Sihanoukville has changed so much. You wouldn't recognize it Geoff! The skyline is full of tall hotels, casinos and shopping malls now.

Yes i have heard the Chinese moved in and ruined it totally, leave small local businesses homeless?
Absolutely disgusting. Not good mate. 👎

@@geoffcarter Otres Beach is still the place to stay in Sihanoukville but not so much the backpacker place anymore. Still cheaper accommodation but they are all being upgraded to more fancy style accommodation.

    Amazing video.
Sadly all those charming little bars and restaurants have now been torn down and replaced with asphalt and skyscrapers 😥
    RIP Otres...

Hehe I was there in February 2015, just missed you. Wow, you really went all out with this video tour of all the beaches and I have done it myself so I know what was involved. I usually spend my days at Serendipity Beach and Ochheuteal Beach 3:50 where the food and drinks are good and cheap too, nice little sunset BarBQ deals all around.

My comment was meant to say Sokha not Sikhs ... Sorry dumb auto correct. Sokha Beach is private, you can swim there if you don't stay at the resort, but there is no selling on the beach (at least not when I was there). Your videos are great, keep them coming:)

Geoff I really can't wait to get to Cambodia, me and my friend are planning a 24 day trip in 2 years around April 2017
( Need to save big time !!! ) - 1 Week in Pattaya, Thailand, then 10 days in Cambodia split between, Phnom Penh, Siam Reap & Sihanoukville & then back to Pattaya for 4 days & finally the last 3 days in Bangkok before we fly back.
Who knows I might bump into you, If I do then it would be my pleasure to get you a Cold Beer & have a chat!!
In the meantime the vids are great and helpful to see what's what!! Cheers M8Y!!

If I were u don't spend your beach days in Thailand. The sand there is quite brownish and not as white as in Cambodia. There are plenty of empty islands off the coast of Cambodia with powder white sand as well. The temples in Cambodia will be on everybody's mind lol.

Tee loeu Well, these guys not traveling there just for the beach alone, Mainly they wanted to be there for prostitution, that's their main goal ,let face the reality here.

You have obviously never been there have you camae62.
I never saw anything seedy while I was there.
Cambodia is not like that at all. All I saw were couples, and backpackers.

    • @RevStickleback
      @RevStickleback 7 лет назад

Prices will be marked in dollars everywhere, even supermarkets and places you'd expect the locals to shop. The ATMs all give out dollars, and usually ONLY dollars.
Any change though, will be in local currency. 4000 Riel to the dollar, and virtually everything you buy will be rounded to the nearest quarter dollar (1000 Riel)
