- The increible comedy duo of Werner Klemperer (Colonel Wilhelm Klink) and Leon Askin (General Albert Burkhalter) from the hit comedy TV show 'Hogan's Heroes'
Werner Klemperer is an Emmy Award-winning actor from his work on Hogan's Heroes.
Hogan's Heroes is a popular television series that aired on CBS from 1965 to 1971.
Turn the music down for crying out loud
I need to escape from that music.
I can hardly hear myself think, let alone anything else.
I drove an ice cream truck once, the music drive me nuts. Thanks for finishing the job.
You are one funny man!!!
Yes, lose that music...way too loud too! 😢👎
so you drove an ice cream truck "ONCE AROUND THE BLOCK"!!! and then you quit!!!. I never drove an ice cream truck ,I am way too smart for that one!!!!!
The compilation is great, but the background music just keeps getting obnoxiously louder and louder, blocking out the conversation between the actors.
We don't like the music other than that I love it
Brilliant as always. Hogan’s Heroes was legendary! Nothing like it today.
General Burkhalter was my favorite person on the show...the back and forth between him and Klink was some of the funniest moments on tv ever lol lol
mycolortv1 and Hoschtetter too
Shut up Klink.
Carter, Newkirk, Schultz. In that order.
Borkholter in my top five fav's on that show...'Kleenk, you eediot!'...lol
my favourite general in the german army
' Klink!! I haven't laughed like this in years,.. I really am an old nasty tub of LARD!! ' 🤣🤣🤣 hilarious! These two are too funny!!
😂
Get rid of the Music, it’s way too loud.
Indeed
Oh that music!! I could've torn my hair out strand by strand. I'll have to submit myself to therapy after this.
Askin and Klemperer, gold together. Thanks for posting! :) I remember Kathleen Freeman playing the general's sister, always marriage minded ...
Kathleen Freeman was funny.
Burkhalter: Remember, there ARE worst things than marrying the sister of General Burkhalter. (slams door)
Klink: Name ONE.
Burkhalter: (reopens door) The Russian Front. (slams door, again)
Do you know who is really pretty Kling secretary she was beautiful German women are usually very beautiful 😍
@@taylorlynne8504 She married Bob Crane (Hogan).
could do without the music.
for sure
The music needs to go
What made the music a bad addition was that it was far too loud to enjoy the dialog.
Absolutely, knock off with the loud music. I stop watching at 6:14 couldn’t take it any longer. Of course I see your not taking suggestions or it wouldn’t have been 3years since it was originally suggested. 😞
I like Joplin, but this is overdone
I love Leons rage on his face and his BULGING eyes...classic!
good best of burkhalter video except the background music is annoying as hell
Rob W too loud . I could handle 5 min, only. It's a Chinese water torture ,except with music
Classic TV programming making people think that a Nationwide Obesity Epidemic is totally acceptable. And that we should have a president with an overly enlarged colon.
Dump the music.
They had such great chemistry. Makes me laugh alot. Poor Klink !
Colonel Klink is a brilliant comic creation!
DITTO EVERYONE KNOWS THE NAME COLONEL KLINK!!!!
The German soldier equivalent of Barney Fife 😂 both great charactees in television comedy.
Music killed it
Lovely Scot Joplin. Pity we can't hear Leon Askin and Werner. Turn the music down.
Even better, turn it OFF.
He might be trying to avoid copyright problems. As long as you can hear them. Nothing worse than a video of people moving their mouths nut you can't tell what they're saying.
Please turn off music😒
Another good line is when Major Hochstetter has been outsmarted by Hogan again the major asks Burkhalter, " How does one transfer to eastern front?" and Burkhalter replies, " No problem. I'll have you there by tomorrow!"
Yes I loved that line.
One of my favorites is where Burkhalter catches Major Hochstetter dancing with LeBeau!
That is one of the funniest scenes in all of Hogan's Heroes!
Yesssss! I LOVED that scene!!!😂😂🤣
😁😅🤣
"Klink... You're An Idiot"!! That line always made me laugh!!
General Burkhalter was my favorite character on Hogan's Hero's. Leon Askin played this part perfectly.
Werner Klepmerer's portrayal of Colonel Klink was all the more amazing when you take into account the fact that he had done relatively no comedy performances in his career. Along the lines of Leslie Nielsen years later, he had been a successful actor but had done serious and dramatic roles until Hogan's Heroes came along. As he tells the story, he wasn't even aware the show was a comedy when he was first approached to play the part! A rare example of the perfect actor in the role of a lifetime!
Absolute Genius regarding his Character. No one on the Planet could have played Klink other than Klemperer. From facial Expressions to timing. Still laughing after all these years.
I agree...the music is there, and almost wipes out the video's soundtrack.
This show is comedy gold. I watched this on Note 8. The part where Klink plays "Off We Go Into The Wild Blue Yonder," had me laughing so hard that I almost dropped my phone.
The background music ruined it. 😆
Ironically, that was the one time Klink didn't butcher the violin.
I know did you see how mad the general was he was ready to kill KLINK or when he said he ran into a top general and he promoted clink and then the general reps of the promotion and hands it to KLINK
@@launcesmechanist9578 the ironic part is klink was a classically trained professional musician and violinist! For all the screeching he did on the violin in the show he actually played very well!
And Leon Askin (Burkhalter) served in the Army Air Corps(?) during WWII
Excellent compilation but IMO the music ruined it: at times it was hard to hear the conversation.
" Ditto"
Agreed. And it seemed to get louder near the end, didn't it?
Yep.
Right on SIS....U GO GIRL!🤠
Copyright protection.
Leon Askin played Burkhalter to a tee. He was fantastic. He lived until the age of 98!
He existed to his late 90's. I don't consider being confined to a wheelchair to be "living".
97 klink
@@ArbeedubyaHow dare you imply that being in a wheelchair is basically the end of living. People in wheelchairs still can lead productive lives although adjusted a bit from how we live it. Yoyr ignorance and disrespect is pathetic. Get some sense.
You missed my favorite: "How would you like to hear sleigh bells...coming towards you!"
As a reference to Klink being sent to the Eastern Front.
Agreed, why the music.
Lots of great memories. Thank you!
Music got louder...and Louder....and LOUDER! Too bad I couldn't hear most of the dialogue. Damn.....oh well.
Nice video, but why is the music so loud?
Moreover, this music does not fit these scenes.
Unfortunately, the background music ruined what was a great compilation.
Could do without the music
Did you know that Leon Askin, the guy who played General Burkhalter, lived to be 97 years old? Who would have thought that from looking at him? Ernest Borgnine also looked like a guy who would blow out early and he lived to be 95.
Really? Both bits of info are interesting.
Yes, I remember posting many comments such as "Leon Askin yet lives" (until 2005 anyways). All the other German officers on Hogan had already passed.
And Winston Churchill lasted to 90 despite his drinking and cigar smoking!
Askin also spent the last years of his life in a wheelchair in a nursing home. Some "life".
@@Arbeedubya better than being 6 ft under!
The show was the best when these two were together..
Funny video but please redo it and remove the music. The music ruins the comedy.
LOVE Leon Askin!
Askin as Burkhaulter was a stroke of genius, the back and forth bbetween him and Klink was the best and funniest thing about the show
@@mycolortv1 well next to Klink and Hogan's interactions in Klink's office.
Get rid the piano recital in the background! The music fights the actors on the screen for attention.!
Hilarious! I love these episodes! Grew up watching these.
I always love Hogan's Heroes. I always will.
I love the one where Klink says, "There has never been a successful escape from Stalag 13!" Burkhalter replies, "So you have told me, and told me, AND told me!" 😂
3 years in solitary for that horrid overbearing "frontground" music. I tuned in to HEAR the dialogue.
3 years in solitary is not enough! That man has to be shot and sent to the Russian front, there shot once more and then made to clean the latrines!
@@u.v.s.5583 Has to be shot first before sending to the russian front?
Don't you mean 3 years in the cooler 😂🤣🤣😂
I would personally see to it that he is sent to the Russian front
Can I recommend you turn the background noise up just a little higher. I can still hear the actual video....
"I'll bet you're ready to blow your lard at me"
omg I'm crying from laughing so hard😂
music is too loud
KILL THE MUSIC,... TOO LOUD!
Klink!!! The usual way General Burkhalter greeted Colonel Klink and usually when Klink least expected it.
General Burkhalter was my favorite character on Hogan's Hero's.
Me too...I think that was because he impressed me as authentically German and the arrogance lol
@@robertallen6710 You are right 100%. The dialogue between him and Klink was hysterical sometime. One time he gave Klink and order to do something
Klink: " Do you want me to do it in my normal way"? Burkhalter: "No. This time I want it done rrright." Great show. Burkhalter always rolled his "R's"
Mine too, that and schultz a close second! I love impersonating the character myself. Klink: ah it's good to see you general, Burkhalter: Klink, Berlin is not happy with your stalag! Keep your house in order! Or your new house will be overlooking the Volga! LOLOLOL
@@nicholasregan6526 I should have said this earlier, but some of my favorite memories of this show is when General Burkhalter and Major Hochstetter were in the
same scene. Some of that was hysterical. One of Hochstetters recuring lines was "What is dis man doing here"? , referring to Hogan.
@@Eddie_Schantz thats outstanding its such a great show and we'd be wishful thinking to think there will ever be a show like this ever again! I have the whole DVD set! Thanks for sharing!
The Scott Joplin Rag, 'The Entertainer' is a nice tune on its own but why is it used a backing tune for this compilation video? The volume starts low but is increased as the video progresses and is overtaking the actors dialogue.
Imho, tv shows and actors today can't hold a candle to these brilliant actors. But thankfully we have re runs of shows like this!
The music is annoying and unnecessary.
Excellent video, but there are two scenes that are missing. 1. Burkhalter enters, Klink's office: Klink - Ah General Burkhalter what an unexpected pleasure. Burkhalter - Unexpected yes, pleasure no.
2. Burkhalter enters, Klink's office: Klink - Ah General Burkhalter, I have some wonderful news for you. Burkhalter - You've transferred to the navy?
I believe for the first one Klink says “General Burkhalter! What a pleasant surprise!”
To which Burkhalter responds “surprise yes, pleasant no.”
Excellent cast for this great comedy. Klink was probably my favorite but they were all great. . My Dad's favorite show.
I have seen every episode of this show. Burkhalter always treats Hogan with respect and treats him almost as a friend when they interract with other people. You get the feeling that if Burkhalter ever found out about the real goings on, he would tip his hat to Hogan with grudging admiration.
My favorite show
The great Leon Askin. RIP.
So many comments about other actors.
Leon Askin (Aschkenasy), thanks for the 'general' laughter.
Hogan's Heroes. A true 'golden gem' of yesteryear.
A gifted thespian with an even more fascinating personal history.
@@backiniowaswab4106 Aren't they the best. Askin, Banner, Caine and others. So funny given their pasts. The right persons for their characters!
I love this show i tape it every night on me tv it never gets old.
6 years and you still haven't fixed this?❤
Absolutely hilarious !
very wonderfull.....Scott Joplins' music, noted in this generation, from the movie....' The Sting' 1972, thankyou, for memories, .....
the ragtime piano would have been better at 1/2 its current volume, and best entirely absent
Even though all the Germans were bumbling dolts General Burkhalter actually scared me a little. He always was willing and able to really hurt Col. Klink and Col. Hogan. Well played by Leon Askin.
Yep, authentically scary as real WW2 Nazi...
@Robert Allen The show was often criticized for its poor taste by attempting to humorize Nazis. "If you liked WWII, then you'll love Hogan's Heroes."
You weren't thinking straight when you put in that loud background noise.
Leon Askin's Gen Burkhalter. So humorless, yet so humorous.
The piano really gives the video class. 😂
Classic TV gold!
Someone has to either turn down that background music or turn it OFF!
WOW THAT MUSIC SUUURE IS LOUD
The Air Force song on the fiddle-awesome!
"Bet youre ready to blow your lard at me"!😂😂🤣
Great scenes but as usual the poster has to put unnecessary and annoying background music to it. If we wanted to hear the theme from the film the Sting, we would have gone to that.
the mob has spoken.... the music ruined it.
What is it about music overlays? - People just can't seem to help themselves, and make it so loud that it ANNOYS THE SHIT OUT OF US !
Why do RUclips people think they have to dub music over all their videos?
Another good video ruined by music
Caus they think it can make through the copyright
Sounds like another one took the: How to Ruin Your Videos Course.
Hogan's Heroes is comfort ty to me. I have a nightly routine of watching these classic golden shows also, M*A*S*H, Gomer Pyle, Andy Griffith, Green Acres, etc. Leon Askin was absolutely perfect for the role of being Klink's biggest pain in the ass. The entire show was so implausible that doing so made it that much better.
The name of this song is The Entertainer. The classical song from a century. I've saw Klink on some of the guest programs on TV from the 1960s and 1970s. The Informer was the only episode in black and white.
Music gets too loud
Always a nice punctuation as Burkhalter inevidently ends up calling Klink an idiot or dumkoff. Show always worth watching just for the Burkhalter segments. Askin plays the perfect stereo type high ranking German officer. Looks, accent, voice inflection, and facial expressions nailed down terrifically. More amazing (and ironic) is Leon Askin is Jewish.
Dummkopf
@@darlenebuck7825 You gotta be sh___ting me..your gunna nit pick the tinyest Germanic misspelling of an otherwise good overall segment critique of a series shot, please get a life Ms. F__k...and on top of that, I think it's spelled dumekoff, not that I care..
It would be nice to hear the words instead of the music.
This would have been great if it weren't for the dopey music.
"Kleenk!, you eediot!" LOL!!
Think about all those times General Burkhalter wanted to send Klink to the Eastern Front, only to have the prisoners make the buffoon like like a genius.
Loved the video, but the music was very distracting!
To quote Newkirk, "Burkhalter & Klink, my favorite comedy team". Great compilation but you use of the Entertainer as background music was just a bit too loud, if ya'll would accept a bit of constructive criticism from 1 Creator to another.
People who are fans of the show don't need the inducement of "exciting music" to persuade them to watch a compilation of clips.
Music not needed it gets loud in the end
What's the crazy music for makes listening to classic comedy difficult just crazy
Music is too loud and kills it.
Amyzing one of the best comedy's ever great actors
Next time leave out the music. Everything else was great though.
My guess is that this is to keep it from a copyright strike
BRILLIANT!!!!!
the sound overwhelms the dialogue toward the end, nade it hard to watch. Great classic clip nonrtheless, ?Thank you,
great
This comedic gold stands alone. It sure as hell doesn't need the background music to help it. In fact, I couldn't watch because of the lame music. Sorry. Other than that, I appreciate anyone who puts more Hogan's Heroes out there. But holy cow, it stands on its own.
Dude. I am an Emmy award editor and i have to tell tou that your bed music is about 4db too high!. You need to pay attention to audio as well as video. Please adjust and re-edit
Better yet, re-edit it totally and completely OUT!
Would be much better if there wasn't this annoying background music
