The media used to paint Freddie as difficult to work with because of his perfectionism, but both Brian and Roger point out that Freddie was actually the band's peacemaker in fights, turning tense moments into funny ones and helping the band stay together for so long. This would help explain why John left after Freddie's death, but it's hard to know
Freddie was extremely shy, so in interviews he was very nervous and fidgety. Freddie's ancestors came from Iran, they moved to India, his ethnicity is parsee, he was born in Zanzibar. When he was 7 his parents sent him to India to boarding school he only saw his family once a year. He was in his first band in that boarding school and learned to play the piano.
Queen had three keyboard players throughout their tour career. Morgan Fisher was the first one. He worked with Queen in the European Tour of 1982. He was the keyboardist of the band Mott The Hoople, which Queen supported in their early tours. Between 72 and 73, he was also part of a band that also featured Tim Staffell one of the vocalist and the bassist of the band Smile, which was the former band of Brian and Roger, before Queen. Fred Mandel was the next one who also participated in 1982 tours. In 1983 he and other 3 musicians (including Van Halen) would be invited by Brian May to record and album, that would be Star Fleet Project, credited to Brian May + Friends. He played piano and synthesizers. In 1984 he collaborated in four songs of Queen, for the album The Works. He shared credits for playing synthesizers with Roger and Freddie in Radio Ga Ga. He shared credits with John for the synthesizers in I Want To Break Free. He played the synthesizers in Jammer To Fall. And he did the piano finale in Man On The Prowl. He also worked with Freddie in Freddie's first album, Mr. Bad Guy. He did some additional piano and synthesizers contribution, and played the rhythm guitars. The last Queen keyboardist started in Queen's 1984 tour and still with Queen + until this day. He would play keyboards, do some backing vocals and play the rhythm guitar in Hammer To Fall. Spike Edney worked with Queen and its members in a lot of occasions. He shared the synthesizers credits with the Queen members in 3 songs of the album A Kind Of Magic. He was a member of a band Roger created, that lasted from 87 to 93. He contributed writing and co-writing songs, doing backing vocals, playing keyboards and also played mandolin in one of the songs. He played keyboards in Brian's tours of 1982-83 and 1998, and also played keyboards in of the songs of Brian's 1998 album, Another World.
He's so beautiful ❤❤❤ I told my mom that I was going to marry Freddie someday 😂❤ He passed away when I was 12 and I was heartbroken 💔! You would love the One Vision documentary
He is gorgeous. Very charismatic. Some people assume Freddie is a diva. But he is a very kind person with a big heart not only to those people close to him but to everybody. He loved the Queen fans. I also want to meet someone like him and be my partner. More than good looks,, freddie has a great character ♥️♥️♥️
As much as we all love to hear from Freddie, I always feel uneasy for him during interviews. He so obviously hated them and I think if he could just avoid them altogether and stick only to performing, he would. I am selfishly grateful though that a few interviewers were allowed to record his words and let us in to his life behind the scenes just a little ❤ The Legend lives on 😊
That's true, I feel sorry for him in the interview in São Paulo for TV Bandeirantes here in Brazil, the interviewer seems to have no idea what personal space is, watching today it's a very funny interview despite being embarrassing
Thank you, Queen’s lighting system was the most expensive in the world at the time...I believe that it had a master light that directed the configuration of lighting that they needed as they went along....I heard Freddie say that he would do a lighting run through the day before each show.....they were perfectionists🤩
Pluto, I love the reactions that you do because you take the time to listen to the conversations and their music. You don’t stop it over and over to keep talking. You get a lot more out of the music when you do it like that. I have listened to other people’s reactions and I don’t care for them because they interrupt things too much.
Freddie was often titled as the leader of the band, but he always refused it and stated, that the was just the 25% of the group. They all felt themselves stronger together than apart, though everybody got some freedom for doing their own projects on the sides of Queen. The first additional musician in the band was Morgan Fisher, a keyboard player.
Freddie was probably talking about Fred Mandel. In 1982, Mandel was asked to perform with Queen on their Hot Space tour supporting their album Hot Space. Freddie wanted to perform up front and not be so tied to the piano so Fred would play the piano. Freddie continued to play piano on most of the classic songs like "We Are The Champions". For the 1984 The Works tour, Philip (Spike) Edney replaced Fred Mandel and collaborated with Queen mostly on keyboards (his main instrument), rhythm guitar, and backing vocals. He even performed with them during Live Aid. Spike still plays the keyboard during the Queen and Adam Lambert concerts today.
To say Freddie hated being interviewed is an understatement. I’m on his side ( as always ) The critics were many times unkind to Queen and Freddie was shy in his personal life. Brian and Roger were better at being interviewed.

nice interviews about egos...always very frank and free speaking...Freddie does not hide anything.....thanks for this moment again

Brian May playing God Save the Queen on the roof of Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Jubilee concert in 2002 was an amazing sight to witness.

His death broke my heart something awful. a 90-92 we’re really rough for me. But it tragically brought the AIDS epidemic to a new light.
The extra keyboard player is Spike Edney who still tours with them today.
