    Separating the 2 parts while still soft, but firm, and cleaning up with a knife, saved me a ton of work later. Thanks!

      I would like to make a bedding for the first time. I think that he may have used a bit much of the 2k material and he should let it harden completely. Why do you think that's a good reason you didn't seen like this before?

    I've found that bedding the receiver tang, the recoil lug, and the barrel are all you need to get good results.

    this is very different to what i have learned.
    first you dont compress the bedding compound by tightening the screws during curing for a wood stock.
    you dont remove the barreled action to trim the goop before it has set solid or you can destroy the bedding and the whole point of the process, which is why you fill the voids with putty, which would have meant you didnt have to take the barreled action out.
    a personal preference is to also bed the first inch or so of the barrel,, provided its not a quick change barrel.
    also, a lot of bedding jobs dont bed side walls to the top as it can cause problems.
    maybe i am miss understanding your process.

    Different strokes for different folks, good job others may have more superior ways but I don't see them skinning out videos of "their " best way to do it. I will say thanks for taking the time out of your day to try and help others. Maybe they caught a peice of something that you did that uncle Joe Bob didn't quite do. That's.

    I would have thought, if you fill in the hole for the recoil lug, it would hydraulic against the bedding and not seat fully. wouldn't you also just do the recoil lug area and the tang at the rear. not very impressed at all.

    what's up with part 3

    • @deeremeyer1749
      @deeremeyer1749 6 лет назад +2

      Part 3 is "find a gunsmith that knows what he's doing and doesn't put more time into "cleanup" and more money into "wasted materials" and doesn't charge for "bedding" an entire receiver just to "free float" the barrel with a "bed job" that SHOULD only include RELIEVING THE STOCK FORWARD OF THE RECOIL LUG, BEDDING THE RECOIL LUG RECESS AND BEDDING THE REAR MOUNTING LUG AREA. You can't fill a WOOD STOCK with "plastic" filler, and "free float" the ENTIRE RECEIVER that's STILL ATTACHED TO THE STOCK and not have that "float" vary as the stock "walks" with temperature and humidity changes.
      The amount of bedding material required to PROPERLY bed a rifle is TEASPOONS rather than CUPS, a GOOD gunsmith can "bed" a couple rifles per DAY no problem and there will be NO OUTWARD SIGNS PERIOD that it was DONE. Much less waste time DYING THE FUCKING BEDDING COMPOUND NOBODY IS GOING TO SEE ANYWAY.
      There are QUITE A FEW FACTORY-BEDDED RIFLES like Browning A-Bolts and X-bolts, Weatherby Mark Vs and I believe some Howas, Tikkas and Sakos. Whether WOOD STOCKED or "COMPOSITE" STOCKED" and they're all bedded the SAME. Want to see how PROPER BEDDING is done and LOOKS? Go check out one of those rifles.

      There’s no way there’s a part 3. He forgot to wax the metal before he reassembled the gun. Once he took the gun out, the release agent is gone. Even the area of the clay needed the wax. Sad.
