I love how Marquis figures things out in tactician ways. Lianfang had never figured out nor understood that Marquis will never truly let things go until he learns truth of matters to his own satisfaction in defense of himself, Shiyi, his children and Xu family with herself and other forced concubines not included. Then , prejudice Grand Madame is being forced to accept Marquis's lawful legal wife Shiyi who should had been respected , honored and welcomed in the first place since Grand Madame is always throwing about Xu's family customs and strict rules towards Marquis and Shiyi all the time. Grand Madame is self righteous holie than thou judgemental prejudiced double standard hypocrite towards Shiyi and Marquis when comes to herself and Lianfang who had deliberately chosen to be concubine on purpose that is not fault of Shiyi.
He's a military man so of course he's not going to just easily accept what's right in front of his eyes. Lianfang made a huge mistake when she went after Shiyi/had her kidnapped. When she pretended to care about retrieving Shiyi that was a dead giveaway that something was off. She's selfish by nature/there is no way that she would EVER be considerate of someone else especially Shiyi. Her second mistake was going after his son. She thought he was as gullible as his mother so she assumed she could act all innocent/he would buy it. She was sorely mistaken. I agree. The GM is a hypocrite. She tried so hard to force Lingyi to accept Lianfang while treating Shiyi like crap. She's so quick to tote out the family rules but somehow those rules never apply to Lianfang. It's the very reason why Lianfang was able to cause trouble within the family.
General Fu is the man. He is forever sticking his foot in his mouth but he knows how to get out of trouble especially when Lingyi is threatening him with marriage. I'm so glad that they are investigating Zhun's illness. The GM tried to halt the investigation because she wanted to protect Lianfang but he isn't going to let it go. He's a military man/he will find out the truth no matter what it takes. General Fu was right if it wasn't for Shiyi's resourcefulness they would've never found out the truth. She literally risked everything to find out the truth. The GM is such a hypocrite. She put Lianfang in charge of Zhun's care/she has ZERO experience raising a child but someone it's a problem when it comes to Shiyi. Lingyi knows that Lianfang deliberately harmed his son/he wants Zhun as far away from her as possible. He isn't going to risk Zhun's life by leaving him in the care of the one person who harmed him. The GM is blinded by her beliefs that she can't see what's right in front of her eyes. Lianfang is playing her like a fiddle. I was so happy when Lingyi called out Lianfang's so called help. He isn't buying her little innocent act. Lianfang realizing that all of her schemes has helped Shiyi is priceless. She's been working really hard to catch Lingyi's eye so he can see her in a new light only to fail at every turn. The best part is all of her scheming is giving Lingyi a chance to see her in a new light so her plan actually worked just not for her...lol
I like to believe that lingfang did not purposely harm zhun. How would she have known about the pathogen and that zhun was sensitive to it. Her scheming always seem to be at a child’s play level except the whole elder sister which honestly seems out of character than what was presented.
@@pengdubit she knew that it would harm him...when Shiyi/Lingyi finally exposed all of her schemes....the person who gave her the puppy confessed that Lianfang knew the puppy would infect anyone that was in close contact with it. She didn't care about Zhun's safety...she only cared about using his illness to her advantage. She thought that Lingyi would view her differently when he saw her taking care of his son...but her plan backfired because Lingyi put Shiyi in charge of Zhun's care....so without having access to Zhun she was no longer able to pretend to be a caring mother figure towards him. Lingyi never trusted Lianfang to begin with so he wasn't going to let her care for his son.
Why would you say he's an ignorant husband? He was very aware, but in those days, if you completely ignored the Matron (his mother) wishes, the scholars and ministers would cry shame and you would have to answer to the Emperor. He had to do things carefully.
