The genius of that "Access to webcam denied" error cannot go understated, because you couldn't tell if the game tried to access it and was actually blocked. At the time, the concept of a game doing that was HORRIFYING. It's kind of a staple of the "self-aware game" genre now, but then we were just starting to dabble with that level of stuff.
ngl I think what makes EYX special in my eyes (no pun intended) is the theme surrounded around EYX’s most defining feature: his eye, the amount of scares that show characters with hollowed eyes with white pupils as well as the shapes of them that kinda adds to its “Ommetaphobia” is astounding and it adds to its theme more. sure they add some scares that show creepy faces, but they’re all accompanied with horrific looking eyes that feel like they stare deep into your soul. It’s also a nice jab at the weird sonic artstyle where for some reason in most official artwork, sonic’s eyes are interconnected.
EYX is sort of an anti-exe imo. It plays up/with the format you're familiar with, & it is out to draw you in. You're as captivated by it, as it is captivated by you.
If I remember correctly, the reason why EYX is trying to log into your wifi and turn on your camera is because they came from a cult that worships this said entity that now haunts this very game. So in a way, the cult is trying to track you down and possibly sacrifice you to the deity/make you a apart of it. I maybe wrong though since the game's story is being reworked.
Few things you missed to mention or probably forgot During the Ray chase segment, the top left area where it displays Rings, Time, and Score constantly changes as Ray desperately tried to communicate with the player, also before the update, Ray's chase segment was played out differently, I think he dies as soon as he's caught During the end of the level, the reason why Metal "chases" you was because he wanted the chaos emerald that was there, it was red and that's why you hear the chime In act 2 if you slow down the footage when sonic looks into the distance, before the update, it was the eyeless tails you saw during the void segment with sonic, after the update, it's now the creepy looking Amy And in the end when you play as tails, there's a bloody Eggman symbol on the ground as you're walking, once you reach it, go back to the start for a secret, I don't remember what it was

I never really cared for EYX even when he was first introduced but I did see some potential in the character, I’m honestly excited for what they have planned for the future. Edit: Might I add that if I’m not mistaken, his entire thing is that he would just dox people; spreading their personal information to random people.
It is in fact quite forgettable, because it offers nothing particularly special or interesting, it's a definition of "random bullshit go" game, and there were games that broke 4th wall in much more creative and engaging ways than this. Doesn't help that it's core it's still the same JC crappypasta, just with more freaky Sonic design
