All the unboxing videos are funny. It's like we all get to feel for a moment what it's like to get something nice. Great work. I'm saving for one myself.
+Kevin T Thank you for the comment. Have you been able to pick one up yet?
+K6DPF yes I got one... love it!
+Kevin T They are a great radio!
I’m 34 and i still love bubble wrap.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you! I really love this radio. It’s likely going to be my first HF rig.
I owned an ATAS 120A for a month, and immediately sold it. Pure junk. I also had an 857D and that was NOT junk! Great Radio!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! It is greatly appreciated. Not sure if yours was defective or not, but I have hit Canary Islands from California with mine.
Very with the ATAS 120A with the 857D got a 5/9 from central NJ to Slovenia . Need to be patient takes a minute or two to tune up . 73 KD2TIP
Congrats, I started with the FT-100 then went to the 857d. My antenna is the ATAS-100 and a Diamond dualband for the vhf/uhf. It is a great combo.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
Congrats, great pairing between the ATAS 120 & the 857D. Keep in mind though, that HF propagation, especially on 10,12 & 15 meters has been really bad... you can catch some action on 18, 20 & 40 meters... ENJOY! :)
Great, 15 meters is opening up a bit late in the afternoon/evening .... 73's
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. As you know still using the ATAS 120A, but sometimes wish I hadn't sold the FT-857D
nice new equipment
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated.
Why did you choose the 857 over the 450D?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I liked the size of the FT-857D much better, especially since it was used as a mobile radio.
Hello VidsbyDPF - I have this set up and I also have the Alpha Match 2.0 military antenna. With the atas120a, I use menu K and use the atas setting .Could you explain how I would set the radio to use the Alpha match antenna - I don't know which settings to use. Take care!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. If memory serves the same menu setting "K" will allow you to change from ATAS to HF + 6m.
is that cb Radio waterproof? im looking for a waterproof cb for my atv, all i could find is the Standard Horizon GX1200B. but not to sure if that would work with other cb Radios
***** Thank you for the comment. No, the Yaesu FT-857D is NOT waterproof, nor is it a CB Radio.
*****
o ok thank u.. :)
***** You are welcome!
***** :)
will this work on 2 and 10 meters? im looking to getting into hamming myself
+mississippi catfish Thank you for your comment!
Yes. This radio will work on HF/VHF/UHF (160 meters to 6 meters and 2 meter and 70 centimeter).
any updates on how your setup is running?
***** For real? Any issues? I've read some issues with it but I know that any thing has issues...
***** Thanks for the reply. I want the same radio, just trying to find it on sale. One can only hope. I am also set on getting this antenna but I have a Tacoma with a SnugTop shell thus making it hard for me to find an installation point.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated I am sorry for not seeing this question sooner. It has been a great setup! However I no longer have the FT-857D I now use the FT-891. There are times that I wish I didn't sell the FT-857D.
any issues with atas not going up or down?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I think once or twice the ATAS has had an issue raising and/or lowering. It has not done this in quite a while. IT has done it with both the FT-857D and the FT-891
will this work on 2 and 10 meters? im looking to getting into hamming myself
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Yes. This radio will work on HF/VHF/UHF (160 meters to 6 meters and 2 meter and 70 centimeter).
The radio will work on 2 and 10, but the ATAS antenna shown will not work on many of the bands including 2 m and 70 cm.
