      One of the great things about paramotoring is the variety of flight styles that you can do. It can be as peaceful as sitting in a chair on the porch watching the sunrise or sunset, except at altitude. It can also be as challenging as you want to make it with XC, acro, slalom, etc. Even working on the basic skills such as precision launches and landings is fun. There's also the freedom to take-off from places other than airports, and on your own schedule!

    I'm surprised paramotors are still largely unknown, it's the coolest thing ever. You can basically FLY with a device that costs a few thousand dollars, and it's not as hard as learning how to fly a plane or helicoptor. I guess the only limiting thing is where you live and if you have open fields like this.

  • @timogeerties3487
    @timogeerties3487 Месяц назад

    A lot stricter here in Germany. You cannot simply start or land anywhere you want, no matter how spacious. You need a license and an official airfield or private meadow that has been licensed under strict conditions with annual/semiannual renewal, as well as a semiannual inspection for your wing. A reserve parachute is mandatory, as well as radio for any potential flight control checks. And you need to be strictly aware about the abundant no-fly and restriction zones in the area you want to fly in.
    EDIT: speaking of privately owned meadows, in most german states, you won't get them licensed even if you fulfill all the requirements as the states won't permit it. And the airfields rarely tolerate paragliders

      @Logan4661 7 месяцев назад +1

      First, your question refers to paragliding (PG), not paramotoring or powered paragliding (PPG), which is a very different sport than shown in the video. That out of the way, "can you train in the city or do you need a wide open space?" Yes, you can do some training in the city, if you have a wide open space, like a park. With enough room away from people and objects to move, and a clear path for the wind (trees and buildings cause turbulence) you could work on your kiting skills and equipment care. I would recommend going to a school for whichever sport you are interested in. As you learn the skills you will get a good idea of what makes for a good training area, and what doesn't, and then decide if the area you have in mind is appropriate. At school you should be using their equipment, so it's a try before you buy situation. Worst case scenario, it's a fun vacation!

      Ultralights (including trikes) are limited to a single occupant according to FAR Part 103. The only exception is for certified instructors giving a discovery flight. If you would like to take a passenger, then you will want to look at other aircraft such as a powered parachutes (which will require a sport pilot license and N-number). I am not sure of the cost of license and certification of light sport aircraft.

      You might be right. But I have to say that it is nice to throw my aircraft in the trunk of my car and launch from a park.

      That's true, but it's also nice to take off from my 50 ft drive way. Either way, we both having a good time.

      @@ClaytonBigsby01 Well then you sound pretty stupid and misinformed. I fly a quicksilver MX Ultralight plane. Single seat. 65mph airspeed. Takes literally 50 ft to take off and land. And yes, you don't need a license, and you can take off from your private property. Iv done it for a few years now. You can get a used one for about 10k. Still need to follow FAA rules in the air of course.

    Mountains bad? Seems like everyone is doing it in farm land.

    • @ParamotorNC
      @ParamotorNC  10 месяцев назад

      Flying near the mountains is beautiful. However, wind moving over mountainous terrain can result in more turbulent conditions than the same wind over flat land. So we are cautious near mountains while flying. Also, farm land tends to provide more land-able options in case the motor stops running (we would glide down safely).

    It’s the worst idea to fly one of these without proper instruction. It’s definitely more dangerous than an airplane.

    How far can you go on a tank of gas?😮

    • @ParamotorNC
      @ParamotorNC  11 месяцев назад +3

      It depends on your rig and the wind. I estimate that mine can go 75 miles in 3 hours on a tank of gas (with little or no wind).
