Believe it😂 or not, Will “Smitty”mSmith taught me what he knew about intarsia, many, many years ago. I use a Sapphire faceting machine for all my work. I’m not an engineer, and have been trying to create an eight pointed Christmas Star using Lapis & Opal. I don’t get much time to work on intarsia, but eventually will get it figured out. I will be taking your class later this summer. My wife and I want to try some before class. She would like to know how thick to cut slab for center piece.
Hi Levan, I look forward to meeting you in August. I think you'll enjoy the class as we always have a good time and everyone ends up with quite a few nice intarsia pieces. Since you will be cutting the slab make it at least 1/4" thick. That will give you plenty of glue surface for the borders. If, after you get the entire piece constructed, you decide it's too thick then you can thin the whole intarsia down just before attaching the backing. Bill
Hi there, great video. I just bought a new cab machine and I’m concerned about the epoxy and glue clogging up my diamond wheels. Do you use separate wheels for intarsia projects? Thank you.

Hi Susan, Once the epoxy has hardened it's not a problem...👍
