So many reviews were negative and blamed Sanjay Leela Bhansali for glorifying prostitution but many of those people missed the whole point of the story .It was portraying the golden days of courtesans art and politics and more of all it was trying to show there were so many unheard unknown freedom fighters who sacrificed their life for freedom of India who were never known and forgotten.Even after the freedom this women struggle for their own freedom and respect in society.
You are not wrong, I don’t know why people made negative comments about showing prostitution bcoz that is what the main point of the series is. But the thing is.. it felt incomplete somehow, I think that’s what many viewers feel that they could not properly show the entire story. I guess most of the negative reviews were about this.

I think same everyone from different cast, background,work,gender,etc. faught for freedom.Its not about glorifying but about depicting this is what was happening during that era. Every era has good and bad which is later identified.
I think what people expect from a man like SLB who is master of grand aesthtics onscreen and period dramas is to pick up some more inspiring characters from our history or mythology since he can give such content the kind of treatment they deserve. Besides, no matter what people say about these women , at the end of the day they were prostitutes.

I just watched the series. Hearing about all the negativity i couldnt stop myself from watching this series. IT IS A WONDERFUL SERIES. I MEAN AS A 19YR OLD INDIAN I NEVER KNEW THIS SIDE OF FREEDOM STRUGGLE. NEVER HEARD THE TERM "TAWAIF". THIS MADE ME THINK HOW IT MUST HAVE BEEN FOR MANY. AND HOW THEY MANAGED TO LIFE THOSE TIMES. i truly enjoyed and appreciate this series. It wouldve been evn nice if there was more.
But they didn't even develop the whole free struggle bit! I don't understand why people are recommending this stupid series! It's visually striking no doubt, it's probably the prettiest show I've ever watched but the writing is so so horrible!
Sanjay leela bhansali is so talented artist that even in 1999 his movies gives pleasing to eyes and ears , great colour pallet and great cinematography

Well not to worry at all.. If Miguel loved sanjay 's thoughts, you can definitely watch devdas / bajirao masthani / padmavat with him.. All three are directed by him and are cinematic masterpieces.. They look amazing but are great films as well.. And sanjay deserves the love as he's one of the most revered filmmakers we have here, it's just that he dint get this one right

Sanjay is unique he is the one man army, the sets, music, direction etc is his vision. So he can weave the Indian art with his compositions of Indian music seamlessly. You will understand when you will watch his movies.
Now that these masterpieces are finally available on Netflix, the world will finally see the brilliance of modern Indian cinema. This is the just the very beginning.
So cute to see how Bhansali speaking on AD moved Miguel. Yeah, India is like that and does have that effect, very casually. No wonder people feel like exploiting the richness of this land.
He really got so emotional. He said it felt like Bhansali was speaking to him artist to artist. Miguel loves art and loved how he spoke about it.
I admire Miguel for his honest response. The second half of the comment was not on ChaatNchat. It was more a reflection on an aspect of Indian richness and connecting it the colonial exploitation. No offense meant. Apologies if any read 🙏

Even though some people didn’t like the storyline but his work on heeramandi songs is astounding. And the visuals are so so good. It’s not a bad story, it is okay ish but that’s because Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali delivers movies on other level. So everyone went with super expectations in it. But few characters in heeramandi were so good. You could feel the connect. Especially malikajaan ( Manisha koirala), she is an old actress but her acting in that character truly fitted her. Then is bibbojaan (Aditi Rao hydri) no one expected her to shine amongst all of them. So you can still watch it. But recommendations of Sanjay sir would be Gangubai kathiyawadi,Ramleela, Bajirao mastani, Devdas. The story line, visuals all are amazing to see.

I think before you watch Heeramandi ( if you are planning to watch it ) you should watch other SLB movies ... you will get to know more about how he portrays the films and make it cinematic .. his work is just amazing!
some Slb movies are : Padmaavat (would recommend watching this first) , Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (these are some of the best SLB films)

Heeramandi ,a very aesthetic movie. Such class in production and direction . A real Poetic version of realism , Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the one wh could actually make a Ramayana movie with this level of aesthetics and movie design

I just finished watching Heeramandi, and it is definitely worth a watch for the artistry of SLB. The sets, the dances, the acting, the clothes and Jewlery; everything was meticulously done. Of course, one could critic the story and nitpick, but overall I thought it was quite well done.
I watched it and i loved it... Ofcourse there are flaws but no series is perfect... Actually SLB is considered to be a master of masters of storytelling and cinematography that's why majority are disappointed coz it didn't live up to the hype.. Anyway you guys can still watch it.. I would love to watch you guys reacting to it ❤

Sanjay Sir is known for big artistic sets and historical movies like padmavat, bajirao mastani... Every shot from his movie is praiseworthy... Sets ,colour designs , costumes and of course music too...
Heeramandi is not about Prostitution....but different aspects of Female personality dimensions...time of Indian Sub Continent's Revolution... about luxury look and reasons of the failures of Nawab lifestyle.... Heeramandi is a wonderful project.
Heeramndi is far from realities of that time, it's a fantasy adaptation of few events-
1) Just read about "Anti Nauch movement " promoted by british.
The culture of music & dance was very prevalent in India before british but they enforced victorian Moralities and reduced the women in art to prostitutes.
2) Before that mughal rulers use to abduct hindu female dancer worshipers in temples and forced them into sex slavery at hheeramndi,
but it was a very small part of the cultural art place of Heeramndi.
Here's my take , its a stunning setup with never before seen storyline(courtesan and their fight for freedom), and as for plotholes every series hv them , U shld definitely give it a go , as an artist u will learn soo much

One suggestion for you: You know there's a RUclips channel named CineDesi led by Jaby Koay. He's been posting Indian reactions since 2015, so he's experienced. His video posting pattern is what makes his channel good. You can follow it if you want. You can do two videos of two different movies each day, for example, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These reactions should be of separate movies so that you can give the viewers an option about which movie they want to watch. The third video should be things like trailers and about India and all these things. This will make your channel better than CineDesi's because he does three movie reactions a day, but you will do two movie reactions and one video reaction of things completely different. To teach Miguel more about India, you guys can also react to videos of Indian content creators like many other reaction channels do. The names of some of the Indian creators will be Ashish Chanchlani, Triggered Insaan, CarryMinati, and BB Ki Vines. Actually, I do not like some of these guys, but I will not be biased and will let you know all of them from your side.
Channels that big also have a large team of editors and producers. I wish people knew how much work even editing 1 of these movies takes. I know personally it takes me about 20 hours to edit 1 movie into 3 parts. So if we were to do 2 we are talking about 40 hours to do 2 releases plus the time it takes to watch the movies. Now add in an extra 3rd video which is random videos (less editing is required but still takes around 3 hours to complete) It is just a lot of work. As you mentioned some of these channels have been around since 2015 and we just started not even 3 months ago with our first release. It takes time to get to that point. Just doing 1 video a day is a struggle but we are working very hard at growing and releasing content. Of course if it was as easy to just say we will release 3 I would.... heck... I would release 5... why not... but the time and scale of the team is the limitation. We need editors but editors can be pricey... so it is a tough situation.

This is actually getting mixed repoerts.. There are some who quite loved the series and no doubt its one of the most aesthetic and well shot series from India till date.. But some felt it went quite weak in the storyline while focussing on making it look gorgeous..

Series was good it sanjay leela started researching on this project from last 12 years.
Pros:- mesmerizing sets, outfits and songs also all actors performed well.
Cons:- story was simple and not that much impactful, sometimes it was boring.

Oh I’m sorry that Miguel sir was really looking forward to it but the reviews are not good. It’s actually that we, who have seen SLB’s work since forever were expecting a lot (as we should). Unfortunately, this one didn’t stand out compared to his iconic movies. They got really good and talented actors who did stand out but unfortunately the story didn’t.😢 And also, actors except his niece (one of the leading roles), she really messed up every scene she was in. Completely expressionless, couldn’t make out what she was feeling or was trying to convey to the audience and such an important character. Didn’t expect nepotism from SLB.
Honestly, it’s funny but I feel that Indians who have any weddings coming up can take really good ideas from the visuals and sets in this. 😂

I have watched 3 episodes. It's so so slow paced. I don't like that. But the dialogues, small details & sets were really amazing. But a gripping screenplay is lagging.
Dang, that is unfortunate. I also really don't like slow build ups within movies or series. I was really hoping this would be a good one.
@@ChaatNChat no man trust me it's really slow paced. But you would also find the big atmosphere, costumes, set designs like any other Bhansali movie. But it's not worth the time. I would rather watch LOTR series again.

Too much sweet is not good. That’s Heeramandi. It’s visually spectacular but a modern take on the lives of Desperate “Tawaif” of Lahore. Story is not deep for all the over-acting. Monisha Koirala
& Sinha standouts.
Please don't watch Heeramandi! Not because of the courtesan culture but simply because the plot is horribly shoddy! It's a great shame that despite the aesthetics being lovely and the cast being full of talented actors (except the female lead), the writing is simply awful! The motivations of the characters keep changing, plot points are built up to be simply forgotten, the whole independence struggle angle (within the heeramandi tawaifs) is very poorly developed and makes no sense!
You're better off watching a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie instead!

We did the trailer to get comments on how they liked it and to see if there were recommendations. Just from listening to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Miguel is a big fan but some people in the comments have mentioned there are better projects of his we can watch instead
@@ChaatNChat He has much better films than this IMO. Bajirao Mastani, Hum Dil de chuke Sanam (90's movie), Padmavat, Gangubai Kathyawadi. No doubt about the visuals, aesthetics, background scores and epic outfits but the storyline and unnecessary sex scenes is what makes this film unwatchable. Except visuals nothing attracts you.

@@ChaatNChatit’s not for everyone but it’s a well made series. It’s not a masterpiece. There are issues with the script but nonetheless, good show. Good acting, spectacular cinematography, sets, costumes and score. Watch it
