  • Handbell Introit: Fanfare Jubilee (excerpt). Jason Krug.
This Sunday, July 14 in Worship
"Roots and Branches: Judaism and Christianity"
Discover the deep historical and spiritual connections between Judaism and Christianity, exploring shared traditions and divergent paths. This sermon will highlight the common roots in the Hebrew Scriptures while respecting the unique aspects of Jewish belief and practice.
This Sunday we will feature our Bay Shore Bells in the worship service. Our bell choir will be playing the introit as well as the anthem on our five octaves of Schulmerich handbells. An exciting excerpt from Jason Krug’s Fanfare Jubilee will be our introit, and Mathew Compton’s Exultation filled with rhythmic challenge and bell effects will provide an exuberant anthem. Thompson Howell will be our guest organist this Sunday providing music throughout the service, and our Chancel Choir will sing John Ness Beck’s Consecration with lyrics that ask God to use our hands, our feet, our voice, our heart, and all of our time, talents and treasures for praise and service, all to the glory of God. Fitting this Sunday’s focus on Judaism and Christianity, all our hymns were inspired by or are sung in both Jewish synagogues and Christian churches. And you’ll join in the song! Come this Sunday ready to share in the joy of our shared traditions.
