Yeah exactly, I’ve always thought of it as a substitute for your focus. When you focus you get tunnel vision and “zoom” in which isn’t applicable on a computer screen usually because it doesn’t “click” or that could just be me.

2:50 The zooming is more realistic than not. In any FPS you have to balance FOV and visibility. We play with higher FOV's so we can see more in our immediate surrounding and require the zoom to bring it back to a more natural FOV at range.
@@nannertime It is, you see zoomed in like that but with 180 degree vision. But since you can't have 180 degrees on a screen with things being zoomed out they game lets you solve that problem but having what you'd normally see with reduced fov, and full fov but zoomed out.
Great mods, mostly. I'm not enamoured with making gameplay harder by negating design features meant to bridge the 2D screen virtual environment disconnect. So, no thanks to the ammo/magazine count mod & vision mod. By the way, tracer fire risk only happens in dry conditions (& also real world para flares are a similar high risk). Love your work.
For those watching, you can always open the inventory to count magazines or move your head closer to the screen for "vision zoom" 😂 Thanks for the input. I figured. I could not help but notice these mods generally make the gameplay experience worse
I agree, I wish more large scale games like this had the ability to zoom. No you can't zoom your real vision. But that's because in reality, you're seeing that zoomed resolution all the time with 180 degree field of view. If anything, even with the ability to zoom in, you're still at a disadvantage compared to your real world capabilities. It's one of those things that's not technically realistic, but it bridges the gap between your capabilities in reality and the limitations of viewing the world through a pixel based computer screen.
I know these mods aren't used for the campaign, but I love them and try anyway. Does anyone know which specific mod ruins campaign missions? My issue now is in the first missions, when the helicopter lands to locate the missing convoy, I and one other teammate get out, and then the other two fall to their deaths after the Chopper increases altitude. I can't proceed any further because of this.
No zoom is straight up non sense in this game. Have fun with the eye straining pixel hunting, the zoom is supposed to simulate how you focus in real life

I think it's great that a lot of people have started updating ArmA3 with mods in general, but Bohemia Interactive should actually do that by releasing a new Arma 4 with the Ureal 5.2 engine!!! The custom graphics eNgine BIA are not good enough to design a military simulation game!! The ingredients for this are almost free on the internet!! I hope BIA hears this call for help and does it better next ArmA tiel!!
I think the problem with “too much realism” for example the weapon hitting night vision thing. Is that in real life I don’t plan out every move. If I did that I would intuitively know to fold up my goggles. Not think. Fold goggles. Aim gun. It would be all one motion. Another problem is when you add so many steps it kind of takes away from the game. And can even impair it. Like having to put seatbelts on everytime in a car? Really? Is that something we really want to add? That’s what I mean. I think when people say “realistic” in arma they only care about the big parts. Guns. Bullets. Noises. Enemy deaths. Vehicles. Visual effects. Not seatbelts and google bonking
95% of these mods have very poor quality of code / config, issues, performance loss and not obvious (hidden) game breaking bugs. Keep it in mind when you mod your game. If you can't understand and analyze what exactly the mod does with the game, be prepared for the problems caused by the "ArmA magic".

Zooming in game without looking through scope is compensation for not being immersed in the real world.

hahaha true. I can say from personal experience that real life rifle shooting 30-50 yards feels like pixel hunting. unless you have a 2x or a 4x scope

That compass is from MCC.
MCC is full of bloat, so the nanner A3R profile turns everything off except for that compass

Yes MCC4. The compass is in the Addon Options. I think its MCC User Interface. It comes pre-configured in the nanner A3R profile, too.
