLaS

Disclaimer: making noise and/or moving forward together as a group of people works on black bears, but not grizzlies or polar bears. Black bears are naturally less aggressive than grizzlies or polar bears and usually only younger black bears will be brave enough to try and attack individual people/two or three people; so it's very easy to scare them off with groups of people or even just extremely loud noises. A grizzly or polar bear may attack even large groups of very loud people in an effort to find the weakest link. Confronting a grizzly or polar bear is Not recommended at any point in time without proper training and equipment.

fun tip by someone on my high school's varsity bowling team: typically you want to stand somewhere from the second to middle dot and aim for the second-to third arrow of either side (depending on whether you are left or right-handed). The standard target spot for a strike (getting all 10 pins on your first shot) is in one of the "pockets" (between the head pin and one of the pins right next to it on either side). If you hit the pocket that is on the opposite side of where you were standing, it is called a Brooklyn. :)
