Well, it's obvious, isn't it. Star Wars, along with its 6 main movies, 3 side movies, a whole non canon trilogy, multiple animated series, and much more, is one of the most popular media franchises ever.
Believe me, seeing one of these minifigures in real life and still not being able to have it hurts on another level. Someone found a mr gold less than an hour before I got to a lego store late one day and I could see it with my own eyes, but never found it myself. That memory haunts me since I still want one so badly
I would love to see a video of the most valuable minifigs that aren't exclusives (i.e. the most valuable figures that showed up in normal sets that you could just buy). I do wonder if the rare figures from the first Cloud City set would appear on that list or if there are things that are even rarer...
I do wonder about the actual value. The thing about some of the one of a kind figures is that they get so few sales to actually get a good feel for the value. Just because someone pays a billion dollars for a minifigure doesn't make it a billion dollar minifigure. It just means that a fool and their money are soon parted.
I know it's not lego but scalextric used to do clear cars which I believe were named Crystal classics and they looked cool so I imagine a lego figure would look awesome

The George Lucas minifig wasn't at Star Wars Weekends, but rather the similarly named Star Wars Weekend event at Legoland California in 2010. And it wasn't made for display either, they just simply HAD one on display. The only way people get one is if you're selected as a Lego Star Wars fan to get one right from Billund. Lego has confirmed the remaining samples of them are kept under close guard in an employee's desk drawer and are STILL only given out on special occasions.
I dont even collect lego with a strong insentive to sought after the expensive ones but knowing that theres tons of rare Lego minifigures and you will never own any of them still hurts

People in Summer 2013: Frantically searching for Mr. Gold Lego, knowing releasing 5K of him would drastically increase sales of the Minifigures packs: *Sometimes my genius is...it's almost frightening* Seriously, that was a smart tactic they did and I'm glad they did that because it definitely got me into collecting them. Series 10 in general was pretty bad, but Lego didn't disappoint now that they had all these people when they released Series 11. Yeti, Gingerbread Man, Pretzel Girl, Holiday Elf, Island Warrior, Scarecrow, Grandma, definitely a phenomenal series
An Honorable mention for anyone who reads this; is LEGO Spider-Man Tobey Maguire version. And also all of the other Minifigswith those sets from Green Goblin to Aunt May, based off the first Spider-Man Movie and on, I’d say these are pretty valuable.
Lego has sent multiple figures to space on Nasa probes and shuttles. The first one I found was sending figures of Juno, Jupiter, and Galileo on the Juno spacecraft. They won't come back to Earth though. Once the probe's mission is done, NASA plans to take it out of orbit and crash it into the planet's surface.

Did you know the lego set "temple of celebration", and only 6 sets were EVER made, it included the 7 golden ninja. All 7 of them together were worth 600£. Somehow Generic Stud got the *entire* set for 200£.

My favorite is the golden C-3PO because it is very very highly accurate to the actual C-3PO due to him canonically having gold plating, and yes... I would buy it if I had enough money♡

I don’t know if I had a fake or real one, but I had the Captain America and Iron Man. My dad got them for me when I was a little girl because I love putting things together. He also got me a bunch of other marvel characters (so they probably custom made rather than actual ones).
In order to be valuable, there has to be an actual recorded sale. Most of the figures sent into space aren't coming back to Earth, so they can't be resold. The figures on the Juno spacecraft will probably be destroyed when they crash the probe into Jupiter in 2025.
The gold price for one of gold minifigs would actually be around 1900 dollars. I think you might have made your calculation with 24k gold instead of 14k
There’s just no way anyone pays so much money for prototypes. I can only imagine how easy they are to duplicate. For example, the two George Lucas minifigures pictures are different; pay attention to the stripes. As for the orange C3PO, just imagine if someone got hold of a mold and printed a dozen. It just doesn’t make sense. Not a con exclusive, not a limited giveaway, not made of precious metal. Simply unofficial and extremely replicable.

I have a friend who unpacked a Mr. Gold. It was his first pack that he bought for fun after getting birthday presents for his son. He still have it displayed at home.

No, not really, for example, The Sterling silver Lego Skeleton Keychain has never been sold but is estimated to be worth about 12,000 USD

I have a friend who unpacked a Mr. Gold. It was his first pack that he bought for fun after getting birthday presents for his son. He still have it displayed at home.

I think it’s funny that people can sell each part of the minifigs separately down to even the hands on Brinklink and stuff, like just the head for $300.
