He's so right. I have also progressive MS and HAVE been in a wheelchair, and the doctors told me i'll never walk again, but I refused to give up. I took my time and fought and now I'm walking again. I have bad balance and I broke both of my legs several times because of my MS. But I fight and I don't need the wheelchair. It may take a whole lot more for people with MS to achieve their goals but in the end it will be worth it. For a doctor to say something like that the first time a patient visit, that doctor should consider another job!

canyohandleth1s you should read Dr Terry Wahl’s book on how she treated her MS through diet and exercise. She has videos on youtube as well.

I love his attitude! His comment on needing a wheelchair where he said "If I need one, I'll get spinners" makes me chuckle, but if just shows how positive he is about the disease.

The docs are the same in the UK. I took control away from the doctor, did kind of what Montel Did. Still walking, still working!

Everything he is saying is so true! I’m glad I’ve heard finally somebody who put their faith in God going through this disease. I just got diagnosed about five months ago with relapsing remitting MS and I’m gonna continue fighting and putting all my faith in my hands in God.

That is absolutely amazing I too have relapsing remitting MS. I was also told I should have been in a wheelchair by now but it's been over 10 years and I'm still walking and talking and doing what I want to do when I want to do it. But he is so right if I can be honest I sometimes struggle with different things to eat and you know because it's sometimes it's the taste you know you don't want the the taste of whatever it is that you're eating you want it to be good so I sometimes struggle with that but I will say that I am pushing along slowly but surely and also to my spouse if it wasn't for him I probably would have been in a wheelchair the first 2 years and who knows where I would have been then so I give a lot of kudos to my spouse he has been there in and out through up and down thick and thin so I can appreciate that and I know everyone does not have that and everyone is not self-motivated like myself. I like it

Diagnosed in 1994. Doctors say Ocrevus is the only option that may help. It cost 2 Toyota Rav4's per year, to try something that trials have not proven substantially helps. I declined to play their game. "Pig in a Poke", and "Snake Oil" reverberate in my head. What do you think? According to the internet, the treatment costs about $40 per dose in Australia.

@@andreawalker8330 Hey Andrea, I focus on these fundamentals of health first (along with any medications your dr gives you). 1) Sleep : get high quality 7-9 hours of sleep everyday. No tech 1 hour before bed. Mediate/journal before bed. Do some stretching. Dim lights. Eat/exercise at the same time daily. Get consistent bed time schedule. Get sun exposure if possible first thing in the morning. Can try magnesium/chamomile tea / melatonin for sleep aid or even meds. 2) Exercise if possible. If you can only walk 5-10 mins do that. If you can’t, do some gentle stretching routine daily.
      3) Nutrition: Focus on eating Whole Foods. Like chicken, grass fed beef, wild salmon, liver. Protein and veggies, healthy carbs and fats. Probiotic rich foods. Limit the sodas, juice, cakes, sweets, fast food, vegetable oils (sunflower oil, canola oil) use olive oil, avocado/coconut oil instead. Get drink. Half your body weight of water approximately.
      4) stress management: mediate daily, journaling can help, if possible get out in nature, find things to do that you can do and really enjoy and makes you happy. Set boundaries with loved ones.
      5) Supplement with vitamins/minerals you deficient in. A dr can order these nutrient blood test. Like vitamin D, Vit B’s, magnesium, iron, selenium, omega 3.
      6) Get morning cool sun exposure (10-20 mins) very important for MS patients.
      7) maintain a healthy, positive mindset. Your mental state 100% affects your body. Don’t believe every negative thought you get. Question them, ask yourself if that’s really true. If worried, journal all of them on paper. If possible consider mental health therapy. Live day by day. Don’t worry about your health tomorrow or in 10 mins. Baby steps. Trust that your body’s capable of healing, your body is not against you, it wants you to be healthy and happy. Trust that you will get better because you can.
