you can just buy a new subscription and send it in. I let my subscription lapse 2 years and then updated it and had to send it in and it was covered. I like autel but i would agree the hardware needs to be improved the autel elite that i have runs android 4.4 kitkat which is about 10 years old... i also wish they would allow the google play store... But other than that i use it daily and it also works better than the GM techline connect.
This is why I bought the XTool D8. The thing is absolutely amazing. I work at a small dealership and it has proven invaluable especially compared to our 2k dollar Snap On scanner.
Buy a new subscription and they will warranty the tool. I had lapsed on my original autel scan tool by a couple of years when it started giving me issues. Bought a subscription and they fixed it no questions asked.
I like the tool, but I’m pissed about the inability to program Mercedes’ Benz modules. I have the MK908 and ultra, both designed for BMW and Mercedes. Most of the time the software files are not available, you wait 2-3 days for a file. I have to have the dealer come out and program for me repeatedly!!!
Yes, there are several companies that you can download ondII software from. There's VCDS, torque, forscan, and many others. The VCDS you need to buy their scan tool to use with the software. The two others I mentioned you can get a pretty cheap one from amazon, wired and wireless. I'm sure there is even more software out there, those are just the ones I use.
I know someone personally that’s having problems with the battery not holding a charge, & after hearing all this from you previously I’m looking elsewhere
Batteries aren’t really an issue if you’re just the slightest bit technically inclined. I’ve changed many autel batteries for people and you can get the battery dirt cheap. I’ve also changed a few touchscreens over the years and they are just as easy.
The battery manufacturer discontinued the battery for my autel and no one has the right one, I have tried 2 different ones and without replacing the connector you are not using the battery with the same form factor

Love my Phoenix Plus. It gets better with every update.
The MaxiSys 906PRO is a bit more modern than others. Quite happy with it

Do you think the ultra is still a good investment?
My screen went out on my Maxisys Elite so bad that they just replaced the tablet
How has the Ultra held up??
