Of course, there is this too, but since the Sims 4 has a crappy game engine, when you change the type of beachfront lots to residential rental, the game does not detect that there is water there and the sims can walk in the water. The person who made this is a modder named zerbu.

@@JRenee141 Frankly, I do not find this reason legimitate. After all, it is not the consumers' problem that the game keeps its budget so low in 2014 and causes such problems. It is said that there is such a problem in the game engine because the game was designed online from the beginning, but I do not see this as a legit reason. Project Rene is designing with online features and it already has a much larger budget than the production of Sims 4. This game is technically a disaster and they made so much money from it that I'm surprised. The reason why none of the incoming packs fully meets expectations is the terrible engine of the game. I'm even surprised at how this game is presented as a main sims game with this engine.

I am a huge lover of storytelling in the sims and I feel like the secrets were such a missed gameplay feature (for non builders). *** I don't know how coding works but this is what I think they should/could have done *** 1) Juicier secrets like "oh I saw the neighboor from unit 1 come out of unit 2 late at night". A sim with the gluton trait could be like "I have eaten from the trash" and if you were playing a gluton sim and you perfom that action, then the secret will show up in your panel and maybe you could have the option to confess it to like your best friend and they'd laugh and get a sentiment of becoming closer for sharing embarassing secrets. If you were snopping on someone maybe you could find out like "oh this sim is dating this other sim". I wish they were related to traits and the lives of the sims. 2) Actually keep actual secrets: As a player, you kissed someone and you both decided to keep it secret because you are a teens and don´t want your parents to find out (this could've have been used by simmers who don't mind filling in the gaps with our imagination to be like a "coming out" story, even enemies to lovers of kids from rival families); or something more simple like cheating on your partner. Child sims could have on like "I ate a booger" or say it was their friend. Maybe your sibling caught you sneaking out or kicking the trash can and they keep the secret from your parents. Maybe a friend in highschool told you about their crush and you could post it on social bunny or tell the crush directly, and it will affect the relationship with your friend. Imagine if you had a kleptomaniac sim and another klepto or evil sim caught you stealing and you become partners in crime because you decide to keep the secret (and if your sell the item you stole, you only get half the money because the other sim "will get the other half") It could have been a "secret system" like the way that sentiments, compatibility, milestones or reputation are "systems" in a way. Some sort of gameplay impacted by living a sims life outside of just CAS or build/buy. It could've been greatly integrated with social bunny, and the values and diary from parenthood...
That's to be expected. The Sims 4 is an old game. The first expansion pack came out in 2014 at 40$. Today that is 55$. Instead of raising the price of the pack EA decided to just give less. If they are cutting too much that is up to you to decide.

You can’t homechef hustle at the night market, but you can in city living You don’t get tomorani events and festivals despite having ‘child of the village’, in city living you get so many events and festivals like the spice festival. you don’t get enough lots, and only two neighbourhoods. they just gave you the ability to build multiple home but post building you just end up with a worse city living
can you do a video showing every sims the sims team created for this pack? for what i’ve seen they all look so cool and actually well made, i’d love to see them ALL and learn more about them, if they have lore or something linked to them (like skills or as i saw in some gameplays pets exc)

They should have included working elevators in this pack. You can literally create 4 storey apartments. Expecting my elder and pregnant sims to walk up 3 flights of stairs 😅😢

A good way to deal with the maintenance events would be through Aspiration Rewards. So if you want to become an amazing landlord with really upgraded, high quality properties, you could purchase a reward that stops it.
I feel like if you don’t want to split someone from your household and you want to be able to see what they’re doing all the time, then you just leave them in your household and assign them a bed like you’ve always done.
It’s too bad this pack doesn’t provide a way to have separated households living together, which many have wanted since the beginning. I don’t want my adult child or in laws living in an apartment on the lot to share refrigerator food and income, and I want them to be able to have their own guests, but I don’t want to turn that family gameplay into a landlord tenant mini game.
So, I'm mentally cataloguing this pack alongside Dine Out. Fantastic if you're a world builder and building a custom save. Not that buggy if you have a gaming PC, a low mod load, and know how to repair your game/clear the cache. Better if you're a guest/resident than someone owning and operating. You do need to be careful when creating lots or you will run into issues. I will probably love and use this pack forever, but will also understand if it doesn't have a great community reception. Dine Out is also in that same bucket. Also, I think you figured it out already, but for anyone reading through the comments - there is a universal on/off switch for maintenance events, which I'm probably going to use when I'm not playing as a big time building owner.
I think along with other business packs, DHD, the club system etc this is a fantastic pack for rotational gameplay. It also makes playing students rotationally a bit easier (if you rotate weekly after each term), as you won't get kicked out when term ends.
I want to know if upgrading stuff increases the rent as well. I once read a play that I called " Don't paint the wall white" that was about a lady who painted her walls white and her landlord increased her rent to the point she could not pay because she made it nicer.
So many things about this pack look promising, but I haven’t even bought it and I’m already tired of the landlord-tenant game loop. That really needs an off switch so sims can just live their lives in communities
I think 'can we replay __' depends on how you play. I think it's hard to answer. Even with this pack. Sure a player will use the apartment system but what about being a landlord? They might. Ot return to that. The maintenance events is an example of struggling to please everyone. Would once a sim month be enough? Too infrequent? But like you said the amount now might be too repetitive. Definitely agree this should be a setting or require an object for the game to know to program the event. Same with is this worth a GP or EP? Which some then add should GPs exist or it should be $20 EPs. And finally, with millions of players vs 3 gurus working on the pack, there's going to be things people will feel like are missing. The way things work definitely says how open districts would have been a good middle ground. I want this pack even though I haven't really played the game in 2 years. I'm just using the game for screen screenshots for my writing and right now I just want to convert a build I have into apartments. The snooping is fitting for a Sim I have. Hoping at least I'll play Sims more than making scenes for screenshots for my writing. I'm going back and forth with getting back to recording and uploading.
watching all the not so shiny reviews of for rent i'm wondering if i'm better off buying discover university and play pretend apartments with the roommate system. seems like the build buy, cas and gameplay has more to offer for the price tag. thank u for this helpful review
i’m ngl i’ve rarely played with the roommates system but apparently it’s not the smoothest. most people recently have accounted that roommates stick around for one or two days and then just disappear into the void never to be seen again. just wanted to give a heads up about that and this pack. there’s a lot of glitches (main one being rent not being paid) that still haven’t been fixed in this
I know you said kids can't find the marbles in the spawn locations but did you use the "Search for Toy" interaction on the frog log spots for example? It may only be with the Kids Room Stuff Pack because I know you can find Void Critter cards and other inventory-compatible toys that way. That said, I could find the cards sometimes but never get the actual Void Critter game to work with my kids even if they had cards in their inventory and that large 3 tile item they were supposed to sit down at so I haven't bothered with the cards in ages and for all I know, Marbles might not count as toys. Just putting that out there for clarification purposes since you asked us for our thoughts.

Teen+ can search in toyboxes for marbles. I think I saw someone find them dumpster diving too (like other collectibles), This is a gameplay way to get them without outright buying them. This allows for older sims to collect them, or they can be gifted to kids once found. I haven't tested it yet, but it's also likely they can be swapped/traded at the Flea Market with CiL, like other collectibles.

Yes, but with rental units a free base game update and the more complex landlord gameplay stuff in the pack… and with way more gameplay in the world. Locking the unit system in build mode behind the pack really shot themselves in the foot for future expansions where for example, we could have restaurants and apartments on the same lot, or shops and apartments, etc. expansive basegame patch updates is important to make the feature usable in future expansions and just harms the game’s development.
I had this when playing a single landlord. Unfortunately events still occur. You can leave work to fix them, or hope your shift ends in time to do it. I would suggest only having crafting/WFH/freelance/part time careers or no career at all while being a single landlord, or having more than one Teen+ sim with varying schedules to have someone available 24/7.
Yea, I would not want to see unbreakable items break.. what is the sense in either spending more money for better items and why upgrade them if they break anyway.. I want my unbreakable items to remain unbreakable.. as a land Lord I may want to do less maintenance and therefore give top quality items in my builds..
The thing about this pack which upsets me is the measly world, with just two neighborhoods and only 9 properties and tiny ones at that. everyone said when the Horse Pack came out, it felt like a game pack not an expansion pack and they had 3 neighborhoods and 13 properties and some large ones to boot.. 1 64x64 and 1 50x50.. so I am quite disappointed in the property given for a pack which is all about PROPERTIES.. and RENTING PROPERTIES.. I think what we got in this pack in the way of properties is disgusting..
I love the sims but I wish they expanded on the cultures they represented. We’ve gotten a lot of Asian representation in different forms and I’m hoping for more Spanish or black. And I think a rental game pack would be a great space to showcase an urban backdrop like a New York or Chicago or Philly.
I think we already have enough american worlds. Instead, I think we need more latin american (Brazil, Chile, Peru, etc) and african culture (Morocco, Nigeria, Ethiopia...)

I want modern dances (tiktok if you will or traditional bounce style). More gathering places that your sims can use other than a bar maybe a hair salon and you can hire your kid to sweep hair idk lol. I would love In general if when they did hairs they had one that matches up and down especially for textured hair for events and what not. I just feel like black and Spanish people have no background in the game but Asian adjacent or inspired does.
Indengious Mexican American here! (Sims Channel is sims4444) I briefly talked about how horse ranch touched on our ranchero lifestyle but yes. I which there was more representation for everyone that's NOT behind a paywall

(The majority of the game) Also the Asian representation has been from different countries with vastly unique cultures, some south American representation would fit the Latin/afro rep you seem to want very well.

Now that I think about it a fun backdrop would be New Orleans and that would really play into some of the gameplay I was mentioning. You could introduce trumpets, teens can join matching band and now funerals can be actual events for that proper send off. Maybe like festivals also there could be a block party thing that happens as well.
I have never played it before though I believe players would have a much better time if they brought back Sims 2: Apartment Life. Sims 4 with over 70 dlc has reeeeeeaaally ran its course and I know reviewing this game is how lots of people make their money but please it's getting so old. (I'm still engaging because I like this creator)

okay so i didn’t receive anything for the two in game week i played which i feel is deffo a glitch. i did flag it. a lot of people got there’s later than they expected but there’s just a notification and your money goes up from what i’ve heard. i know one or two who had it in early access fixed it with a repair game but that never worked for me
In my opinion most sims 4 expansion packs are game packy feeling in comparison to other sims games, but compared to sims 4 expansion packs, yes, I agree you could see it as an expansion. We'll see how well it's gonna age
I would agree with an argument that Horse Ranch should have been a Game Pack, but I don't agree that For Rent is not an Expansion Pack. The inclusion of multi-family lots is a big deal across multiple packs and can change the dynamics of a save in a lot of ways, even if you only factor in the sheer number of sims that can be housed in rental units over what was available before hand and how those extra sims impact the game.
you just have to delete your script mods, download the updated versions, potentially fix your game and should be fixed. i would back up all your game files before doing any of this though
Nardvillain has an easy to understand video on how update Sims 4 mods after a patch. I also find the Better Exceptions mod by Twisted Mexi to be useful in identifying mods that need to be updated. And since I’ve started using CurseForge for many of my mods and CC, updating after a patch goes a lot easier for me. I only have to manually update major script mods that are not available on CurseForge.
Usually a sale that happens right after a pack release doesn’t include the new pack, so if there is a sims or EA winter sale, this pack likely won’t be included and will still be full price.
i cant get onto the ea app . it asks for log in details and i have to verify account . they never sent me an email even though they said they did .. so annoying
Maxis should just get rid of kits, stuff packs, and expansion packs. Just make game packs with everything from the other packs in it. It would save them time and money. It would give us everything in one pack instead of these different packs. It would save us money also.
The pack should have not come out yet. It isn’t done my game isn’t even working because the bugs have made it unplayable I don’t understand how they could actually release a game pack that again DOES NOT WORK
I hope modders take heed to this video and start using those creative genius brains to make some mods to overhaul some of these features that sims 4 designed to become annoying later. 😂

It's a Game Pack worth of content sold for the price of an Expansion Pack. Even the world feels like it belongs to a GP rather than an EP.

have you tested if the sim is at work or away from the home lot whether the maintenance events still occur? do they get sent home to fix it or not?
i had 2 sims so they were both considered the property owners and they still happened when one was in work but the other was at home

I want my unbreakable items to remain unbreakable.. as a land Lord I may want to do less maintenance and therefore give top quality items in my builds..

The thing about this pack which upsets me is the measly world, with just two neighborhoods and only 9 properties and tiny ones at that. everyone said when the Horse Pack came out, it felt like a game pack not an expansion pack and they had 3 neighborhoods and 13 properties and some large ones to boot.. 1 64x64 and 1 50x50.. so I am quite disappointed in the property given for a pack which is all about PROPERTIES.. and RENTING PROPERTIES.. I think what we got in this pack in the way of properties is disgusting..
Wonderful Honest review
I love the sims but I wish they expanded on the cultures they represented. We’ve gotten a lot of Asian representation in different forms and I’m hoping for more Spanish or black. And I think a rental game pack would be a great space to showcase an urban backdrop like a New York or Chicago or Philly.
I think we already have enough american worlds. Instead, I think we need more latin american (Brazil, Chile, Peru, etc) and african culture (Morocco, Nigeria, Ethiopia...)
@@mxtheusleite I would love that I just think sims would execute it lazily lol. At least the American experience shouldn’t be so hard to replicate especially in the perceptive black and brown people. I want modern dances (tiktok if you will or traditional bounce style). More gathering places that your sims can use other than a bar maybe a hair salon and you can hire your kid to sweep hair idk lol. I would love In general if when they did hairs they had one that matches up and down especially for textured hair for events and what not. I just feel like black and Spanish people have no background in the game but Asian adjacent or inspired does.
Indengious Mexican American here! (Sims Channel is sims4444) I briefly talked about how horse ranch touched on our ranchero lifestyle but yes. I which there was more representation for everyone that's NOT behind a paywall
@@sandy80334 you seem to be wanting black American cultural stuff, honestly while that sounds great that's still just more of the states. (The majority of the game)
Also the Asian representation has been from different countries with vastly unique cultures, some south American representation would fit the Latin/afro rep you seem to want very well.
@@nerdycurls6253 right, I would love different countries I just don’t know how well they would fair given the limits of the sims 4. Now that I think about it a fun backdrop would be New Orleans and that would really play into some of the gameplay I was mentioning. You could introduce trumpets, teens can join matching band and now funerals can be actual events for that proper send off. Maybe like festivals also there could be a block party thing that happens as well.
I have never played it before though I believe players would have a much better time if they brought back Sims 2: Apartment Life.
Sims 4 with over 70 dlc has reeeeeeaaally ran its course and I know reviewing this game is how lots of people make their money but please it's getting so old.

Wait, we can't turn off maintenance events? I swear I've seen somewhere that there's an option to turn off events. Or is it only for random parties and stuff?
No, you can't. You can add maintenance events as a challenge for normal residential lots, but you can't remove them from apartments.

okay so i didn’t receive anything for the two in game week i played which i feel is deffo a glitch. i did flag it. a lot of people got there’s later than they expected but there’s just a notification and your money goes up from what i’ve heard. i know one or two who had it in early access fixed it with a repair game but that never worked for me

In my opinion most sims 4 expansion packs are game packy feeling in comparison to other sims games, but compared to sims 4 expansion packs, yes, I agree you could see it as an expansion. We'll see how well it's gonna age
I would agree with an argument that Horse Ranch should have been a Game Pack, but I don't agree that For Rent is not an Expansion Pack. The inclusion of multi-family lots is a big deal across multiple packs and can change the dynamics of a save in a lot of ways, even if you only factor in the sheer number of sims that can be housed in rental units over what was available before hand and how those extra sims impact the game.

you just have to delete your script mods, download the updated versions, potentially fix your game and should be fixed. i would back up all your game files before doing any of this though
Nardvillain has an easy to understand video on how update Sims 4 mods after a patch.
I also find the Better Exceptions mod by Twisted Mexi to be useful in identifying mods that need to be updated.
And since I’ve started using CurseForge for many of my mods and CC, updating after a patch goes a lot easier for me. I only have to manually update major script mods that are not available on CurseForge.

Usually a sale that happens right after a pack release doesn’t include the new pack, so if there is a sims or EA winter sale, this pack likely won’t be included and will still be full price.

i cant get onto the ea app . it asks for log in details and i have to verify account . they never sent me an email even though they said they did .. so annoying
I bought it last night and I’m extremely disappointed. $40 could’ve been spent on ANYTHING else
Maxis should just get rid of kits, stuff packs, and expansion packs. Just make game packs with everything from the other packs in it. It would save them time and money. It would give us everything in one pack instead of these different packs. It would save us money also.
The pack should have not come out yet. It isn’t done my game isn’t even working because the bugs have made it unplayable I don’t understand how they could actually release a game pack that again DOES NOT WORK
I hope modders take heed to this video and start using those creative genius brains to make some mods to overhaul some of these features that sims 4 designed to become annoying later. 😂
