A couple short (shortened) clips of the Hwy 36/3 run on asphalt toward Hayfork, but focusing on the aborted attempt to make it through to Junction City via Big Creek Road instead of taking Hwy 3.
The nithe Ossifer we asked said "Well, in the summer it's a shortcut..."
This wasn't in summer. This is winter. We were stymied (once again) by snow.
Who's brilliant idea was it to have a snow trip in the middle of winter, anyway?
Still watching beautifully vw bus, watching from apartment in west java java island Indonesia
Thanks for your comment ... appreciate your enthusiasm from across the world!
Love this! Imagine what those VW could do with a set of snow chains. My 96 suburban 2wd has a 42 gallon tank behind the rear axle. With my tire chains and my g80 locker that old truck plows thru snow.
Well then, you'll love the other Shasta Snow Trip videos ... many have buses with chains. And open diffs, to boot! Carryiong snow chains as well as having the practised ability to use them was a requirement for attendance on these trips.
I am Brazilian and I really like this vw bus vehicle. Here in Brazil this vehicle is called " Kombi " and was manufactured by the year 2014. I travel a lot in my VW Bus. My respect for you guys SST . It would be wonderful travel vw bus here from Brazil to Alaska .
guys look like you have a great group every time i see 1 of your Videos.
bravo young people having fun and helping each other. better than us old farts stuck at home watching tv.

✌🤪✌. -From kindred spirits in the Alaskan Interior.
Haha. We are, and we will be. Always. Cheers from Southeast Alaska!
2:45......You do realize the engine is in the rear?
Sou do Brasil. Sonho em comprar uma kombe e ir ao Alasca.
much fun
i miss my splitwindow
Awesome!
damn! now I wish I wasn't restoring the body on my 66, it jacked up and everything! just a single port but I can go anywhere in 2nd gear! im going paint it like a hippy bus from wppdtock, nbut have nice paint and murals
8 years ago and now your probably mostly settled down with families.
No more smoking 😏. Looked dicey but fun. Cant you get snow tires to fit vw buses/campers AND bugs ?
Well actually a lot of those hooligans are still at it .. the SST this year looked really fun. You can be adventurer AND be with family! (new technology?) Yes, of course .. same snow tires. But this is a buses-only trip. Specifically '67 and back buses trip. Not because any other vehicle is better or worse, but because it's a style thing, and makes the trip more special for those who choose to enjoy it as such.
@@Mizamook ✌from a bug owner
@@snugbug5067 In fact I've had what, 4 bugs in my time, and would be thrilled to have another! So cheers! (I want my sea blue '65 back!!!)
@@Mizamook that's a nice year. I've had 3. Two 74sb and a 68 or a 70 ?
I love the current one (74 super). I wouldnt go anywhere without it 😉.
Theres plenty of them lurking. Hope you find another one.
@@snugbug5067 Not so likely here in Gustavus, AK! But man you shoulda seen the primo red '64 all stock beetle that I saw in Haines a couple years ago. I talked to the driver, who had just come off the ferry from Juneau with it, and was heading up to Fairbanks where they lived.. I think they got it for $400 via Craigslist. CRAZY.
Wish I was there.
muito bom
I know these are old but still awesome to watch! I love my bay but would love to own a split to do this. Do you still participate each year? Isn't it coming up soon too?
