- om606 superturbodiesel 4x4 campervan based on renault trafic body, a quick video of the trailer first time out the workshop. The van was built for expeditions / overlanding or simply wild camping on the weekends , this was a quick test of the prototype trailer at lake district green lanes.

I was thinking to start some kind of a same project 2 years ago with a Vivaro and patrol axels, but ended buying a T5.1 doka 4motion with rear locker and seikel offroad kit.. just to be easier with registration in Romania. I will attach a haldex controller for a more responsable shaft. It is not a proper 4x4 like yours, offcourse, but it's doing the job for a camper

Thomas Zurawski In France you can’t make modifications which change the data of your registration certificate. If you want to do it anyway and stay legal you have to petition for a new certificate. Generally if the modification is not allowed by the manufacturer the new certificate is denied.
@@jeanphiabeille yes I know if France it's difficult, here in UK were still ok with this kind of modifications as far as it's all done properly, however I will make it tested and registered as one off with all new registration cert before leaving the UK for longer travel, although if legal in the country of origin it's legal to travel abroad but I really don't want to argue with ignorant police specially in Germany so better extra safe.
Shame that in lots of countries this mods are not legal or extremely difficult to register .
No, it's all custom build , axles are from Nissan patrol y61, om606 engine, auto 5 speed gearbox and new gen np231 transfer case and lockers , on 35" bf Goodrich with 10j beadlocks
@@MLV1000 yes I did modify the chassis actually front section is new, yes it's difficult on Europe but not impossible, in Poland you can still do it although they make it more and more difficult, in UK same procedure you register it as one off or as a kit car depending how you want to understand it, that's the best way as it's all tested properly and whole new paperwork is done, in Portugal I know someone does register mods after tests, in UK not needed for now but I'll do it anyway to not have any problems abroad , yes I do this full time, I used to build competition cars for many years incl off road ones. Trafic and t5 are very difficult to convert properly 4x4 as not much space for the longitudinal engine and transmission setup, I'm doing a ford ecoline campervan next with a surprise engine for a customer and probably a sprinter conversion for solid axles and around 37" tyres. We can have a chat about your project no problems but atm I'm very busy so I can't take on anything else atm.

Trafic 4x4 does exist. Since the first generation. But not like this one.
dci100 written on the side; though the engine does not sound like a 1.9 common rail diesel engine.

The Mitsubishi is 4x4 minivan, now that is cool. Is the trafic the same size as a Ford transit? Nicely loaded out.
Yes the delicas are pretty cool, I have the l300 model which is the square older one, bigger inside , waiting for tdi pd engine transplant. Trafic inside is about 1" narrower and about 3 or 4" shorter inside if I remember correctly but hugely bigger than vwt5 for example. We choose to build the trafic swb because we want it to be as much offroad capable as possible for a van, obviously not on this video as this was just little green lane out and camping with friends

To bylo w lake district, pelno takich lajnow ale w Szkocji chlopaki tez jezdza z tego co wiem

Masz jakieś doświadczenie z firmami w uk robiącymi do jeep progi czy osłony bo nic nie mogę znajlezc do wk2. Jak będziecie w Szkocji w okolicach deeside to mogę pokazać cudne miejsca
@@abazdarhon niestety nie znam nikogo godnego polecenia , ciezko ze specjalistami. Na szkocje napewno polecimy jeszcze raz, bylismy 2 I raz n.a. isle of sky, damy znac kiedy bedzie w planie nastepny wypad, dzieki!

No popoff valve there, just turbo chatter

@@dieterdiehl8235 Haha yeah I got you, that's what I mean, on the previous videos I show the whole engine build, however it's a mercedes om606 engine with fully mechanical pump.

Did you need to install a different stall converter for this swap?
I have a nag1 converter or better say jeep wj but it stalls too high, I will try the e300 next with different oil, should be better.

@@kirstontozer-goaspirit61 On hinges, you open that thirst and then the door, now I've added a jerry can holder on top of the spare wheel. Soon I'll get it out camping and possibly some better off road trip with a proper review on the lot.

produisait bien un trafic 4x4, mais bien loin d'un point de vu performance TT dont celui-ci doit être capable, il y a des jours où j'aimerais vivre en Grande Bretagne.

And once again it is shown: For serious Off-Road, 4x4 camping, STAY AWAY from pulling a trailer or caravan! Further more, vehicles with a high center of gravity are a NO-GO. Yes, they are more comfortable once you reach your destination but you have to choose your destination carefully otherwise you might never reach it in the first place 😧
Sure, but you realised this is expedition/overlanding vehicle, not serious off-road toy, plus you'll be surprised how low the center if gravity it is on it, it's not much higher than a patrol and has less top weight actually, everything heavy is right at the floor hight.

Found this video quite by accident but I’ve got to say that looks awesome, love the side door how good is that idea. I would be more tempted with this set up for an overland trip then a traditional 4x4. Great job oh and the engine/exhaust sounds fantastic
