Yeah, to nix the risk of straddling games between episodes in the category format.
That's just like a 2-0 winner on Whew! playing a 3rd board "against the villains" (personally called the Villains' Challenge) for more cash and Gauntlet time.

Speaking of The Joker's Wild...it's back with Snoop Dogg hosting "sure he's not the best but he's way better than Bill Cullen, Cullen sucks on Joker's Wild but his other shows he was great on"

@Everybody here, yes, back on Wednesday, January 30, 1991, "The Joker's Wild" game show had Mr. Patrick "Pat" J. Finn as its previous host just as his former studio announcer there was Mr. Edward "Ed" MacKay!

    If it was so good:
    (1) Why did they return to categories (formerly cash to answer random crap).
    (2) It tanked in one year.
    Hope "Dogg" does better.

I always thought the values were too low vs. how much you needed to end the round, especially in the 2nd round when one player gets in with a low score, it's anti-climatic and often drags. It would have been better if they doubled the values in the 2nd round. It would give the 2nd player a realistic chance to catch up.

They changed it in early January 1991. For some strange reason, they went back to the dollars format in the final week of shows.

I remember this show, but it's nothing commpared to Jack Barry's version. When did they change the format of this show? I know this show onlyh lasted one year although USA carried it for it seemed like two years.

(Continuing from part 3) If 3 jokers come up on the board, they automatically win the amount that's in the Joker's Jackpot, which would start at either $15,000 or $20,000 and would increase to another 5,000 or 10,000 until won. Also, here's who I think they should get to host. I think they should get either Tom Bergeron, Todd Newton, John O'Hurley, Richard Karn or maybe Graham Elwood for the hosting gig. Well, that's how I picture the format of Joker's wild would be like.

Well, as a game show fan, I enjoyed all versions of TJW, especially Pat Finn's, Snoop Dogg's & Jack Barry's, Bill Cullen's version was ok too!

Jim Peck did a great job filling in for Barry/Cullen as well! Watching this and the 70's/80's versions take me back to my childhood and youth/teens watching these on CBS/USA (90's version) and GSN (70's/80's). These are my first Joker memories as I was just born a year before 80's TJW was cancelled and taken off USA's airwaves a year later.

(Continuing on from part 2) Round 2 will play on until time's up and the player with the most amount of money on the scoreboard wins and goes on to the bonus round. In the bonus round, the champ will answer as many questions they can in 60 seconds and the questions answered correctly will be the amount of spins they have earned. On the board would be no devils, of course, but dollar amounts, jokers, and different types of prizes.

  • @NDW85
    @NDW85 11 лет назад +4

(Continuing on) The host would answer a question and the contestant who buzzes in and answers correctly gets to spin the board. If incorrect, their opponents gets a chance to answer the question and the 1st round continues on until times up. Round 2: Dollar values are doubled meaning, a single category would be worth $100, double worth $200 and triple worth $400. Also, if a contestant spins 3 jokers on the board, they win $1000 cash win or lose.

If Fremantle Media ever revives Joker's wild, here's I think the format should be. 3 players are in the game, no elimination rules. Round 1: Categories on the board, no dollar amounts. A single category is worth $50, double is worth $100 and Triple is worth $200. Of course, the Joker would be considered wild. If at any time a contestant gets 3 jokers on the board, they win $500 cash win or lose.

If Sony reboots the Joker's Wild, I'd love to see the format used here get a second chance, but with the rule that if at any time a contestant spins 3 Jokers, they can end the current round by answering a single definition correctly. Goal in round 1 is $5,000, goal in round 2 is $10,000. Single category is worth $500, double is worth $1000, Triple is worth $2000. First player to reach $10,000 in round 2 wins and goes to the Joker Machine. Joker Machine format remains the same, except that the champion gets 1 spin for each round they won and a spin for winning the game to start out. If the champ spins 3 Jokers, they get the Joker Jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and increases by $5,000 with each failed attempt. Pat Finn would get a second chance to host Joker's Wild. I think he did a good job here.

I mostly agree with you, but I would combine Part 1 of this bonus round with Face the Devil, since it is possible to win more in the front game than the bonus round. Dollar amounts are $1,000-$5,000, along with one $10,000 slide. For each correct definition in Part 1 of the bonus game, every time the devil appears, $500 is awarded to the player and the game continues. Spinning two or three devils on a turn is still worth only $500. A total of $25,000 or more wins the bonus game, and the player may stop at any time. Of course, a devil with no "Savers" (see what I did there?) remaining ends the round with no money.
