The monthly finance charge on a new vehicle today is over $500. A little love on an older vehicle that is paid off goes a long, long way.
Absolutely. I’d rather pocket the money and have a paid off vehicle
lol, My boss asked me when I was having some expensive engine repairs why I didn't just trade in my old '98 Expedition for a new one.. My response was that I could completely rebuild mine (new engine, transmission, and axles) for less than the down payment on a new one, lol....
Agreed on seeing an older vehicle that’s been cared for and made to fit a specific use case. I sold my 2007 F150 to a local fella and I always smile when I see it on the road. He’s kept it classy and functional.
That’s awesome!
I've owned my '02 Sequoia for 7 years now and I've updated it along the way. Ditched the head unit and sourced Crutchfield for a BOSS Nav unit. It doesn't really compete with today's factory systems, but for what I need it to do, it's done the job well. Welcome bonus: back-up camera! Switched out all of the dashboard and instrument panel light bulbs and replaced the dim yellowed dome/map/entry lights with cool white LEDs. Boy, they made a big difference! I can actually see around the cabin at night now! I admit I jumped on the TRD knock-off styling train. Heritage grill? Yep. Imitation TRD wheels? Yup. New headlights? You betcha! Freshened the look and gave the truck a subtle aggressive stance, which it really needed!
Sounds like you’ve made a lot of good upgrades
Good tips on the headlights! I just purchased a new set of front headlight lens as the 20 Y/O stock ones on my 04 were so cloudy and yellow. I tried a few of the lens restoration kits. They work for 3 or 4 months and then go downhill quick. I put in a pair of small, square Baja Designs yellow lens fog lights in my new steel front bumper. They operate just like the stock fog lights do. Waaay more brighter! They make a huge difference.
I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee - when I put on my old man emu lift I replaced all my control arms and bushings as well as any rod ends that were worn. One and done. Put in new headlights and housings as well just the OEM housing and halogen lights but brand new made a huge difference. I'm debating a head unit, I like the old look of the original cd and tape deck lol.
The first mod for my Sequoia was to transfer my head unit and speakers from previous trucks. I’ve built retrofits before, but I was willing to try the Colights and am mostly satisfied with them. I haven’t gotten too much into personal touches. I’m working on maintenance and repairs mainly now, but I do have a small subwoofer about to go in, some headers and the 5100s for a lift.
That’s awesome! Dude headers would be great. My truck needs them pretty bad at this point haha
Holy yes and yes: My ‘94 lights suck, but everyone running around with PnP LED bulbs in halogen housing (or even some in HIDs) are so much worse…
HIDs on my 2013 Land Cruiser are night and day, figuratively and literally.
PnP LEDs are so popular and so dangerous.
Oh ya, the super cheap LED bulbs are about as bad of a mod as you can do for headlights
Great video. Love the paint match.
Thank you! I think it looks great
I have an older cab high Snugtop shell. Still a really nice shell. I put new rear hatch struts on it. I got it color matched years ago but now the clearcoat is lifting and peeling.
🙌
I had the same issue you’re having with the high beams. You probably need a canbus decoder put inline between one of your headlight plugs and the vehicle. I used the best view h4 9003 for my tundra. Works great.
My understanding is that the issue stems from not enough load on the circuit since the LED’s draw a lot less power. But that’s only what I’ve been told
@@208Tyler that may be the case. Before the decoder, whenever I turned my fog lights on the high beams would also turn on. After the decoder, the lights operated as intended. I have an 06 tundra.
How much did you pay for the paint match? I’m thinking about doing this as well. Did you do prep work or did maaco do it all?
I didn’t do any prep and just went with their cheapest job. It varies by shell type
Could you give us an estimate on how much you paid?
Do you have the link for the stereo?
How to install video, and the link is in the video description: ruclips.net/video/YSYWAD5ufX4/видео.htmlsi=IytCiKr_AiBt1q1K
Amazon link for 5100s doesn’t work.

To add to the headlights, install a headlight relay harness. A lot of old cars run power for the headlight through the switch and back to the lights. the harness Insures that your lights are powered straight from the battery, giving them just a bit more power and thus a bit brighter.
Also, if you can find them for your vehicle, get E-code headlight housings made for left hand drive. they will have a much better beam pattern over the stock housing. The pattern is flat light modern lights but with an upward swoop on the right to illuminate the shoulder and roadsigns and such.
I run E-code housings, the relay harness and high wattage HALOGEN bulbs in my Cherokee and it's great. Low beams give just the right amount of light and high beams almost feel like a light bar. I prefer it over the headlights in some of the newer cars I've driven
