I have been very depressed lately and - no word of a lie - you have kept me on an EVEN FLOW and have kept me from going over the edge. I am sure that you help more people like me than you will ever know because they won't post it in the comments. I am a strictly very straight male but I love you my friend and I thank you for being the amazing person that you are. You see more in songs than ALL OTHER REACTORS ON RUclips DO COMBINED. Your insights are what give me the strength to keep going even on days when I want to give up and just check out. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO - Without knowing it you have kept me going just by being the truly amazing person that you are
I understand that feeling I have been there many times im grateful that my videos are able to help you. Everything will work out fam and the videos will keep coming. Bless up family 🙏🏿. I appreciate you
1.) Thanks so much for giving PJ another listen!!😊 2.) This song was inspired by the death of a homeless man lead singer Eddie Vedder once knew in real-life (coincidentally, also named Eddie😉). Eddie used to buy his lunch and grab a second sandwich for the man and listen to the man's stories. Anyway, life got busy and one day Eddie Vedder was back in the area and went looking for the homeless veteran he had befriended. After searching in the usual areas for the man, Eddie was told that he had passed away recently. He passed away in his sleep, essentially freezing to death on the streets. It upset Eddie terribly and he wrote this song in the man's memory and to help raise awareness for the issues of homelessness, and the need for better care for our veterans, including their mental health. Hence the line (that u brought up!): "looking through the paper though he doesn't know to read it" and "he can't help when he's happy he looks insane".... the man's mental health wasn't so good due to PTSD. 3.) At the end of this song, in tribute to the homeless Vet who passed, Eddie says in spoken word (muffled by the instrumental outro).... - "I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said nothing. I'm dead" - Eddie Vedder (in memoriam of Ed the homeless veteran he knew) 4.) To touch on what you said about the bands of Grunge, the big 4 were Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. Grunge music/the style of music was born in the Seattle underground music scene in the late 80's amongst like-minded people/musicians who didn't like the way the world was going and were also quite sick of the '80's hairband mentality of partying, sex, drugs and T&A themes. They felt the music world was going to shit and that music was an important tool to communicate on a much higher and more important level than what the 80's had been doing! lol!!! (keep in mind, I'm saying this with all the love in the world for the 80's hairbands!🤗 I was a teen in the late 80's and I LOVED me some Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses and Def Leppard! lol!!😜) FUN FACT: The word "grunge" by definition is dirty, grimy, messy.... and is a descriptor of things that people like to hide or "sweep-under-the-rug" so to speak. That's how the term Grunge originated. It's due to their messy/dirty lyrics and their typical heavy/sludgy guitar sound.... - Now onto #5.... 5.) IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Nirvana was great but their lyrics were much more self-reflective (for Kurt Cobain's part) and honestly.... quite negative, with self-destructive themes and filled with a lot of anger..... Their was a HUGE difference between Pearl Jam and Nirvana. PJ has always written from the heart about real-life issues and struggles with the intent to help others and even raise awareness for important issues such as this song and "Jeremy" and even their songs "Daughter" and "Better Man". Even if you choose not to do the entire "TEN" album.... those last 2 songs "Daughter" from their 2nd album "VS". and "Better Man" from their 3rd album "VITALOGY" are two that you need to check out. They're beautifully written, sonically kickass and are both about real-life issues in an effort to raise awareness and help others through their music. Love Pearl Jam and all the guys of Grunge.🥰 They helped damn near an entire generation (my generation!!) get through a lot!! Thanks for this one Biz! Love ya and you rock!!!👊😎❤ P.S. There's a compilation vid out there of all (well, of many) of Eddie's stage dives, climbs and jumps through the years! IT'S AWESOME!!!! The guy was nuts.... in ALL THE BEST WAYS!! Sadly, at 57 years old, he doesn't do that ish anymore... HUGE BUMMER!! lol!!!
@@Casherr93🤔 Welp, considering all the Grunge guys were HEAVILY influenced, inspired by and adored Punk, Blues and the 70's Rock Era music.... your opinion/definition of Pearl Jam and Grunge in general is fairly accurate, ALTHOUGH..... in NO FREAKING WAY were any of them EVER "Arena" rock!!🙄😂 "Arena" rock was and still is the absolute ANTETHISIS of what the guys of Grunge were all about!!💯 As a matter of fact..... in '94, Pearl Jam actually boycotted Ticket Master, the record labels etc., because they were charging too much for tickets and wanted them to be "sellouts" and "perform" and have all the bells, whistles and props at their concerts. Pearl Jam said an emphatic HELL NO to all that BS!!👊 They're about the music and the message... NOT the "show" like 80's hairband industry was.💯 Thanks for the reply though! 👍 🙂
@@tinagilbert8902 sorry, i meant to say like a "stadium rock" sound, judging by the sound of Ten ;). I know the story of ticketmaster and their roots, but after ten their sound became more punk/alternative
@@Casherr93 NO apology necessary.😊 Stadium rock is definitely a better descriptor though! lol!!😁 Their sound changed a bit here and there, but that's just part of the natural evolution of the human soul as we gather wisdom through the years.😉 Example: Zeppelin changed and evolved too as they grew from young 20y/o punks to 30-something grown men, husbands and fathers. In Through The Outdoor, their last studio album recorded while Bonham was still alive is a great example! Had Bonham lived.... their music would've evolved too! I would've loved to see that!! Anywhoo, on PJ evolving into more punk/alternative.... they started out with an alternative sound and purpose so that also makes sense in their journey! Love them and the boys of Grunge!! Rock on brother!!🤘
👏👏👏 Yes to "Porch"!!👊 The live at Pink Pop is a freaking awesome performance with a funny story behind it! 👊 What happens in the performance comes full circle 20 years later! Super fun!! Great suggestion!!🙃
Porch PinkPop 92 if you want to see Eddie get really crazy. When they toured for the Ten album, he would get out of control with his climbing and jumping.
Mother Love Bone is the band from whose ashes sprang Pearl Jam. And arguably a better group. Andrew Wood didn't belt them out like Eddie Vedder, or write so deeply, but he was a kid, and could have been a star to outshine them all
I never have, and never will pray (I was neve brainwashed with religion). I almost died twice in the last year. Not once did prayer cross my mind. I just wanted the doctors to do their job. I could die at any moment as we speak. Still, prayer is the last thing on my mind, because I am realistic.
Their onstage energy is crazy. And Eddie's voice is a force of nature.
Yes, the entirety of Ten is absolutely worth a listen. One of my top ten favorite albums-no pun intended.
Great choice Tina!! ♥️🔥🎸🎤🔥♥️

I was a card carrying member of the Grunge Era and Evenflow was my intro to Pearl Jam. I still have all their music and listen to it on the regular.
Eddie Vedder was always climbing and Crowd surfing !!!!
If I froze time at a moment when I was truly happy, it would have been during a Pearl Jam concert back in the 90's.

Pearl jam was more like a 70s arena rock band stucked in the 90s alongside other metal and punk bands like nirvana and alice in chains

My favorite from Pearl Jam. ❤ Eddie Vedders voice is pure fineness!
Good one Tina 👍
If this were today nobody would have caught him, they'd all be looking at their phones.
Great reaction!
Eddie Vedder is awesome!!
Brilliant reaction & analysis mate. Loved it.
Thanks a ton!
Ten and vs are 90s jewels
If you want to check out a really crazy jump by Vedder, watch the song Porch, live at Pink Pop.
You should check out In living colour, cult of personality great song (IMO)

Please do a reaction to Pearl Jam “Porch” at Pink Pop 🙏🏼 It’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I second this. It's a must see performance for sure
It’s about a homeless Vet, that Eddie met back in the day, he use to give him food etc

Glad you're getting into Pearl Jam, check out Porch from their first album or one of the Live versions out there may be better.
