@@jason_paulin true, i thought the same before i started working here, but the repetition quickly starts to wear on your back, elbows, and wrists. i do cycle count which has me scanning items all day in a bin. i have to pull them out, place them in a bin to my left which is low af, pull them out and play tetris to stack them back in the box. some of the items are up to 49 lbs, that wears on you quick. i'm constantly twisting my back in the same motion all day and now a nerve is pinched. those repetitive motions add up quick, 10 hours of the same thing is gonna wreck your body eventually

Stow and picking is so easy and also a quick come up. Amazon has good benefits, you can pickup shifts when you want as long as it’s available and you are trained, plus you have access to your money everyday. The standing and walking your body gets used to but if you think this is hard retail or fast food might be good for you. This job is definitely not for the weak or lazy

Imagine doing the same thing in older times, you get a box, you make a box(fold and insert four corners of one side to make a base), throw in styrofoam cushioning, put item in box, then you get a masking gun and tape lid shut, you wait for a machine taking its time to print out tag, and then put the ready box on the conveyer.

I worked for a logistics service that contracted with Amazon to deliver their freight to post offices in surrounding areas, I believe it was within a 500 hundred mile radius. My route was pretty simple, 300 mile round trip at first it was only one stop and eventually turned into two stops. The region I did this in, every postal worker hated Amazon. I understood why, knowing the volume of packages most of the destinations received. Before we even loaded our trucks for our routes, we had to unload all the freight from the trailers. If we had six trailers to unload, that was about 300 pallets and most of the pallets averaged 6 ft in height. Busier times when they have their sales, it was a shit show.

Everybody there gets paid the same amount of money regardless of how fast you go. She could realistically go half that speed and still wouldn't have to worry about any write ups.

I did this back in 2016 during peak season. Your days actually fly by, just get out of your head. Too many people stuck on complaining when you can lose yourself in the work just as easily. Makes your days feel like minutes sometimes. I would have break periods come up where I had been working for 2.5 hours, and it literally felt like 10 minutes. It's all about your mindset. The only thing you're a slave to is your own bad attitude.
Also, the small items single pack line is a lot of fun, quota there was like 400items per hour. It was the only work path where I couldn't do like double the quota.
I see ppl Putting the spoo on their hand. And every second counts towrds rate. In my opinion, if u scann the spoo already, why stick it ur hand when u can just stick it on the box? It requires one extra step and therefore slows u down.
I got put in pack morning shift when I applied for receive (I use to work receive at night but wanted mornings) and I kid you not, it is IMPOSSIBLE to work at this pace! The warehouse I work at is humid asF, employees have to slow down to catch themselves before fainting and or get some water in them, and my manager is CONSTANTLY on my back about not being able to scan a box every 60's and pack 60 boxes in less than 1 hour. All I want is my old position back 😢😭

Every Amazon is different. We packed from metal cages that had cat litter, 40 lbs of Dog Food and some heavy items. This look better. We had to get our boxes too. Very long day😲 Sometimes we have to walk and get our cages to pack that's not right. Do t have enough people 😡 that we take to long to get boxes to pack with. You have to get everything!

No it messes up sometimes like after you put in a new roll of tape sometimes the length is incorrect. And then you have to manually press the correct letter each time for each box. That is a real pain in the ass and slows down rate.

When I worked at Amazon if they force me to be labor-shared to pack, singles was the only place I'd want to go. Boring but casual work. Just busy enough to make time pass. Regular pack department with multiple items was a zoo.
@@NYmech I remember hearing about people messing up their wrists from doing those jobs. Every job there messes you up one way or another. Ship dock was most physical but it wasn't labor tracked so you could slow down and take it easy sometimes if it wasn't busy. Go sneak a coffee.
Shit this is easy. Everything is done for you pretty much. When I did shipping for a hardware company you have to do everything to packing it good so nothing moves then use tape guns then use software to create labels amd move everything yourself.
Isn't that sorting department as don't fulfillment workers load and drive power industrial equipment as well as be on equipment that goes up? Unless they have different side for the fulfillment department that only does what she doing.
Make sure you guys are putting fragile stickers on your glass boxs! Understand you gott work at steady speed but small item should be wrapped in paper to prevent cosmetic damage as well

My best advice is to come to work with a good meal in your stomach, bring a nourishing snack like good fruit, granola, yogurt and bring a decent sized lunch, I bring turkey or ham sandwiches with lettuce, mayo and cheese for example. Good luck my friend and by the way we have the same last name lol

I know how you feel, that was always my situation when I first started. I can only recommend a rhythm with quality of the package. A well packed box in my eyes is greater than a quick one. Keep going, Good luck
They say AirPods or headphones are not allowed but the way I understand that is you are not allowed to have both head phones in at once because it actually is a safety hazard. Keeping one in shouldn’t be a problem

Why not place the spoo on the box to begin. As long as you dont cover the bar code completely from left to right, the scanner can read the spoo.

Don’t put the spoo label on your globe. Immediately just put it on the box and then apply the tape. As long as the barcode is visible you’re good. You’re wasting time with your method

Thats whst I do and tgey saying that i am only packing at a rate of 28 per per hr. Im doibg exactly what she doing and practly throwing packages on the convayer belt but still my numbers are at onkyv28 her hr???
I know how you feel, that was always my situation when I first started. I can only recommend a rhythm with quality of the package. A well packed box in my eyes is greater than a quick one. Keep going, Good luck

She isn't even going that fast. She has a very good pace. If she goes faster they will expect that type of speed from her all the time.
I pack on singles that's slow AF.

I just got transferred to this job, do they let you use headphones... ear buds ?
They say AirPods or headphones are not allowed but the way I understand that is you are not allowed to have both head phones in at once because it actually is a safety hazard. Keeping one in shouldn’t be a problem
