Hey HBS,
The square hole in the anvil is in case of the option to add special small inserts to the anvil.
For example to beat metal into other forms like half hollow spheres for a ladle or the upper part of a lamp from oseberg burial or a shield boss. (the round metal thing in the middle of a viking shield)
I really like the plumbata and the hat for the jester.

I find that some of there WW2 helmets work really well as medieval kettle helms if you order them in gun metal.
