Toon fan here, I’ve got to say I think Wolves played quite well tonight and with a bit more luck could have nicked a couple of goals. I do agree with your assessment that the Wolves defence went missing for 2 of our goals. It was always going to be a tough game considering how Newcastle have been playing especially at home. I genuinely think that Wolves will be ok.
Good of you to say, but we're going to have to rely on teams around us to keep losing for us to stay up as I can't see us getting anything next 5 matches. I can't see us sneaking a few points but other teams in relegation zone will probably manage to do it. All the best.

Newcastle were a league ahead of us, defending was poor and couldn't finish. we need a striker and another defender to stay up, it's reachable but still dour looking at the table. I think we will survive just.

That apart our defence gave up 5 shots on target to their 7 so we matched them there. Midfield worked their socks off creating 7 clear cut chances. Our problem in the last three games (and more) is our woeful attack (Cunha apart). Two goals at Bristol scored by defenders. Forest & Last night we created at least five clear gilt edged chances our incompetent forwards failed to convert.

Can't believe Hwang started to be honest he did score goals for us last season but he's just so one paced and falls over to easy looking for a free kick instead of standing up. As for larsen I've had issues with him since he came he just falls back instead of getting hold of the ball he's a big lad but lacks strength and now he's missing a lot of good chances. I still think we can stay up but it's going to the wire I'm just glad there are teams around us in the same boat.

We need a team clear out by the looks of things and filter the ones who want to play for us and discard the ones who don't. Jose Sa is my man of the match because the defence was so poor he had his work cut out and it could have easily been 6 or 7 for Newcastle. Not much positive to say Dave apart from the opening few minutes. After that I thought a time machine had transported me to a recent GON match. I think the new manager bounce is well and truly over now and the players either put more effort and improve their fitness or we're going down.

@AlwaysWolves I'm talking of the likes of Channy and Lemina, only the players who seem to have lost their passion for the club based on their lacklustre performances. Our players are either committed to being Wolves players or not. I'd prefer to see players on the pitch who care long term about the club and not ones who only care about using the club as a stepping stone and are secretly or not looking to exit as soon as they can. I thought Guedes was going down that route but he's turned his attitude around, and it shows, which is what we need Dave, players like that.
The problems at Wolves go deeper than who is the manager. Vito Perreira started well but the same problems are resurfacing. I fear that Wolves will go down, two seasons ago Wolves were lucky to survive but there were more than three teams worse than Wolves. More signings are essential and the players need to improve

Your striker had more than 2/3rds of an empty goal to his left to aim at but he passed the ball straight to Dúbravka. I couldn't believe it! The one positive to take away from the game is that Wolves are still creating some very good chances and with a better striker it could have easily been 3 - 3. A decent forward and a defender could save your season.

Newcastle are a very good team, full of confidence,excellent manager, i knew we would struggle at fortress Newcastle, sometimes it takes a new manager to come and get management to listen to him, we do need a bit of rebuilding in the team, so it’s going to be quite difficult climbing up the table

Really struggle to watch Larsen tbh, so slow can’t hold the ball up and doesn’t even use his physical strength to his advantage. As for Hwang, just not good enough and never has been. The defence will take the flack but attack was poor. As for Lemina refusing to play, he has been a disgrace and has contributed to a lot of issues this season. See ya later Mario.

Spot on Craig and Lewis. Very worried that our best player was left on the bench for half the game and worried the he keeps bringing Sarabia back on. Agbadou I liked and Sa was very good tonight. Their second goal looked like GON was back for gods sake. Still no Tommy Doyle to be creative. There are many problems and I hope Vitor starts doing more. The cheque books needs to come out because this is a relegation team right now. Doc was great again, solid player. Performance can only do a 5. Sa was my MOTM tonight and when he came and played that ball through to set up Larson who missed. Gaffer better get his poo together because |I'm worried.

Our back three were strangers tonight , pretty disorganised but they havent played together in the top flight, we need to remember no Dawson, no Totti , Semado just back. Need to be a bit realistic, will improve. Yes Larson got bullied but thier centre backs are monsters and he got little or no support. On another night he'd still have 2 or even three goals. Bit unlucky tonight. He's a good player though, look at his stats for us already and its early days for him but without Cunha he"s asked to do to much. Next month will be very tough and Fans need to stay with them.

This was not a nice viewing tonight for us where you can see where the mistakes are in the team against a team playing with confidence scoring and outplaying us. We needed to be more clinical in our finishing that is one problem and also the other problem the defending where in parts we were good and other parts poor so these need to be addressed but we have a tough run in to come and where are the next points coming is the question now and now we have a player wanting to leave because of mental issues this has to be nipped in the bud before it spreads but we wait and see.

Hwang's mistake for the first goal very poor, and both goals in the second half both Isak and Gordan had the freedom of St James Park, we are shocking defensively and now we have stopped scoring goals, it's a recipe for disaster and relegation

That second goal totally killed us and the defending at that moment was just shocking. I agree about the finishing but you missed out Sarabia who had the two clearest chances of all and didn't look bothered at all when he missed.

Jose Sa motm made some excellent saves not at fault for any of their goals. Agabadou looks to be just what has been needed at the back would love to see him in the centre of the three. Thought we lost the game in midfield due to numbers but never expected a positive result up there. Hard few games to come so lets hope for a bit of luck and maybe something will click.

I know we are conceding goals but rhag is mostly because we are not scoring them. If we were to have more potency in attavk, teams wouldnt be able to press us so hard and often if they were threatened by whats up top.

We’ve not been good enough Dave. In order to survive we need a concerted effort and performances for us to have a chance. We can’t afford to have one or two players turning up, we need decent team performances from now till the end of the season.

Craig i dont know what the hell you are watching suggesting the defending was good. It was horrific, weve conceded the most goals in the league and the type of goals are horrendous. Doherty for that second is unfathomably poor and so is the whole backline for the third. We started the season with 4 cbs, two of which toti and bueno can only play in a 5 at best, and Dawson whose over the hill. It cost a combined 15m, Ipswich and Southampton spent more than that on just one cb. We sold 65m worth of cbs in kilman and collins the owners have to go jeff shi doesnt know anything about football. We are now entering the next half of the season with only 2 fit cbs being agbadou and bueno, it's a disgrace. Shi shouldnt be allowed in mol till he signs at least 2 more CBs.
The hate for hwang is ridiculous too the guy is a half decent no9 of course hes poor from outwide but what are you actually expecting? Hes barely featured this season because of larsen and now he's the scapegoat. Larsen was the attacker who deserved the most stick from that game 90 minutes of looking like a baby giraffe trying to hold it up and missed chances.

@@Theexcellorator64 just add another point - Wolves defence gave up 5 goal scoring opportunities yet NUFC gave up 7 opportunities, and our defence was rubbish? On stats alone we defended. Better than the opposition. We gave two really awful goals away so I get people are upset but overall they did well. Our forwards lost us that game backed up by all the stats you want to see.

I don't agree with the fella on the left who says Wolves defended well. For the first goal Isak picked the ball up wide left in acres of space and carried the ball across the front of the penalty area before scoring. The second goal was some of the worst defending seen at SJP in years. Wolves go to sleep from a throw in. Bruno simple pass to Isak unmarked in the box. Ludicrously easy goal bearing in mind three centre backs on pitch for Wolves and not one of them was near Newcastle's one centre forward. Wolves a bit unlucky with finishing. Would normally score based on those chances and also disallowed goal plus hit the woodwork twice, but Wolves defending was woeful.

Totally unacceptable depressing performance and after the first 3 games under Vitor where it looked there was light at the end of the tunnel the players have dropped that standard already
Firstly no other club would play hwang again and again it's ridiculous has Vitor been told by Shi he has to play him? What must players like Doyle think who was criticisied and dropped while we are told to show some love to hwang and of course he's taken off half time

When you get the defence and forwards playing so badly there's only one outcome and it was shameful. Leaving Isak that much space for his 2nd goal was one of the most embarrassing goals I've ever seen it's schoolboy stuff
Upfront we were so weak Larson apart from the goal at Spurs has lately been like a lump of lard so slow to react can't hold the ball up missing open goals so lightweight for a big guy really needs to be more physical so we definitely need a goalscoring forward if Shi pulls his finger out and how many defenders to make this a strong defence
A lot of these players are shrinking violets and not nearly good enough and do they know that you've got a better chance of scoring if you don't shoot or head the ball straight at the keeper
I give them 4 out of ten (generous) and no man of the match as no one stands out!

I’m a Newcastle fan but I honestly don’t think you lot have too much to worry about in terms of relegation.You played well in patches and 3-2 would have been a much fairer score line.I’ve always liked Cunha and I know a lot of the home fans were relieved when he wasn’t in the starting line up.
